I bought a 2021 Mustang GT Premium with the same color. I have the red interior and i didn't get a PP1 but i did get the 401A package...I already put Borla Exhaust and Palm Beach tuning did a incredible job..
1. I think you're really going to be happy with that (I just drove the Mach 1 last week and am working on that review now) 2. But that's odd they said PP1 isn't available right now. I wonder why or if they thought you meant PP2?
@@saulcortez3650 in this video he was saying that his PP one sticker priced at 55. I got my mach one premium with the appearance package and the elite package for 58. I’d pay that difference just for the tremic Not to mention all the cooling stuff areo and exhaust
Great comparison! I used to have a fully loaded 2019 Mustang Bullitt, I know everyone loves all the tech and that digital dash. After 7,500 miles and my digital dash going dark 3 times and some issues with my sync 3 I sold it. I now drive a 2021 Mustang GT 300A performance package I really don't miss the tech and now i dont worry about if or when my dash cluster will turn on or not. All the extra features are awesome and great when NEW but I'm hesitant it will last 10 or 15 years from now.
Oh, man, that's a bummer. I'm glad you're happy now. And you're so right. In addition to owning a Boss 302 (which has like a 1982 clock radio, lol), my wife drives a 2013 Cadillac ATS and its infotainment system developed bad pixels on the LCD screen two months out of warranty. I was super lucky, the dealership treated me as if I was on an extended warranty... but today it would cost $3500 for a replacement. So imagine what all these digital dashes and screens are going to be like in 10-15-20 years is scary for collectors and future buyers. I guess this is another reason to get the GT350 over the Mach 1. Thanks for watching!
@@internetbrandsautogroup3826 oh yeah I plan on replacing the current tires to pilot sport cup 4S. You should do a review on a base 300A performance package it definitely helps for perspective buyers wanting to save money but still want all the track goodies 👍
@@mikelnorman2402 I'd love to review a base as well, but it all comes down to what Ford has in their annual press fleet. And wouldn't you know it, the LOVE to show off more expensive models and features :)
You make me feel better about my 2020 Mustang GT with the 4.2" screen. I bought mine new for $34,500 with Kona blue, black accent, active exhaust and auto trans. I would have liked to get a Bullitt, but I didn't want a stick.
I highly recommend the Firestone 500 fire hawk tires. I did have the Michelin and replace them with the Indy 500 tires. Boy oh boy I'm glad I purchase these Firestone tires. They are great they hook when you turn the steering wheel any direction they follow easily. And they do excellent on the bumps. Don't get me wrong the michelin's serve their purpose. Every time I would turn my Sterling wheel to the left it would pop with the michelins on. Now with the Firestone tires no popping sound at all. I think one of my Michelin tires was bad.
I searched high and low for a new 2021 GT Premium with the Performance Package, but ended up finding a holdover 2020 model last month that - for some reason - had not sold. Being a 2020 model, it has the Michelins AND qualified for $3,750 in rebates . . . so I feel like I did well (considering the wacky state of the market).
You scored dude! I had a 19’ GT PP1 premium 6 speed with the 3.73 rear end and the Michellin Pilot Sport 4 S. He is right, it’s a much better tire than the P Zero, period! So you did well man. I bought my 19 in Nov of 19 and got a similar rebate on mine which was Black on black on black. I wish Ford would either just put the Tremec in the GT or offer it at a cost, I would pay the diffenrev. Then, you could get into a GT and add the Tremec, a la carte, and have a GT Stang for under $50k with the Tremec…
Great review! I think you rightly observed that there is a point of diminishing returns in terms of mustang straight-line performance on the coyote platform regardless of year. However, comparing a used 2013 Boss for 30k to a new 2021 GT in terms of value just doesn't come across as objective analysis at all. The additional 25k is indeed not buying you much gains in 0-60 (albeit some magazines have cracked 4.0 second 0-60 with 10r80) but you're getting IRS, heated/cooled seats (Recaro's forcing the exception), remote start, digital cluster, Ford CoPilot 360 (emergency braking, lane keep assist, blind spot monitor) as well as GPS and a large backup camera and backup sensors...Plus 6 piston brakes, magneride, and the oem warranty, and the prior owner security/ego fulfillment of buying a new car (which has a large value, also known as depreciation!). I mean they are very apples and oranges in terms of what that 25k gets you, much of which (not counting from warranty and the value of first ownership) was literally never even available on the s197, aside from a backup camera in the rear view mirror and a GPS system. I think a late model fully loaded s550 is a marvel of engineering that took the mustang badge way upmarket in terms of content and design, with commensurate price adjustments. It costs more because it offers more!
Seeing you list all of those things is a great reminder why the 2013 halo n/a Mutang -- the Boss -- was only $45K new when the 2021+ Mach 1 stickers up to around $65K. But I still think my points were valid and as objective as possible. I've driven every single Mustang Ford has produced in the last decade and ultimately became a Boss 302 owner, which you can see me discuss in my Shelby GT350 and Mach 1 reviews as well. I know the Boss isn't the best, but I use it as a benchmark bc I have it on hand. If a new Mustang bests the Boss -- all for the reasons you mention, which i believe i mention in the video a couple of times -- I'm happy to admit it and revel in the engineering marvels. but i also think it's fair to mention when -- in this one metric -- a new model can't compete bc Ford made choices that impacted the vehcile's performance (IE, new gearing and lesser tires). And like i said, the Mustang GT is still terrific. I just wouldn't recommend this particular spec (Premium PP1 with every option).
Great video. The Mach 1 with an upgraded wheels for an extra 400 500 bucks is worth it for the STICKER price, which most dealerships are not selling based on MSRP. The Michelin pilot sport 4s removal is a really big downgrade. I would wait until the chip shortages are resolved and fully loaded GT'S could be bargained for. GT'S don't have markups but only limited production mustangs are.
Purely speculation I know, but this same car with some PS4S tires…how much better is that 0-60 time? I’d have to say at least on par with your Boss, no? BTW, great review. I like your style and your enthusiasm for the cars, you can tell it’s genuine.
Well, gearing and weight would also come into play (the 2018+ MT82 as taller gearing), but, yeah, if both cars had PS4S, it would be pretty close and mostly related to driver skills and road conditions. I had a chance to drive a base Mach 1 with PS4S tires about a year after I filmed this review and, if I recall correctly, the Mach 1 did a little better bc the Tremec transmission is easier to shift north of 7K. I'm still not the greatest drag racer, though. Hahaha. Cheers.
It had better tires and more power, but I ran a 0-60 in the Mach 1 with the 10R80 over a full second faster than the MT82-equipped GT... the current MT82 gearing is not ideal although, once warmed up, it's perfectly lovely to drive in most scenarios.
For sure, it's just a nutty year where I've seen people get MSRP for Mach 1s as well as be forced to pay MSRP for GTs. In most years, a GT will cost around $4k less than sticker, and the special edition will be at or above sticker. I'd still argue that the Mach 1 brings vital upgrades to the table -- Tremec and extra cooling -- that make it worth the upgrade even when they aren't the same price. Cheers!
I agree that if u want a Manual GT then you should get a Mach 1, if u want an auto though go with a GT.. all that extra cooling is not necessary at all for daily driving or drag racing or even light track use. that adds a ton of weight. The MACH 1 is only better on the track and thats it. it has way too much downforce and extra weight to make a drag car out of it or daily drive. The tires on the 21 are junk though i agree.. Dont spend 6k on the perf pack and get aftermarket wheels and tires and change the rear diff to a torsen 373 and you good to go.
Excellent points, thanks for watching and sharing your opinion! Yeah, I think a base GT with the 10R80 is a great platform to start for a strip and street build.
The P zero tires are the worst tire to ever put on a performance car in general based off experience. The pilot sport 4s tires are the way to go they hook so good.
My 2021 Mustang GT premium was a big lemon. I could live with the cheap plastic interior and glitchy electronics but the clucky garbage 6 speed manual transmission was just garbage! I'm not the only one who thinks so, look at the class action that has been launched against Ford. Fortunately I was able to sell it and buy a real car from another manufacturer. It's no wonder Ford stopped building cars...I'll never buy another Ford...EVER!

2019 401A pp1...yes would buy again...love it.
That was a great year for PP1s!
I'm seeing one for sale at 37k USD, 2021 Mustang GT fully loaded with all the options u have, and it has 2000km on it. Is it worth buying?
I’m not familiar with 2021 used pricing, but that seems pretty good. Don’t forget to get a pre purchase inspection to check condition.
I wanted to order a GT PP1 at the dealer but they told me the Performance Pack was unavailable so i end up ordering a MACH 1.

2. But that's odd they said PP1 isn't available right now. I wonder why or if they thought you meant PP2?
They want to focus in the MACH 1 1 so they can save up some parts of the PP1.
The Mach 1 has so much more!!! Good choice!!
