The amount of sunscreen that has been slathered on my skin this summer is 10x more than the amount I have done in my entire life, and that is thanks to you Dr Dray!

Same here, as well. I have 7 different sunscreens right now (so 7 tubes of different brands) in my sunscreen arsenal. That is 6 more than what I would have in any given summer (because that's the only time I would think about sunscreen). I apply every morning and reapply at least once during the day, most days, more than that.
      Thank you, Dr Dray!

I think most people think that using sunscreen is just for preventing sunburn. They won't use it because they think they don't burn or they want some color. What they don't realize is what constant sun exposure does to your skin over time. ..wrinkles, sun spots and the worst thing skin cancer. Maybe they should make some scary skin cancer commercials like they do the anti smoking commercials.

Hi Dr. Dray. I've been using the Aveeno baby sunscreen for sensitive skin, spf 50, 100% zinc oxide. I'm LOVING it on my face. Just a tip for all the make-up wearers out there. My face powder ran out last week. Instead of buying E.L.F finishing powder in "light" or ivory, I accidentally bought the next darker shade "light/medium". I don't put my make-up on until after I walk my dog in the a.m. But, the aveeno zinc sunscreen was making me look VERY pasty white and greasy. I decided to apply the E.L.F finishing powder over the sunscreen, just to look less greasy. The darker shade completely cancelled out the white cast (and the shine) and left my skin looking flawless!😵😵 BEST mistake purchase I've ever made.👍👍

I use the cerave moisturizing spf 30. I like it but it does pile. I originally went to a dermatologist in May for treatment of rosacea. Tried a few things that just didn’t work for me however the nurse practitioner noticed a mole on the right side of my face in the hairline. So they shaved it off. I thought no big deal I’ve had it for years and wasn’t concerned. So pathology came back as questionable for melanoma. I was completely surprised by this as I have always had a darker skin tone as a Caucasian. I thought skin cancers only happened to fair skinned people. 🤷🏻‍♀️ well I had more cells removed with a punch until they got “ healthy” cells which they did. So the dermatologist said it was pre melanoma. So as much as I hate having rosacea I guess you could say it saved my life. It was just very scary thinking about maybe being deformed for being stupid to not wear sunscreen when I was younger. But I grew up in the 80s when we didn’t really know about the dangers of the sun. Now I’m trying to “treat” my rosacea with sunscreen and cerave hydrating face wash and cerave moisturizers and Dr Drays advice so thank for that Dr Dray

I have become a sunscreen addict ever since finding you 6 months ago! My favorite sunscreen for my body is Banana Boat Ultra Sport SPF 50+. On most days, for my face I use the La Roche Posay Fragrance Free Shaka Sunscreen 50+ as a base all over my face, ears and neck; Colorscience Total Eye 3 in 1 around my eyes and brow bone, and Colorscience Sunforgettable Face Shield on areas where I have hyper-pigmentation and/or acne scars. On other days, for my face I just use the Drmtlgy Broad Spectrum SPF 45 and the Colorscience Total Eye 3 in 1. I always use the Vanicream Lip Protectant Sunscreen on my lips multiple times a day. I have become an expert at reapplying too. I carry whatever sunscreen I used in the morning with me in my purse. In my desk drawer I have Eucerin Daily Hydration Broad Spectrum SPF 30 for my hands and the Vanicream for my lips. I am dark skinned and I do this three times daily! Lol. Thank you Dr. Dray!!! Thank you for yet another great review Dr. Dray! 😊
I have a question, on the off chance you may read this: I’ve been hearing a lot lately that chemical sunscreens aren’t as good for you if you’re dealing with melasma. I understand the difference between the two, but I thought it didn’t matter what kind of sunscreen we used as long as we’re compliant, it’s SPF 30 (or higher), we re-apply, and our skin tolerates it well.
Could you please clarify? What about combination sunscreens? Thank you so much in advance!!
Sending you love from Canada 💕

About ombrelle sunscreen I use the spf 45 face one Dr Dray recommended. I have asian medium skin, and i experience a very minimal cast. Its very nice. But i must recommend anyone who is looking for a sunscreen as a primer to try the ombrelle spf 60 complete sensitive advanced sheer touch formula! It is the BEST texture a sunscreen could possibly get. It feels like a lightweight moisturizer that leave u a soft matte finish! I personally only use it when I will wear alot of make up on top because it only contains 0.5% of Mexoryl XL compares to the spf 45 face which contains a higher percentage of both Mexoryl XL and SX which is much more stable as DR Dray mentioned. But to those who can get this, don't splurge on getting any expensive sunscreen or spf primer, not worth it

Hi Dr. Dray. I always value your reviews and recommendations. I bought the Colorescience 3-in-1 eye and the Colorscience face tint sunscreen over the summer and found them both to be very drying but my skin is much older than yours. I love the DRMTLGY and think it's a very good value. I also forget to apply the lip spf so I keep it in my purse and apply it in my car (when I think of it) . You are probably doing more to prevent skin cancer than anyone on YT.

You gotta be more specific than that, if you want a useful answer.
But generally speaking, she doesn’t approve of most of them. As in peelings, essential oils and such. A lot of these things can cause/aggravate sensitivities - or at the very least don’t have proven benefits.
If you go on the channel main side and look through the playlists or use the search function, you’ll likely find your answer there though. There are videos about almost every skincare ingredient/treatment options for various issues there.

@@aly7409 Hi Aly, for me the Drmtlgy is more like a light moisturizer and spreads well over serums, ie damp skin. Colorscience is a bit heavier and spreads better over dry skin and is better for outdoors because it's waterproof. I personally use Drmtlgy as first application and Colorscience second sunscreen application of the day.

I have medium-dark, combination skin (that leans more oily). I'm also acne prone. The sunscreens I've used up and adore are the EltaMD UV Sport SPF 50, EltaMD UV Clear SPF 46 and DRMTLGY Anti-Aging SPF 45 (ALL per your recommendation Andrea thank you kindly :))
I use each of these for a different purpose. When I head to the gym, the beach or when it's a no make-up day for me, I use the EltaMD UV Sport SPF 50. I find there is no cast on my skin when this sunscreen settles in which is in a minute or two after application. This looks great on darker, oily skin and the texture it leaves is a healthy, moisturized (not greasy or shiny) glow. I can wear this on its own confidently and reapply with no issue.
I use EltaMD UV Clear SPF 46 ONLY when I am wearing makeup or tinted moisturizer. I find that this sunscreen does not look it's best on its own, on my deeper skin tone and pills on reapplication. However, it serves as an excellent make-up primer for oily skin. It is literally better than any primer I've paid for.
Now the DRMTLGY Anti-Aging SPF 45 is literally my in-between product. If I start the day out without makeup and I know there is a possibility I will wear makeup later in the day, I will wear this guy! I'm comfortable enough to wear this alone if I want to but it also does a pretty good job under makeup. I find that this does have what I describe as a "pearlescent" (lol) finish on my skin tone but it doesn't look bad in my opinion. This reapplies nicely and I like the way it smells 😫 lol.
I hope this was helpful for the women and men of color looking for sunscreen as well and anyone else with a combo/oily acne-prone skin type. Thanks again Andrea for sharing your knowledge with us and changing our skin's future! 😩💜

I like the Elta MD UV Physical Broad Spectrum SPF 41 tinted as my daily and also the Australian Gold Mineral SPF 50 tinted on weekends. Both work well. I tried the Sun Bum Mineral SPF 30 tinted but it seems to not set and slip a lot on my face. And settles into wrinkles.

It is the coolest skin care product I have every applied. It has great UV protection but it is the absolute most water resistant sunscreen I have ever used bar none. Also, Im still finishing up Coppertone for sensitive skin and banana boat simply protect, however I find them a bit too drying on my face for some reason, so I use them mainly as body sunscreens. My most recent purchase is la roche posay anthelios derma pediatrics - it contains great chemical filters and comes in 250ml tube!
