It bums me out so much when I see brands marketing their products as having a universal tint or a tint that suits all skin tones. Those are tints for the medium range. Neither super fair people, nor darker skinned individuals will be able to use them. I have yet to find a tint that doesn't make me look like an Oompa Loompa. Being very fair, I prefer a sunscreen with a white cast, as it blends better with my skin than a tinted one. As for people of colour or anyone who is darker, I can imagine that looking grey isn't fun or flattering. Brands need to offer at least a few shades to choose from, ranging from very fair to super dark, so even people in between shades can mix and match.

I'm also super fair and I recieved a tinted sunscreen as a gift which is too dark for me. I've been using it up by adding a small dot to my regular sunscreen which eradicates the purple/white cast without making my skin look orange.

Mychelle brand does make a tinted sunscreen for light to tan skin and it’s great because it’s a mineral sunscreen spf 50 and very liquidy so it’s not thick and dries to a matte finish. You can buy it at Whole Foods, Sprouts and Amazon. I usually use it in place of makeup.

I use the tinted mineral one and absolutely love it, not moisturizing enough for winter use (love Colorescience & Peter Thomas Roth's mineral tinted for that) but find the tint on the PC one works well for me and leaves no beige or casts of any kind. Applied it twice already today.😅😎 And agree, wish it's spf was higher.

Super Goop spf is 50 & works well for me. Makeup applies fine over it. I use it in Summer. PC is fine for me when I'm mainly staying indoors ( which is most of the time) I carry an umbrella at all times- it protects against rain & sun :)

You are looking younger and younger with each video! I’ve totally noticed that. Very pretty. I have a question. Since the colorscience 3 in 1 is just way too expensive for me, I’ve had the mineral colorscience corrector kit for a while and decided to try it over another eye sunscreen, after set of course... with the salmon color. It works, also great for spot correction on other parts of the face. I just wondered what your thoughts were on that product as another option. The kit does have 20 spf and is a creamy powder that soaks into the skin. It lasts forever.

Thanks for your incisive review of the PC sunscreens, Dr. Dray. I’ve used the PC cleansers, BHA, and a few other items with much success in that my very oily and acne prone skin has improved over the last several years. One major failure, however, has been the PC sunscreens, and I’ve tried most of them. Although I’m very light skinned, the mineral sunscreens have left a definite white cast and the tinted sunscreen was a bit dark. Similarly, the chemical sunscreens leave a definite shine on my skin and, while they don’t pill under foundation, the foundation just slips away quickly. Better choices for me have been the Elta MD Clear (which can pill under foundation), Exuviance and the newer Drmtlgy combination sunscreen. The Drmtlgy tinted sunscreen is a close match to my skin tone. I wouldn’t have known about the latter three sunscreens if I hadn’t started watching your channel...thanks for the help!

I love the PC Resist sunscreen but because the bottle is so small, I go in with an spf 50 (from another brand) first and then I put the PC one over top to eliminate the cast I get from the spf 50 - kind of like a bb cream / light foundation for over top. Works well for me because I hate wearing foundation but it still hides the cast and evens out my skintone a bit. Also, using it this way allows the product to go further since I'm basically just using it for the tint. It does pull a bit 'pink' on my skintone though, and I agree it's not a universal tint. I wish they would come out with different tints. Love your reviews, would love to see more on PC products. :)

I like having an array of sunscreens to choose from in the morning. When I get tired of one, I can start in on another. I think my skin used to get 'tired' of the same one everyday. As always, thanks so much for the info.

Thanks for review, Dr. Dray! Was wondering if you can wear the PC's Calm Redness Relief under eyes? This area is so sensitive for me that I can't even wear the Colorscience 3 in 1 under eye sunscreen. This sunscreen leaves my under eyes red and itchy. I am desperately looking for something that will work under my eyes.

Thanks for this comprehensive review! I just switched my teen daughter to the Paulas Choice CLEAR Ulta-Light Daily Hydrating Fluid SPF +30 for everyday use. It's apparently supposed to be good for "blemish prone skin". Was debating Paula's Choice water-resistant SPF 50 for the sports/pool/beach/etc. Will skip it based on your explanation that the chemical sunscreen doesn't last if it is wiped. Will likely have her try the Elta MD Sport.

Dr. Dray, I’m curious about what you think about all of these new “needle” patches for blemishes and wrinkles (Dr. Jart Focuspot, Acropatch, Peace Out, etc.). What are your thoughts on hydrocolloid bandages for blemish spots in general?

Thank you for all you do Dr. Dray. Question for you on blue light, I'm using tretinoin and PCA pigment gel at night, should I avoid using computers then? If not, how long is safe to use without contributing to more hyperpigmentation? Thanks.

Hi! We don't have this product here in Quebec. The price is higher because of the exchange rate of the Canadian dollar. Good news! The pharmacy where I take Cerave moisturizing lotion made a price freeze. The price here varies between $13 and $15 depending on the location. But now the price is $10. When it was on special, it was more expensive. The product must be sold in large quantities. For the moment, I apply Olay spf 30. But I take the time necessary for the application. I'm waiting for the temperature to get warmer. It's still autumn. Have a good day!

I hated the Calm one. It is toooooo shiny for my oily skin! I do like the Light Wrinkle defense SPF and the Youth Extending SPF. I will apply a first coverage of the tinted one the wait a minute and apply a 2nd layer from it. I try to blend it well. It looks pretty ok. Sometimes I feel it looks a bit pink for my complexion but only on certain artificial lightning. On natural light it looks pretty good.

Can you review Skinceuticals sunscreens? They have mineral and chemical sunscreens that people compare to EltaMD, I'm wondering what you think of them!

Is the 30 spf of the Super-Light Daily Wrinkle Defense enough if you are actually applying it liberally to get the full spf? I have this one and love it under makeup. Agree it’s moisturizing without being greasy. Does leave a grippy/tacky feeling to the skin. I just wish it had higher spf. Thanks for the great reviews.

I know you don't like makeup, but those of us with various types of discoloration need it. It's embarrassing otherwise. Tinted sunscreen isn't enough to cover roseacea, sadly. Thoughts?

I start sweating as soon as I put on anything on my face - moisturiser and sunscreen. I have used all kinds of vehicles from gel to lotion to cream to essence. I've also tried both mineral and chemical sunscreens but I am not sure if I get enough protection. To be on a safe side, I do put on the sunscreen in every 2 hours. Could you please make a Q&A on the types of vehicle in sunscreen that are suitable on each types of skin?

Hi dr Dray. Thanks for the reviews. I tried Defence mineral and also the primer. I liked using the primer but for the price you get really not much so I think the point is really not to use it as a sunscreen but as a bit of a primer under make up. Although the consistency is really nice but for that price i would definitely not use a full amount. Other reviews from PC are welcome, there are many people who like her products.

Hello Dr. Dray. Thank you so much for your videos. They have been very helpful. I have been trying to figure out a sunscreen that will suit my skin and not make me look like a white ghost for a long time. I have very dry skin and most of the sunscreens make my skin look flaky. I tried sunscreen from Alba Botanica, while it doesn't bother my skin at all but it makes my eyes a little watery. Is it something normal or not?
