Nice to listen to. The BBC used to have announcers who could speak English properly, but nowadays they seem to let just anybody do the job, even if they can't pronounce properly. They miss out "T's" as in bu''er" instead of "butter" for example, as well as other badly pronounced words.
2:33 - There used to be a signal box on the other side of the road to the left of the track when this was a regular passenger rail line. I used to see the guy working the points when the bus I took to school went past.
8:41 This is what's called 'Gauntlet track' just before Mitcham Its a way of mixing two tracks into one without the need for a set of points with each side having a consistent direction.
Use to travel part of this route often between Wimbledon & west croydon just 4 years before the tram link ever existed when the connex south central trains sadly went out of service in 1995.
Nice to see this, I lived in NA in the 70s and 80s before the trams were back, we lived opposite the Cunningham at Northdown Cresent. It can be heart wrenching at times as I have amazing memories of living in the flats with my Mum who has sadly passed away. Addington was known to be a bit rough but it was my home and I have great early memories there..
As the CR2000 is almost the same product as the Type T and T1 cars on the U6 in vienna, they have the same sound as the viennese U6-trains (which are technically trams). The sound the CR2000 makes when breaking and starting to roll used to also be made by the Type T, but those sadly no longer make those sounds. But the sound in the tunnel and on open tracks reminds me of the U6.
Very enjoyable, there are a few things I would love to do "coming 64 & don't know how long I've got left" and all involves cab rides... Underground train Overground train and tram! I bet I unfortunately won't!
I’ve lived in Manchester U.K. 23 years now and we have the Metrolink Trams which is a good system - but more recently in Dublin in my native Ireland, we have the LUAS trams and the cool thing about them is that despite being a smaller network, they have all of the announcements in my native Irish Gaelic language, which is a wonderful way to be welcomed home on visits home to family in Ireland 🇮🇪☘️🇮🇪❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I would like to say that this was recorded before they removed the interchanges from the announcements (if anyone is wondering yes they did add them back exact date was somewhere in August 2019).
5:01 Did anyone else notice points are set in the wrong direction and the signal was clear 4:46 im suprised that didnt derail cause of points being set wrong
Where would they be of any real use within “London” is the real question? I don’t see them being used with the current Tramlink system or in south London because of third rail electrification. The only one where I can see it not being completely terrible is the St Albans Abbey branch (and technically that doesn’t count as London?)
0:26 love the hunk in the reflection - as a gay man myself, I’m always on hunk-watch and I’d definitely shamelessly flirt with this handsome hottie 😍😍😍😍
Wimbledon Phipps Bridge Belgrave Walk East Croydon West Croydon George Street Church Street Elmers End New Addington Beckenham Junction Birkbeck Beckenham Road by Right Door Stations
Only costs about £23 million to run this every year. The highest paid person in Britain earns £320 million after tax per year. Just think if she was taxed 10% more on her income, this could be made free!
Why do so many (idiots) suicidal people walk across in front of the tram a few seconds before it moves off? Apart from those moments of terror, it was a fascinating drive to NEW ADDINGTON*. (* Now a name forever burned into my subconcious thanks to the many service announcements...)
@@PGATProductions lazy or being efficient? The service is adequate as it is, and doubling up the track in lots of places would require probably millions in buying up land and preparing it.
Why doesn't anyone make a decent Tramlink cab ride video? They all seem to have blurry video and an obstructed view! Not to seem ungrateful but the train cab views are so much better.
i love how the announcer is committed to pronouncing every single letter 💀

At Merton Park, check out the hidden spur to Tooting via Merton Abbey, on the left. Great railway walk. The station house is still there.

Did you know the trams were originally were going to have a extension beyond Wimbledon but the construction of the extension was never done.
Actally the trams are going to have a extension to south wimbledon and a new loop.

Such a big respect at 11:49!
It's a normal thing for them(Even bus drivers)
The croydon announcer sounds like he's clarifying to someone who's asked him to repeat himself 12 times.
That's OK 'cos so many African people are aboard that they prob neen good pronounce ;)
Announcements are particularly helpful to deaf people and irregular passengers

I miss that announcer.. I have not been on a Tram for 5 years
Most enjoyable. Thank you
Glad you enjoyed it
In like the CR4000 that you are inside that tram and also THE LOUD roar across the tunnel. Please Press 32:38
In germany Cologne the K4000,which is not different to the Cr4000,is used as a underground train sometimes and its much louder

Lots of memories, I used to live in Clyde Road E.Croydon
I do miss seeing Nicholas Owen on TV
What're the differences between magistrate, crown, and county courts..there?
How come the speed limits are in km/h?
Didn't the British switch to the metric system some years ago??
@@paulwarner5395 Yeah sort of but most speed limits are in MPH
Because although road and rail limits are in miles per hour, trams are alot newer and so they use KM/H
Im assuming because the trams are German and in Germany they use the metric system for travel

Hi! New friend from Philippines.thank you
Roblox it’s the same also the trams, but they have an short tram line, from Mitcham Junction - Lloyd Park or Addiscombe.
Every time I say New Addington I now say it like that announcer lol

I assume much of this route was converted from heavy rail (BR Southern?)
Nice motor sound
Beautiful sound from the CR4000 tramlink
Mainly because it's powered by overhead wiring
Does anyone know what models these are ??
the CR4000
Is it just me or do the trams go quiet slow nowadays compared to before
Why kind of engine was that?

these points are called trip points and when the tram wheels goes over the points it changes it
Note how they use double track instead of points..

That's right. Although it runs outside of Croydon as far as Wimbledon where it connects with the District Line.
