    • @TheMeeesterT

      There is some truth to that... definitely, but it should also be noted that the media, in general, don't like people from a working class background forgetting their place. Wayne Rooney has suffered from this, as have many footballers, who are often portrayed as stupid, simply for being good at something that they are not.
      CEO's are rarely put under the spotlight for their spending habits, and there isn't as much interest in what they are earning. Footballer's salaries are often reported as a weekly wage too, which subtly reminds the reader not to forget where they're from.
      This is a nuanced conversation that could go on for longer, but I would really recommend another podcast called The Price Of Football, which gives a great insight into the finances of the game.

    • @jdrummerdd
      @jdrummerdd 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      well yah thats all true but in that story it was about how milner was NOT getting that treatment, whilst Micha was. And its not like the english media is not known for being next level racist. we both agree im just saying its not a matter of "some truth," its reality. @@TheMeeesterT

    • @TheMeeesterT
      @TheMeeesterT 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @jdrummerdd
      ok... I could have worded my opening better... but next level racism?... I'm not sure I can agree with that. Emmanuel Adebayor, for instance.... I don't really recall any bad press for his spending habits, but if I'm wrong, I hold my hands up.
      As Micah himself said at the time, he was driving to the training ground in his ferrari with the top down and wearing flash watches.. putting pics of it on Instagram, whereas Milner was not, and the media reporters that were following him in their Mondeo's would be jealous of that. They would report it in such a way as to make their readers jealous too.
      To be clear, however Micah chose to spend his money was no one else's business, especially mine or the media's but ya gotta generate the clicks and Milner gave them nothing, whereas Micah did. David Beckham is another player that springs to mind, who gave the press their pound of flesh.

      In Europe back three systems were common in Germany and Italy especially and it was also common that the middle centre back had a freer role and was good with the ball.
      Beckenbauer didnt innovate, he was just exceptionally good at his role. It only seems like that way because the English didn't know about back three systems before 2015 and Conte...
      Messi of the centre backs is a great expression because he also didn't innovate, but his abilities are almost supernatural and so much ahead of everyone else.

Instead of bickering about absolute bollocks appreciate the gist of what I was saying and the absolute talent of the man who revolutionised the position and made defending sexy to the average fan. Question for Micah & Gary, From a defenders perspective do you think Gary dived against Cameroon in the 1990 World Cup, would you feel robbed had you been the Defender? and Gary did you dive ? The 2nd one i think was a Dive.

    Micah saying he wasn't sure Boro could play the same way vs a "better team" 😂 luckily for Boro that wasn't an issue as Villa are a much better team than fucking Chelsea 🤣🤣

  • @suhailzamir8928

    This isn't the reason I'm sure but I distinctively remember Gary Lineker at half time talking about Mourning tactics. I'm not sure which game it was I think when he was at Chelsea. He compared mourinho to Johan Cruyff as a manger. When Lineker was in Barcelona he felt sometimes Cruyff tried to be "too clever" with tactics and was showing his arrrongance. So he compared that to Mourinho tactics at the time.
    But I'm just speculating

    • @suhailzamir8928
      @suhailzamir8928 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Or it could be Lineker criticism of Mourinho comment on Wenger about being a specialist in failure.
