Endless Dungeon Review

- Endless Dungeon reviewed on PC by Justin Koreis. Also available on PlayStation, Xbox, and Switch.
It requires an almost brash confidence to mash up a twin-stick shooter with a tower defense game, and then further mix that into a sci-fi roguelite. But somehow Endless Dungeon pulls it off, blending them all seamlessly into a great package that strikes just the right balance of action, strategy, and rewarding progression. It can occasionally be frustrating when the random elements stack the deck completely against you, but strong persistent upgrade options make each run still feel like you’ve accomplished something. With a great cast of heroes, a deep roster of monsters, and stellar co-op, Endless Dungeon is an audacious blend that’s worth opening that next door to find.

The first Dungeon of the Endless was already great (especially in coop). Really excited for this one.
more than 200 hours here. really excited too!
KIP CANNON!!!!
@@SonOfAntalisI found my people here.
still a solid game and fun but is missing a lot of the player agency from DotE
been following this game for over 6 months. so unbelievably happy that it turned out so well.
I've been so excited for this, I'm really glad all the systems came together.
It looks amazing on the PlayStation five
the Endless games are some of the most fun I've had while gaming. You can tell pretty quickly after picking up an Amplitude title that they love making games. Highly recommend if you like roguelikes and don't mind difficulty
Didn’t realize this games devs have a history of quality. Never played any of thier prior games
should be coming in the post today, hope its awesome! great review
The first game was one of my favorite games ever. Probably the best mishmash of genres bar none. If you are on the fence do yourself a favor and get this and the original, 'Dungeons of the Endless'.
I've been keeping an eye on this one for years it seems like. Glad they got it right!
Pretty disappointed to hear there is no Couch Coop.
Yeah this was a major missed opportunity
These guys did do a 2D sprit game called "Dungeon of the Endless" which is very similar to this back in 2014. It's worth checking out if this game appeals to you as it's a great game and it's cheap.
They also made endless space and legend
whole Endless universe should be given a try. The setting is deep and created with heart. The fact that it provides a variety of games of different genres is just heartwarming
Well technically speaking endless dungeon is in the same universe as dungeon of the endless and endless space
The first screenshots made me worry that this was going to be sort of an in-name-only sequel, but I'm glad to see that the basic systems present in Dungeon of the Endless are still here and well-implemented.
The original Dungeon of the Endless is one of the most unique games I've ever played this made it an instabuy for me.
Played the original. Excited for the update.
its a new game not an update
Deep Rock Galactic, Warframe, Left 4 Dead, Orcs Must Die, Sanctum, Risk of Rain, tons more out there have proven that a damage dealing main character works well with both roguelite style elements and tower defense. This doesn't seem like brash confidence as much as it seems like natural progression of the genre. Tower Defense is barely a genre on its own anymore anyway; when was the last time a pure tower defense game came out?
Is there no way to scale the ui higher? Text is so tiny in the steam deck
Great Steam Deck game. Same with The Ascent! Would recommend
Was worried the delays of this game were a portent of a half-assed product, but seems like they've delivered. Loved the 2D original on PC/iOS
Nice. Important reminder is that some degree of frustration is crucial in any game. Without it, success becomes hollow.
you mean "challenge". frustration is the opposite of challenge, at least in games
Does anyone know if this game has difficulty options?
Sounds like an awesome game for the steam deck
they didn't say but can you queue co-op, is it gonna be a problem with trolls/leavers?
idk just don't queue if it is
Sound design and execution in this game sound incredible
But does it have survival mode or any mode that is indeed endless ? Or any of those it has are only limited by your life ?
Definitely gonna check this out.
When does it come out for switch
Game is on sale for $20 on steam right now might get. Reviews on steam are mixed tho
Picked it up. I'm enjoying it definitely worth $20
Man this looks so fun, wish it had crossplay
Crossplay should be default these days
Agreed
Crossplay and Cross-save@@focabox5594
Or couch co op
@@focabox5594yup
8/10
We need more games like this.
Does this game have local coop? seems perfect for it!
Cant wait
cant wait to play
The game looks stunning 🔥🔥🔥
It was just decently fun for one run, then nothing made me want to keep playing. Hope you like it though!
I'm glad they kept the cool style of the first game on a 3D approach. Really neat indeed!
If someone chose a character u chose do u have to choose another?
Looks like a lot of fun
Finally something to mitigate my Risk of rain addiction
Finally! This been on my steam wishlist but getting it on ps5
me too. coop? my ID is daczero
Me too
Does this have Couch co-op??
This has Denuvo right?
This looks like a great game for my steam deck
Doesn't an 8/10 seem low for how overwhelmingly positive the feedback was?
If 8.5 were an option that would have been the score, it's very much between an 8 and a 9. Generally the rule of thumb if it isn't "definitely a 9", then it's an 8.
ive been playing it and im a huge fan of the whole endless series 8 feels like a very fair score
Does 4/5 stars sound better to you?
No
The game is completely unplayable/broken on ps4 & 5 tbf
Beautiful graphic and Challenging gameplay, but lacking of repetitive and attractive system that keep players playing the game (in my opinion) , so you will easily get bored after 2-3 run.
this game seems cool, kinda reminds of light bringer arcade game by taito
Loved the first game. Hoping for another awesome soundtrack.
Soundtrack is incredible!
Id love it if they ported over some of the characters from the first one.
(Tf2 mercs plz maybe? :,(. )
Looks great and fun!
Im waiting on switch version
This game needs a 40k crossover. It screams Space Hulk to me.
they basically already made a 2D version of this game called dungeon of the endless, that game was solid and this is probably gonna be a way better version of it
TechRadar gave it 2/5
IGN 8/10
Addictive once you get past tutorial / floor 1
Amplitude haven't made a bad game in over a decade. Might not be everyone's thing, but nobody can say anything they've made is below average.
humankind was a mess for a while and some parts of it still are
Looks like a lot of fun, and just $30
These days, how often do these two come together and turn out well? fun and priced right? unimaginable!
Its fun, but it feels like all of the depth was stripped out of the original game - Losing the ability to choose where we put resource generators & the lack of dust/light functionality takes alot away.
Sad the gun loot are just reskins … so important for loot to be diverse and exciting
No splitscreen, no sale.
This game deserves a 9 and it’s worth it to anyone on the fences
Has Denuvo…
is it possible to play in local coop?
Sadly no it's not an option right now.
This looks so fun! Hope there is an easy mode for time starved tired Dads like me.
As a Sega fanatic this game is a must have for me.
they only became the publisher for amplitude a few years back the game really has nothing to do with sega
looks like the perfect steam deck game
check dem hostile architecture.
The perfect PS5 GAME
Looks really fun
Didn’t mention it’s 30fps on console for no reason though…
Is this on game pass
Twin-stick shooter, rougelike and tower defense are actually fairly close, genre-wise. There are a ton of games that do two of those three and some that combine all three. It's really not mind-blowing
What are a few of those games?
@@bigzachfultwin-stick shooter rogue-like that comes to mind would be Enter The Gungeon and a semi tower defense rogue-like would be Risk of Rain.
@@sethmoyers5274 how on earth is risk of rain a tower defense?!?!?!
IGN posted 3 reviews in the last 12 hours:
Spider-Man 2
Endless Dungeon
Hot Wheels Unleashed 2
They gave them all an 8.
Maybe they're all 8s
Endless games are super underrated.
The beta was a Technik Desaster hope the Release Version Can handle IT
Looks fun. There have been other popular twin stick shooters that are rogue likes so not sure why this seems to blow the reviewers mind. Lots of isometric roguelikes, like Hades, use twin stick shooter mechanics.
They're emphasizing twinsitck tower defense. Not that it's a twinstick rogue
everyone loves Hades what are you talking about
@@Tyler.Rodriguez at the start of the video he says "There is no other way to describe the daring it must have taken to create this hyrbid Twin stick shooting, tower defending, sci fiction rogue like. Those are three very different genres all on their own." Not trying to take away from the complexities of creating ANY video game as it is a tough thing to do. It was just a weird sentence. It's kinda like saying "It's crazy they combined a shooter, a first person game, and an RPG. All VERY different genres!"
Hades is not a twin stick shooter, and he said nothing about isometric, your like arguing against yourself. And Hades does not use those mechanics either, seems like you haven’t played the game
@_itattracts when you use the bow, throw the spear or shield? Move with one stick and have multidirectional aim with the other stick. That's the core of twin stick shooters. Usually from a top down or isometric perspective. The perspective is important. Gears of War is a third person shooter and Call of Duty is a first person shooter. They both use one stick to move and one stick to aim, but the perspective is what makes them different.
It looks cool, but it worries me that there arent many reviews by big gaming chnnels on this game.
actually, I'm love to see horde of enemies like Alien shooter than just about 10 like this.
Very disappointing that the weapon variety is so small… Thats the big Point for a rogue lite isnt it?
It's an 8
Crystal bot keeps getting randomly stuck with no way to unstuck it. Ruined an hour long session.
How did the reviewer miss that this is a 3D adaptation of an already existing game? It's not so much daring as time-proven, given the previous title.
No melee characters…
So is it matchmaking to find a group?
Reminds me of Dungeon Defenders
Apparently it's 30 fps on xbox series and ps5
When it floats down 🫡😂
In case anyone is wondering, it is DEFINITELY worth it!
Hopefully Steam Deck compatible
Wish this have couch coop maaaan
Meh, might be fun for people wanting co-op, but it's hard for me to get friends together these days. Part of getting old. The first game was far more sp friendly.
I'd play with you
Local co op on pc?
no
Reviewed on PC but its a twinstick shooter?
Soo dungeon of the endless but with more control count me in that game was fun as it was this is just better for me
Ps5 owner here and im gonna be picking this up instead of the spiderman dlc 2.
Nice!
You’re the first person I’ve met online with that opinion other than me. Everyone is head over heels and it’s nothing much more special than miles morales
Me too ✋🏼
Genuine question: why did you choose to use the fact that you're not getting Spiderman to say that you're getting Endless Dungeon?
Seems like alien swarm
Definitely worth the $30 if you have a Steam Deck.
No crossplay and 3 not 4 players is too bad
It has Denuvo so a no for me lol
Games awesome
Not sure if this guy knows that "sci-fi" isn't a genre of game, it's a genre of setting.
Around the 5 min mark he complains about not getting anything useful or nothing at all that’s like a main thing of a rogue like
Rogue like said 3 times almost written once
They gave it an 8
Ill stick to alienation
dungeon of the endless 2?
Denovu DRM, yeah no thanks ill just spend my money somewhere else.
Who cares lol. It's not like it's gonna tank your performance for this game.
Does this have couch coop?
no
