      Thanks Darren, appreciate that. It definitely is a frantic 90 minutes behind the camera with everything including bad weather thrown at us! Good job I enjoy the challenge.👍🏻

    Good morning dear,
    Here is a Uruguayan sports photographer, who greatly admires your work! In the afternoons after work I watch your videos translated into Spanish (since I'm not very good with English haha).
    I learn a lot,
    Greetings and thanks!

    Horrible wet. Some great images though. Glad I shoot indoor national league handball 😊 Once shot beach handball when it rained a bit. Gear doesn't like moist 😢 Hope your 1DX survives. Maybe time for R3 + RF 100-300 f2.8? R6 is great too.

    Mark, thanks for the great entertainment.
    I’m going for my first two international games next week and the weather forecast looks bad… but hej, maybe they are wrong. Well, I got the rain cover for the 400, so it should be fine.
    I can confirm what you mentioned about the mirrorless shooters. My current main body is the R6ii and I never take the eye of the eyepiece. I reconfigured some buttons, so I can look at the shoots, zoom and lock them with my right hands index finger and thumb. But I got the 70-200 on the 1DX and locking pictures there is difficult compared to the modern camera.
    Your old PocketWizard will also be used twice next week. It’s a busy time of the season with all these qualifiers. But I won’t complain ;-)

      Hi Pascal. Apologies for the late reply, I hope your international games went well. Great to know that the pocket wizard is still being used. I think I am going to have to take the plunge and go Mirrorless soon! Even if just to keep the body dry when it is raining, ha ha! the question is, the R5, R6ii 2 or R3?! Hope you are keeping well anyway mate👍🏻

    Little bit of a random question but when you've got your 400mm on a monopod do you leave the tripod collar loose so you can easily switch to portrait if needed? Or do you lock it off and only do portraits as an intentional decision? Ive been trying out a bit of both to see what works best but just curious wbat others do

    • @MarkKerton
      @MarkKerton  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Good question that is Jay. I always shoot with a loose collar. Just in case I need to quickly switch to Portrait for players running towards me. Thanks for watching

    • @JayOhFree
      @JayOhFree ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MarkKerton thanks Mark, I thought as much I just got told recently it wasn't a good idea to leave it loose because of horizons, but it felt comfortable for me to do it loose as horizons are an easy correction in camera and out of camera. Anyway, I appreciate these vids they're a good insight to know I'm on the right track! Hopefully see you pitch side someday!

    great vid Mark, do you ever use rise to dry the kit out

    • @MarkKerton
      @MarkKerton  ปีที่แล้ว

    • @MrJohnTudor
      @MrJohnTudor ปีที่แล้ว

      I photograph for a whitewater rafting company in north wales and we still go rafting in the rain!, the gear gets soaked, I had a 6D that did what you described, I thought the camera was dead, rice back then was costing 50p a bag alot cheaper than some of these fancy gels, keep up the good work @@MarkKerton

    Sorry for maybe silly question, but how many edited/ready pictures you sending over. Kind regards

    • @MarkKerton
      @MarkKerton  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No question is a silly one👍🏻
      On average I’d say I send 40-60 edited images per game. That includes pre & post match stuff. Then a further 20-40 from a 2nd edit. So player and ball, top half type shots. A high scoring game will obviously be higher👍🏻

    • @jakubmalicki8519
      @jakubmalicki8519 ปีที่แล้ว

      @MarkKerton Thank you for your quick response. I'm editing and sending over 120. I tried to find out how to speed up my work. I was keeping myself very busy for 2 days. I'm full-time employed in different job, so it's very important for me to finish editing as quickly as possible. Plus, I think I'm a perfectionist who cares about details, and here I'm spending too much time.

  • @lensbrew
    @lensbrew ปีที่แล้ว +1

    A question about the usage of the images you take Mark. Since you've been commissioned to shoot those games, do you retain the rights to those image? Can you profit from them by selling prints or exhibits? Or portfolio and personal prints are the only things your allowed to obtain?
    Great work as always!

    • @MarkKerton
      @MarkKerton  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      In a word “No”. They belong to Shutterstock as it’s them who have applied for my license and who I am working on behalf of. I can use the images for socials etc no problem but definitely cannot sell them on👍🏻

    • @lensbrew
      @lensbrew ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MarkKerton Interesting and reasonable. Since you mentioned license, I'm assuming you're talking about media license from FA. Does that mean, in the UK, the photographer applies for access and media organizations pay for the work and images' rights?

    • @sportsshooter2574
      @sportsshooter2574 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MarkKerton The CPS one is really not good for heavy rain. I have one for the 70-200 but for the 400 the Think Tank Hydrophia is the best out there. It did well under the Irish rain
