    Somebody “lifted” the LR3 by using non-stock suspension height sensors. This tricks the vehicle into thinking it is lower than it actually is...which in turn puts the vehicle into off-road height mode with the display showing normal ride height. That’s why the vehicle doesn’t ride well. It’s much harsher in the higher ride height. It’s also less stable towing in that mode.

      Exactly, the 200 series wasn't out when the LR3 was new. The LR4 was the one to compare which has way more power plus the stupid remarks about reliability showed his bias.

    The factory tow package on the LR3 allows the tow hitch to be removed (well if the previous owner hasn't left it installed and it's rusted in place), gaining you departure angle. That aftermarket one is always in the way. The factory kit also includes 7 pin and 4 pin wiring. Did you see the Towing icon on the dash? I'm not certain on this, but the LR3 has some pretty impressive trailer sway control (there's a factory video showing this), what I'm not sure about is whether or not that is activated without the factory tow package. The one very BIG annoying thing about the factory tow package is that it does NOT recognize LED trailer lights. So the Tow icon on the dash only lights up (flashes) when you have the turn signals on. With normal incandescent trailer lights it recognizes there is a trailer hooked up.

    • @Legoguy1979
      @Legoguy1979 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You're, right it isn't activated. Like, mine came from the factory towing package and if you go in the car config file, you have to enable tow hitch installed to enable otherwise it won't recognize trailers and you lose all the trailer controls. Also, I too have the quick release hitch that came with it and like you said, it got left in there so now it's rusted and I may have accidentally smash the plastics hitch lock thing. Also to fix the led issue I put relays in my lr3 trailer wiring behind the tailight

    My 2013 LC was used last winter to make multiple trips from Oregon to Texas and back, pulling a stack of car trailers each time (28k miles). I pulled as much as 10,500 lbs with no problem. If you put helper air-bags in the back, you are ready for bear. The gearing is taller than a new Tundra which is actually fine. It doesn't scream in 3rd gear when you are pulling up an incline with a load.

The Disco's suspension components are 14 years old, the LC200 has brand new Old Man Emu upgrades. Brand new Load E all terrain tires, brand new brake controller. BTW the LC is supposed to compete with the RR not the Disco. The 23% more displacement in the engine might have clued you in. Lx570 tows better, seriously if anyone wants to tow with a 200 get an LX. AHC to lower vehicle under the trailer then raise it up. Auto levels with a much more reliable hydraulic suspension vs. The air suspension of the Land Rover. Add airbags to rear and can go up to 8500 lbs. at least.

      I tow very regularly with our Sequoia. It has rear air suspension and it works flawlessly. We tow an almost 7000lb trailer with 4 kids and our dog. We pretty much max the GVW but the beast doesn't complain one bit! The air springs with IRS and adjustable shocks make for a quality ride loaded or empty. I would imagine the LX would be a little nicer when towing given the 8 speed transmission. Never had to opportunity to drive one so not sure what the hydraulic suspension is like.

    Bad comparison. Do a 70mph chicane with the trailer then you'll see the difference. The LC will be on its roof. The trailer behind the LR might be on two wheels for an instant but back in line real quick.
    There's a big technology difference between these two cars regardless of the bonnet badge.
