Angel of Death: last robot to run the gauntlet in a heat and last solely eliminated in heat 1st round, Sumo was also in first trial and last trial for series 1 + 2 as well. Flirty Skirty is such a sassy groovy name but its well constructed, Vercingetorix made a nice debut, What I love most about Haardvark is Liz and her bright personality. Always smiling! Tender Caress only lasted 6 seconds but still twice as long Grunt did! xD
I think the Gauntlet was the main thing that was real inconsistent, even if it wasn't actually biased. The Tug-of-War, Joust, Sumo, and King of the Castle were pretty good & consistent though, since those pitted competitors directly against House Robots, and even though the house robot(s) chosen for the different events were often different from one heat to the next, the house robot picked for the 2nd event in a given heat always remained the same throughout that event.
That was pretty unfair in the Trials. Dead Metal pushed Tender Caress off almost instantly, and toyed/ delayed with everyone else. Case in point- Vercingetorix would have fallen off had Dead Metal not grabbed it when it went over the edge. Wether they are down to bias from the producers or human error during driving, this is one of those incidents that makes me think have the Gauntlet and Trials as part of the main competition was a bad idea (though they could have had it as a side extra event).
@TheLegacyofHitchcock Probably why the trials and gauntlet were removed. As amusing as they were, you're right, they're not exactly fair, and less destructive than letting all the robots smash each other up some more.
I just think that the fights in the earlier series wouldve been filled with a lot of breaking down of multiple bots so they needed things like tug of war, sumo, etc. But I completely understand where you are coming from
@TheLegacyofHitchcock I don't think that was entirely the case. I think Dead Metal only really toyed with them after they had passed the tender Caress benchmark. For instance, Vercingetorix lasted something like 20 seconds before being held over the edge. It didn't matter what dead metal did at that point, so he just toyed with him. As for the others, I think dead metal genuinely had to get those second pushes to get them over.
@Jimera0 yes but even if Dead Metal had to push twice I think it could have pushed faster if the driver wanted to. Dead metal did acctually need two pushes for tender caress as well. But their fault for being so arrogant as well.
8:23, great spin move by Dead Metal, it would have been cool if he knocked them off with that, Dead Metal was too good in this event, he could have knocked off Ver and Havoc earlier, but I guess he took pity on them for some reason
It was down to poor driving by the Tender Caress team. Unless it was a stock bot made my the producers there was nothing that seemed bias in that bout. The stock bots caused controversy in the last Series because Grunt & WYSIWYG were stock bots in which had deliberately done poorly in the trials as they could not go further into the competition.
For my money that Dan boy on the Angel of Death team is an absolute Angel Delight. I think he let himself down by slagging off his teammate just to impress Phillipa Forrester but I'd let him off just for being so dreamy.
@sodapop554 Yeah I agree. If Haardvark was in the same heat as Mortis, Cassius, or Roadblock, they probably wouldn't have made it to the semi's. They were lucky to have been in a heat with such shitty robots.
Shunt COULD have (and SHOULD have) taken out Flirty Skirty faster than Tender Caress, and Vercingetrorix shouldn't have survived at all- the driver of Dead Metal just intentionally chose not to finish them faster, even holding Vercingetorix on the ring when by all rights it should have gone off. This is why sumo should be left to Shunt (and not driven by idiots)- except Shunt was still pretty pathetic in the 2nd Wars as well.

in fairness, tender caress was very easy to push off as scene, but i get your point
