The way I have gotten over it is knowing life is short and I pretty much just play the classics, same thing goes for older TV shows and movies that I collect.
There's very few new games that I support, and most of them are faithful remakes and remasters of games that were good to begin with. There's more than enough older content to last a lifetime. The people doing this stuff probably won't be employed long because less and less people are buying into it, there won't be any Studios to direct.

If I came to work for a Polish company I'd expect actually to have events about polish culture if any, or a tour at polish historical cites etc. Who are those people who immigrate and then expect the host country to accept their culture they actually fled from?? CDPR was a beacon of hope for AAA gaming a few years back. They were untouchable with a huge loyal fan base. Cyberpunk came out and that destroyed their rep and very nearly shut them down. They managed to worm their way back into their fans good graces only to make one of the dumbest decisions possible.
The next game they release will be thr last. And when that happens they will blame the fans. And we shall laugh cause they failed business school. And don't know how business works
There's a difference between a game with issues and a company pushing an ideology. Yeah it had some of that ideology, but glitches were much more the problem at the time. Fastforward to today and ideology in it has become a bigger issue going forward.

@@codewick8985 Witcher 3 is pretty nice fantasy game, not perfect when it comes to gameplay, but it has an atmospheric world. Granted the themes in the game are racism, races that are suppressed and the evil empire was inspired by Nazi germany, but the sidequests where well made and the fantasy world very atmospheric.
CDPR is already seeing the backlash from their choices. They have seen what happened to Concord, Dustborn and Ubisoft.
They have a chance to course correct now. They are showing no sign of doing so. When these games release and fail completely, CDPR doesn’t deserve your sympathy.
I for one already completely done with them. I will never support them ever again.

It explains why CDPR used male V, for the most part, to advertise Cyberpunk 2077 until around 2022 when they started using uglified female V in the marketing.
I think the male/female is implemented in a good way. I think Ubisoft did it in a bad way with Odessy. Because they clearly said that the female is Canon.
What are you talking about? CDPR balanced the portrayal of V in Cyberpunk trailers. Most of the voice overs of trailers are by Gavin Drea. Hell, male V got his own CGI trailer. Female V only appeared in Demos and gameplay only.

I dont think its anything to do with whats discussed in this vid personally, i think its more likely they wanted to drift away from maleV because he was associated with the terrible release from a marketing standpoint, but CDPRs preference for FemV is pretty obvious by now.
In the credits for the DLC for example, its only FemV thats shown.

The next sign will be the founders cashing out and stepping down, defending their artistic integrity and admonishing their critics as they do. All this has happened before and will happen again.

I was a student in game design from 2021 to spring this year. I've been denied internships from various companies including, you guessed it, Ubisoft. Being an Asian and a Canadian citizen wasn't enough, apparently. I dropped out due to the state of the Western triple a scene, since I'm not welcome at these companies, and it's not like I aspired to make propaganda slop garbage anyways. I'm currently just trying to figure out what to do with my life now that I've given up on games.
depending on what part of the industry you wanted to be a part of, you could just go indie. Look into indie projects just starting up to see if they're hiring, or start a project of your own while you work part time to pay your way
I feel bad for people who got a formal education, and spent years learning to become a competent-excellent game developer, just to get overlooked or fired because there's a preferred checkbox with no talent that applied for the job. ESG destroys motivation for any normal person to chase a career.

I wasn't planning to buy a new CDPR game anyway even before that controversy, this just proves my righteous path.
Their integrity ceased to exist the day CDPR released Cyberpunk 2077. The game failed to meet the majority of the promises they made during marketing and prerelease demos. Worse still, they released a broken product that couldn't be played on platforms where they charged money for it (old gen consoles).
There were plenty of reasons to dislike and mistrust CDPR before they pushed for ESG/DEI, but now there are even more.

If the game is good, the game is good. If the studio keeps releasing good games despite DEI and ESG policies these policies either have very limited negative effect there or we understand these policies from a perspective thats influenced by the events at Blizzard, UBI, etc.
@@led-0185Originally the game was supposed to be a next gen only title. That determined the roadmap. Last gen port was forcefully shoved in after the fact and ate massive amounts of resources. Unreasonable expectations from investors is to be blamed for the massive clusterfuck at launch. The studio very much did their best to deliver performance and content improvements for two years after. DLC was pretty dope too.

As a Pole I used to support them by buying all their games and DLCs, but in the recent years I got so repulsed by their immorality that I can longer buy their products. Keep the fire under them, so they turn it around... Or not. I can support Artur Śmiarowski and his games.
That race car flag was in the game prior to the release of that ESG report, so you can say at least it was unofficially adopted during Cyberpunk 2077's phase of development.
CDPR is/was my favorite company. I actually had a wonderful release for Cyberpunk so I never experienced any of the issues I read about. Long story short, I am heartbroken to hear they now fell to these monsters. I had so much faith in them and yet they too fell. Horrible thing.

Exactly my experience, I had a smooth experience on PS5 with cyberpunk. Loved it but the witcher franchise are my favorite games of all time along with the Mass Effect trilogy. Had so much faith in CDPROJEKTRED, really thought they were a gamer first company but after all this i'm done with them. I will never buy another game by them. No men or no white men programs are both disgusting & racist.

The company I work for has also DEI policies pushing women at all costs in an industry where they are a clear minority. The consequence is that I have barely no chance to get a promotion if a woman applies too. Some are known to be incompetent and still get promoted. The only chance as a man is to have very good contacts. In the end it is totally unfair and will have consequences. (not even mentioning the emotion based management and the worsening of the political games and backstabbing)

Same, I pre-ordered Cyberpunk back. In 2020, it was not bad, but it didn't deliver what I expected ,it took almost 3 years to get a full experience with the 2.0 Update.
So, better wait before you pre-order a game. Most of the new Gen games are full of political activist issues.

This tells me that CD Projekt Red was hit harder by the launch of Cyberpunk than they allowed for in the financial plan. They were bailed out in 2021, probably by an ESG Bank, and this was the condition for the loan. Now they're being taken over because of their own faults in management.
