So what do you think would happen if Rory had stayed with Jess? Also, if you liked this video, be sure to watch Jess VS Logan: Who Is the Better Boyfriend?: th-cam.com/video/o_cLwKScMfY/w-d-xo.html
If Rory had stayed with Jess she would have stayed “sheltered” she wouldn’t have been “adventurous”. “People can live a hundred years without ever really living for a minute. You do this with me, it’s one less minute you haven’t lived” that is what Logan taught her. If she stayed with Jess she would have been stuck just like her mother. And then you talk about Logan’s family treatment of Rory and how they made her “drop out of school” that has nothing to do with Logan’s family or even his father. That has something to do Rory who was told that she was great and told that she was superior by everyone around her. And when she farted they said it smelled like roses, so she couldn’t take a little bit of criticism. That has nothing to do with Logan’s family at all. Apart from that his family wasn’t nice to her. They were assholes to her, but that doesn’t even matter because he treated her like a queen. You want to talk about bad treatment of Rory. Look no further than Jess. He was a dick to her, he was a dick to her mother, he was a dick to Luke. He was a dick to everyone. The only time he stopped being a dick was when she wasn’t even in his life anymore. With Logan, he tried to have a relationship with Luke(but Luke was a cunt and was short with him and short with Lorelai and frustrated and a fucking douche) but Logan tried to get to know him and tried to have a relationship with him because he knows what he means to Rory. And once again, Jess was a cunt to Luke. He was very respectful to her mother, he even asked her permission for Rory’s hand in marriage. One again, Jess was a dick to her mother. Jess didn’t have a relationship with Christopher but I’m sure he would have been a cunt, Logan liked Christopher and Christopher liked Logan. And Logan treated her like a queen, just because he didn’t play kiss ass to her doesn’t mean that he didn’t treat her like a queen. If we are going off of this Logan is Christopher and Jess is Luke thing. Jess is going to stay in Stars Hollow and Rory deserves more than that. Jess isn’t going to want kids or want to get married and Rory deserves better than that. When he was 20 something Logan wanted to marry Rory, he even proposed to her. They could have been married by now and had children and she wouldn’t have to be struggling to get a job and having to write a book that probably wouldn’t go anywhere and she would be rich in love and happiness and rich in money. You are completely disregarding the way that he treated her to say that “they both like books” so the fuck what. He was a douche to her. She was miserable with him. The most miserable she was, was when she was with him. When did he push her out of her comfort zone? When Logan met her he even said that she was sheltered and that she hadn’t lived yet. And Rory tried to encourage Jess but he was disinterested. When they were together Jess showed no sign of wanting to be a better. Of wanting to be a man. So I don’t know where “I couldn’t have done it without you” came from. And I have problems with Jess yelling at Rory about Yale. Her own mother whose opinion she cares about most in the world, her mother who is her best friend couldn’t convince her to get her shit together. But someone she hasn’t seen for years comes back yells at her makes her feel like crap and she’s getting her shit together? Yeah, I don’t... I’m convinced that this video was made just to piss me off. I love your channel. But this was just not it. You should do a “what if Rory had married Logan” because I realise you hate Logan(the best guy for her) but I would curious about what you would have to say. Also, team Logan forever.
The scene where Jess and Paris ( a friendship we all missed out on) were getting along and when he checked Rory about dropping out of Yale, living with her grandparents, behaving like someone unlike herself (she wasn't speaking to her mother either!), and making excuses for Logan's douche behavior is when it really clicked to me that Jess was the one for her. He would support her even past their relationship and can intellectually match with her. Rory's relationship with Logan was constantly up and down she would have been a Shira Huntzberger to him if they had stayed together. That scene where Rory was crying on the bathroom floor asking why wasn't she good enough turned me off from shipping her and Logan. I would have loved to see them separate and grow in that time then come together again in the end. Team Jess!
Yeah, I guess we all wanna ignore the fact that Jess tried to come and talk her into dropping out of Yale and running away with him just a few months into her time there. Then got all pissy when she didn't want to - just like he got all pissy when she wouldn't have sex with him upstairs at a party. Jess spent 90% of his time on the show proving he didn't "get" Rory at all, they just had similar taste in reading material.
@@luellaashforth2292 lmfao that is NOT how "being related" works. they have absolutely zero blood in common because they were born way before Luke and Lorelai got married...
I feel like Dean represented what Lorelai wanted from Rory and Logan what Rory's grandparents wanted for her. Jess was the only one that let Rory be herself and has always put her back on track, because he knew who she was and what she wanted. I have to admit though that back in season 3 he wasn't a good boyfriend because he still needed to figure out himself, later in the series in fact we see his growth. I feel like if they hadn't broken up it would have been a toxic relationship, but now that they made their experiences they're ready to return together. Just, timing for them wasn't that good
She said in an interview that she wanted to end the original show like this. Can you imagine watching this back then and being thrown that xrappy ending?
Well i could not be more gutted. My theory is rory got pregnent for luke and lorali through paris clinic. Logan is rorys chris and jess is her luke. But it was a terrible story and a terrible ending.
Honestly! That was Jess finest moment in the entire show! He screamed the truth in her face and I loved every minute of it. He was the one who always knew Rory better.
The things that bugs me now that I'm older is when people say Jess was a bad influence or not a good fit in the beginning is look at what he was going through, he doesn't have a dad, his mom is kooky and they both reject him. It's a lot for someone to go through in high school. Thats why he, as a character, looks so freaking awesome because we saw him grow while the other guys didn't. Even Rory didn't change or challenge herself in later seasons or revival(but I blame that on writing).
He was abusive. I like what he became but I don't like how awful he was to everyone and people excuse it because he had some tough things going on. His mom loved him, did not reject him but could not manage him and asked her brother for help. Jess was a jerk to his mom and needed help. He treated everyone horribly. Rory had a boyfriend who built her a car and that little shit wrecked it. What has Jess ever done for her?
@@CindyDingus Dean built her a car, so now he owns her future? Nope. The episode where they were book shopping was the moment that relationship was dead, they just didn't have common interests or common goals. In what way was he abusive? Sassy, snarky, rude but never abusive. His mother SENT him away, how is that NOT a rejection? Luke telling him he had to leave was because 'hey I've got these rules, if you don't abide by them you can't live rent free with me'. Making it Jess' decision to leave instead of forcing him to move. The car getting wrecked was an accident. Jess would never put Rory in danger. He solves everything in Rory's life. Everything. He becomes just sorta a plot device especially in the revival. Dropping out of Yale who gets her to go back? Break up with Logan(which she shoulda done forever ago but now he's our Christopher bleh), what Rory should do with her aimless life, write a book...about what? Jess answers that too, her and her mother.
@@dietdrpepper15 he is constantly verbally and emotionally abusive to everyone, especially Rory. He is an abuser. Building a car is just one of the many examples where Dean always puts Rory first. He always comes running when she needs him. Jess runs from everyone. His mom sent him for help and expecting him to follow rules is not abandonment. It is called being a good guardian. Jess realizes how bad he is as an adult but he didn't at that time. He is good now but a horrible human being as a teen. Horrible influence. A thief. Vandal. And never acted like he was responsible for the vehicle or owed an apology. Name one thing he did for Rory. Nothing. Absolutely nothing. I watched the whole series last year. He is an abuser. That emo bad stuff is fun to romanticize as a kid but no grown up should not be able to see how vile he is. Dean is better than the other two as a human being but not right for her necessarily either. All are awful but Rory is the worst of all.
@@CindyDingus They were pranks, sorry you don't got a sense of humor. He didn't want to be there, and it's a lot to ask a 17 year old to be sent to a little town where he is always the outsider. When does he verbally abuse rory? Uh never. He calls her out on her shit, shit she and the town doesn't like to to admit to. Dean puts Rory first but he doesn't know or like her very much. He just likes to possess her. She can't even befriend other guys because he feels threatened. Do these guys like her sure, but he needs to trust her, which he doesn't. I do agree the older I get the more I see that Rory wasn't NOT a great character, and it is just painful to watch that continue in the revival.
@@dietdrpepper15 he calls the town and her out? For what exactly? He basically wants to pull Rory down to his shitty level so he mocks her and everyone she cares about. His pranks aren't funny. They are a show of how big a bully and disrespectful he is. He wrecks her car, disrespects her mom and everyone else, doesn't go to school, steals, vandalized things, makes fun of everyone in a cruel manner. As a teenage girl I would have found his emo bad boy persona cute and been team Jess but I grew up and no, it isn't cute. You still haven't given actual examples of things he did for Rory. I keep trying to come up with some and cannot because they don't exist.
I love how everyone forgets that Jess wanted Rory to drop out of Yale , forget her family at the end, and runaway to New York with him at the end of season 4.
@@SammyWinchester Jess said that one time in an impulsive manner where we don't know where he was mentally, he literally looked like a mess as much as I love Jess. And after that he encouraged her to go back to Yale, so I'd say it cancels out if not more.
Farrell Stillman I agree. She kind of took a step backwards in maturity. And also became a sort of snob. It took Jess to come back and basically yell at her to get her back on track. And Jess being her Luke is exactly what I think. I see Rory as Lorelai and Jess as Luke. Jess will totally turn into a surrogate father to Rory’s child.
Farrell Stillman totally!! They don’t need to, but it would be seriously great if they brought back the cast for one more season where it confirms this!
@@farrellanne90 I agree with you about how she acted in later seasons. I also think she behaved badly in every relationship but in different ways. She was not honest with Dean and should have cut him lose earlier. I think that would have saved them both some heartache because like Luke was for Lorelei, he was always there to bail Rory out and pined for her. With Jess he was so manipulative and ugly to people, including how he talked to and treated her at times, and she allowed it. She made excuses like a victim. I think she is sweet but didn't like that they painted her as so enamored by him that he could mistreat people and she would say "it wasn't his fault." I think the writer has painted Rory as a pretty annoying person. I was annoyed with her by the time she got to Yale but it wasn't Logan who made her like that. He just made it more pronounced
@@chickadee915 I know, the pregnancy thing. I just don't think it's the same situation. Lorelai was a girl, Rory is a grown woman not a mature woman but she is fully grown, different circumstances
Rory doesn't deserve him though... Like, in the end, Jess ended up getting in the right track, shaped up to be an amazing young man with a kind heart, and then we have Rory having one night stands with a wookie and being Logan's side chick. Like, get it together, woman!
Don't forget the boyfriend she forgets about (Paul). Like who can honestly be in a 2 year relationship with someone and 'forget' about him. They totally changed her character - and not in a good way 🤔
You know, it just occurred to me that Paul might be the Dean stand-in for adult Rory. This reliable guy she just drags around and strings along and forgets about at her convenience. Showing that she has not matured since sixteen. @@fallenhalo1854
Jess would be good for Rory if she would just grow up. When they first started dating, she was too good for him, but then it switched and now he’s way too good for her. She needs to accept that she’s a bad journalist and could make a good teacher, settle down, and start having respect for people (including Loralei) and herself. Until that happens, Logan is who she deserves.
Couldn't agree more! 👍🏼 She behaved like a self-pitying, immature crybaby, who felt like she was too good for everyone and everything. I was very disappointed about how the series developed her character. Although it made sense... Both Lorelai and Rory weren't very good partners to their men because they were very focussed on themselves. But in the end it's just a fairytale and the writers had the guts to express themselves the way they wanted to...
There are all types of journalists and she thinks she either has to be top dog at New York Times or work for free at Stars Hollow. That was the dumbest thing. Go make 30k a year at a small daily rather than work for free at Stars Hollow. But she is privileged with rich grandparents. Lorelei, who busted her butt as a maid and worked her way up should be a little disappointed in her daughter's mindset
Arguably it was Rory's rejection of Jess that was the final making of him. Rory was the love of his life; if he wasn't good enough for her, what was he going to do? The answer is, slowly become more trustworthy and in touch with his gifts. He credits Rory with making him write a book; by the end, they come full circle and he can help Rory. Presumably, at some point, Jess will have to reject Rory somehow to get her to turn her life around for full symmetry, but they are ultimately endgame. The look at the end makes them endgame. He'll wait, the way Luke waited.
I'll say this once: They messed up Rory's character the moment she got to Yale, and suddenly, Jess was too good for her. If Rory has went to Harvard and maybe take some time with Jess, when she graduated, they could've stayed together, yet, they went for the other story and Rory's whole life went down and turned up awful.
UGH YES! Everyone who says otherwise was clearly not even paying attention to the actual message of the show like that was all wrong. I don't even know if I think she should have stayed with Jess, but he was a great influence on her 100% like even if they weren't together they are really good friends, and like if they got back together I would absolutely not be upset because he was the only guy she dated who actually understood her.
Rory and Jess are great together because they both have their flaws and are both very open with each other about those flaws, which is important in growing together. A perfect relationship isn’t two perfect people having kids and settling down, it’s two people being honest with each other and wanting each other to be the best version of themselves. Jess was the only person she was with in the series that didn’t make her feel like she needed to hide her mistakes and the imperfect parts of herself to keep him around. They both definitely needed time apart to really find their place in life, but it’s a freakin crime that she didn’t end up with him in the reboot.
"are both very open with each other about those flaws" how? Jess never even admitted he was poked by a stupid swan, he never told her he was struggling with school, he never admitted he was suffering because of his mom being a mess and his dad being completely out of the picture.
@@cinnymoongirl Yeah the swan thing he was just embarrased about, the flunking out of school well yeah he was embarrased about that too, he was young, and had a lot of problems, but he grew up, and learned from them, like she said they both have their flaws, but always tried to push each other to be the best versions of themselves.
@@cinnymoongirl yoooo 💯💯💯👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 absolutely agreeing with this. Jess had youth and trauma to blame for sure, but he was not accountable for his actions at all until he matured and got it together years down the road. He didn't care that he had flaws at all.
I disagree. Rory didn't go through her rebel teen phase coupled with a sheltered life hence her breakdown later in life. Not a big fan of their pairing but they always had a connection the others didn't so I believe he would have pushed her to be better as she did for him in their teens and she would never have spiralled out of control
@@favour3734 as much as I found the original comment hilarious i do agree with you. I also like the fact that you don't necessarily have to like their pairing to see they'd fit well. I personally like them all but prefer Jess.
@@favour3734 I actually think Rory would have still spiraled out of control even in a relationship with Jess through college but I think Jess would have grounded her and helped her to get through it rather than enable her. But I ultimately believe that they both had separate and necessary journeys to take apart from one another. I just wish that they could have taken the time that they needed to find themselves and then come back to one another.
@@signalfire15 Great point, she probably would've still spiraled but Jess would have help keep her on track. They unfortunately didn't have good timing cos they are the best fit of the 3 main guys she dated in the original show
the thing is tho, Jess was the only one who really fought to keep her, Dean gave up after a few months but Jess came back year after year to try again.
Dean had already been through her not saying she loved him after six months together and her accepting the massive gift of a car he built* (and had Gypsy check for safety repeatedly); spending the better part of a year flirting with, dating, and kissing other guys while she let him think they were together; and her leaving the country immediately after sleeping with him (then stringing him along until she found the next boy.) He spent years trying, and people hate him for it. I just feel sad for him, and sad for Lindsay that she got caught up in the dysfunction between him and Rory. *She did not owe him an I love you by any means, but I think it is understandable for him to be upset when she gave every sign that they were in a serious relationship until he shared his feelings. Then, she wanted that relationship to continue purely on her terms. I think he felt misled and strung along, and while I don't think Rory intended to do so at that moment...she would do it intentionally later.
I guess I’m part of the 1% of people who was never a fan of Jess during the original run. In the revival tho, Adult Rory doesn’t even deserve Adult Jess. I’ll acknowledge Jess was able to mature and reach his potential, but I think that maturity happened without Rory by his side.
She so doesn't deserve Jess with who she is now. She lost he virginity with Dean (who was married) and now was cheating with Logan! I think that her mom should have been more angry at Rory when she told her about Logan. PS, what is with Lauren's nose job . . .
@@luellaashforth2292 They are not really related. Luke is indeed Rory's Stepfather but Jess is only his Nephew so I guess that does make them Step-Cousins. But they are definitely not related by blood.
Rory and Jess called dibs first! Also Jess knew that Luke loved Lorelai the whole time, and Luke knew Jess loved Rory the whole time Jess would give him crap about stuff all the time, even after Luke and Lorelai were together Jess still pursued Rory, they called dibs first though so wouldn't it make Luke and Lorelai the weird ones?
it'd be funny if it turned out to be the guy in the Wookie suit :P lol, yeah I think most of us would hope it's Jess but it's frustratingly most likely Logan....
I dont know, i get that some people want that but others want other things like having a successful career or something else not involving getting married or having kids
RedRoseSeptember22 but that’s why film and television are such great mediums. settling down doesn’t HAVE to be the happy ending and that’s really not what most of the series told us rory wanted.
Kallisto Indrani Agreed!! Was so disappointed in this ending too. I wish now that I did not watch the revival and just left the original show ending in my mind.
Well, this logic doesn't work in Gilmore Girls. Lorelai never cheated on Max, still she said she never loved him. She confessed Luke is the only one she loved, but ended up cheating on him with Christopher in the last episode of season 6. So, for the creator of the show, Amy Sherman-Palladino, the fact you don't cheat is not equivalent of love. Just bringing some perspective about the show storyline. In the end, I think Rory is raising the child alone or with a new guy she meets along the way in her new journey.
I really hope there’s a season 2 of the revival. We were left on a HUGE cliffhanger, Rory being pregnant, her being single, Jess giving the look in the window, her writing a book, Lorelai thinking about buying a new place for the inn, Sookie coming back, Luke and Lorelai just getting married, and Michel leaving the inn. WE NEED MORE..Rory needs to grow up, stop cheating, and GET IT TOGETHER!!! Her and Jess are perfect..they would have both been great together, and I think he would’ve gotten her on a better path.
The person who wrote the show didn’t think the end was cliffhanger and didn’t expect people to make it about the love life. So Maybe the person who wrote the show wants to make more because that’s not the ending she was expecting.
If Rory had stayed with Jess I would be able to watch more episodes of Gilmore girls (like anything after season 5) without feeling like I wanna cry... the revival was a travesty and it either should have been continued to show more or it shouldn't have happened at all...
actually I kind of wanted her to give Marty a chance....early on at Yale he was a good friend & they had the chemistry but....yeah...and when he came back in the final season pretending not to know her he was a bit of a dick. Still, I often wonder how they could have been as a couple.
That's not true, if she'd stay with jess she wouldn't cheat on him because he was the only one who actually believed in her potential and didn't force Rory to be someone she wasn't. Dean once made fun of her because she made pro and con lists for everything. Logan didn't understand her ironic way of writing on papers. Jess was just perfect, they had the same idea but different behaviors. That's it
Quite frankly I liked them all. I feel like they were all what she needed in the time of her life she was currently in. I liked Logan for her a lot but I don't like that he can never really stand up for her and decide for himself what he wants to do with his life. I feel like with how the revival ended, Jess would end up being more involved in Rory's life and would end up together if Logan doesn't do anything for Rory and the baby.
I used to not like Jess, but I gotta say that when Rory started being a prissy society girl, he told her the damn truth. And there’s nothing more respectable and mature than that.
Dean was her first love, Logan was just a guy she just needed to meet to grow as a person.. but Jess, Jess was her soulmate. I wish that they did a revival. They’re open to it, I hope that we get the ending we all want! Rory + Jess ❤️
Jess is her Luke. In comparison to luke and lorelai, they'll realise their feelings faster, get together faster, he'll raise Rory's daughter like his own and maybe even have a baby together at a later time but not too late (or at least that's how i see it - my 'happy ending')
Bruh why can nobody see that Luke and Lorelai were HORRIBLE together? They kept secrets, lied, never were on the same page, fought, and the only scenes I can remember of them are sex scenes and fighting. Sure they were cute when they flirted but that was the extent.
@@annie.goobian they both never had a very good serious relationship to teach the maturity they needed to be good for each other in their relationship, explains why it took them so long to get together and finally get married in the revival. but you’re right, it’s different w jess he grew apart from her and rory took a step back where as luke and lorelai grew more so together but it took so long bc they had a lot of issues
In season 2 of the show there was an obvious storyline developing for Rory and Tristan but the actor for Tristan left for One Tree Hill and the writers wanted to explore a storyline where Rory was attracted to the world her mother left ( in the shape of a boy ), so because they're was no Tristan they created Logan, but Logan (in my opinion) is god awful and he just brought out the spoiled brat in Rory. Before people go in, yes Rory was a spoiled brat just not in the traditional sense. She was doted on by the entire town her entire life and she never had any real discipline because she wasn't a "problem child" but that didn't help her. She whined every time she argued with one of her boyfriends, and even went as far as having the whole town hate dean for something that was her fault. When she was with Logan, she dropped out of collge for the wrong reasons which made Lorelai open her eyes. Emily and Richard opened their eyes soon after too. Jesse was the only boyfriend who wouldn't put up with her bullshit. Yes, they had issues but it was never about what was within their relationship it was always outside of the relationship. But then again sometimes I'm glad rory didn't end up with Jess because Jess moved to be great while Rory stayed stagnant-ish and I'm afraid if they stayed together Jess would have given into Rory and not achieve the things I am proud of him for achieving. This is just me saying that Jess is good for Rory but Rory isn't good for Jess. P.S: I'm not opposed to the writers giving Rory time to explore the world her mother left (I would have actually loved to see something blossom between Rory and Tristan). I just don't like Logan or the way they went about it with Logan.
I agree with you! This totally opened my eyes, i love this show with my entire heart and i think ive just always liked how logan expanded rory to be more than one thing. However, it is still true that jess was kinda shit to rory. I think it also comes down to the main producers for the show changing during the last 2 seasons, but i still adore the show!
I loved that they showed Rory flailing in her career in the revival. A lot of us fail in our careers in our 30s. I honestly found her so much more relatable then “perfect Rory” But some of her privilege becomes grating.
Me too, I was happy with this failing Rory. Actually, Paris told her, that Chilton's valedictorian never ends well in later life. So haha Paris was right. She was always my favorite after Lorelai.
Ana Wieder yes! You’re right. She’s intelligent she would overcome anything and have a great life. In my mind her book becomes best seller and turned into a movie or TV series. And she will end up with Jess and both will become accomplished writers
I like that she was relatable I think the sad thing was her family was so invested in top her having a life that's better than Lorelei. Lorelei always said don't end up like me and that's exactly who she ended up like.
The only person Jess trusts is Rory. Really the only person he wants to talks to or talks to is Rory. She’s the only friend he made while in town. P.S. The only other of person Jess ever talked was Luke but he didn’t talk to Luke as much as he does to Rory
Look at how well trying to work with Logan worked out? If she had focused on herself or been with Jess I feel like things would have turned out a lot better for her. Jess and Rory bring out the best in each other just like Luke and Lorelai.
Rory didn’t bring out the best in Jess. Jess wasn’t graduating high school when they were together. He was on a downward spiral. He needed that time apart by himself to really mature and get himself together. I think if they would’ve gotten together after Logan and Rory went on a break after the first time things would’ve turned out differently. I credit Jess for helping Rory to get back into school.
@@SimplyChillin. as much as I like them as a couple Jess needed this breakup to develop as a person and find out what he really wants for himself without Rory.
If Rory stayed with him how he was at first he would have kept putting her through all kinds of crap and being emotionally unavailable. He needed to grow up.
I agree, they needed the time apart to allow for them both to grow up. Prior to the revival, I always imagined that they reconnected in Philly when the campaign tour went through, sadly we now know that was not the case. I did like to see Jess all grown up and an actual mature adult, Rory seemed to have regressed quite a bit in the revival. I still am holding out hope that, no matter whose baby it is, Jess will step up to support Rory, even if it is just as a friend (although I think the majority hope it would be more than that) like Luke did as Rory grew up.
I like them together but if anything Jess matured and developed because his breakup with Rory was a wake-up call. He wouldn't have been the same if they stayed together.
I have to say that I was team Jess from the beginning. I found Dean to be boring and too simple in his way of thinking about life. He didn’t do anything to encourage or expand Rory’s life and mental development. Jess kept her on her toes and kept sparks in their every interaction. He encompasses pure stimulation in every facet of life.
Does anyone else think that they will one day bring Gilmore Girls back and it be Rory in her mom’s place raising her daughter on her own in Stars Hollow, but Jess will be like Luke? There is a very brief scene towards the end of the revival finale where Jess looks longingly at Rory. Makes me think he never stopped loving her, if only people in movies or TV shows just COMMUNICATE. Yada yada I know there would not be any story line or plot or whatever, it’s just still frustrating.
I admit jess wasn’t a great boyfriend at first but after he left and came back to say he wrote a book he came back a changed man. And I believe that Rory didn’t deserve him but the potential Rory that jess could help her become is the Rory that is perfect for jess and always will be. Dean and Logan are jerks period. Now can team Dean and team Logan admit that. No.
When they first dated: Jess wasn’t good enough for Rory When Rory and Logan dated: Rory wasn’t good enough for Jess Right people at the wrong time, honestly
I completely agree with you, Rory’s life would have been so infinitely better if her and Jess had stayed together, so much awfulness could have been avoided and they would have pushed each other to be their best selves.
I think that, even though her relationship with Logan had a lot of related issues, he did kind of end up helping her a little in encouraging her. Don't get me wrong, most of what she went through with him was unnecessary, and I don't think that she should be waiting for him, as it kind of seems like she may have been doing before he told her that he was going to marry his other girlfriend in the revival series. Honestly, part of me is hoping that the pregnancy thing comes with an even bigger plot twist, and the kid's father is Jess. I think that at the time of the revival series, they're both mature and together enough to handle being in a relationship together, but she's still too hung up on Logan. I could definitely see Jess stepping in and helping Rory out even if the kid isn't his though.
This "what if" is the one that haunts me everytime I think abt it, like.. they were perfect for each other and the fact that they had time to experience things on their own and discover themselves... oh it makes me so mad
oh god, when they started talking about having a massive collection of books. My heart just started beating faster. I just spent 500 dollars on a set of almost 100 yo issues of my favourite books. I dont have where to put them yet, but when I have a bigger apartment you betcha i will have a big library and I hope my future boyfriend loves books too.
Yes. I do think Jess was the worst, because I can think of nice things the other two did for her when they didn't have their awful moments. But when I rewatched it recently I was struck by how Rory was bored when she had the guy and he was good but made excuses and seemed more drawn to the guys when they were assholes. She lost interest in Dean when she had him and then wanted him once he had another girl. She loved to defend Jess and his awful behavior and seemed to like Logan more when he was unfaithful. Am I wrong? I really hated how she would go along with how she was being treated.
Cindy Simpson I agree and I liked how it feels quite accurate how the writers made that part of her character as I feel it’s not uncommon when a girl has not had a lot of interest from and contact with her dad, that there is some fascination with stand offish guys.. At least, that’s what I thought they meant.
I always loved Jess from the start... I don't know why some people's thinks that he is abusive or toxic or something like that... He doesn't wanted to go for some places with her because he was obviously an antisocial person, Rory knew it from the start, and at that time, she was the only person he actually wanted to be with and have a time (in his way)..Rory wanted him to be like Dean, but he wasn't. And when he hide things from her, it was only because he was embarrassed or something like that... He never was possessive, jealous, insecure, nothing like that, with her ... He didn't have any Abusive signs for me. For me, the only mistake that he committed, it was when him didn't stop kissing her right after she asks for it, but it was obvious that he was sorry about that later... His only negative point in the start it was his communication issues and problems about letting himself beeing vulnerable sometimes, show his emotions... And obviously, he grows up a lot during the seasons, it was a big journey for him I guess, but it was worth it, he discovered the big heart and the big man that he always had inside him, without loosing his personality. I am kind of proud of him, In the deep i always knew...
I just think they just started dating at a bad time. Rory was still trying to find herself and who she wanted in her life. also with everything that happened with jess's life he was obviously in a hard place. I think it definitely would've worked out if they had started dating a little later when they both started discovering who they really were :) when they became true adults who were in control of their lives and had control of themselves, they definitely would've made a great and positive couple in my opinion
I'm still Team Jess! He always challenges her to do better & not give up, he understands her & they both share the same passion for writing. If they do a season 2 of the revival, I hope he ends up with her. 🙏🏻😍
Jess & Rory were the perfect match. He was the only person outside of her mother who really knew her. Just a few words from him & she went back to Yale. He knew her. He was perfect.
They will always end up together in my head, because I’m done waiting, the revival didn’t do justice for them at all. I like Logan though but I’m Team Jess all the way!
Jess had one of the best character developments. He was the only one who actually grew up. dean and Logan stayed the same the whole time, and were more of a mess then Jess tbh. Yeah Jess was a mess but you gotta remember he had a rough pass. Coocooco mom and a absent dad. Dean was a jealous, obviously had some anger issues. Logan seemed like he didn’t care about anyone but himself, drank his problems away. But Jess yes he ran away when someone big came into his life, but I think he learned that from his dad. His dad literally left right when Jess was a womb. His dad was scared. but Jess he never felt loved before. Or even heard of it. I think what changed Jess was when Rory graduated and he called but didn’t say anything and she told him “I think I loved you”. And that just turned his brain on, because he was like oh shi she loved me, wtf am I doing. Jess was always meant for Rory. I hate when people say “Jess was a jerk and was awful”. I don’t think they realize his passed situation and how much that can affect someone mentally. Jess was not in the right headspace, and Rory put him into that right mindset. He needed Rory to change. And Rory needed Jess to change. Logan didn’t help Rory change, he actually destroyed her mental state. Him and his family didn’t want her going to Yale, yet that was her dream. And cudos to Jess for still supporting her when she didn’t want to go to Harvard. Did Logan support her going to Yale? Absolutely not. I think if she still went to Harvard and actually gave Jess the time. They would have worked. Rory wanted to move too fast for Jess. And obviously Jess didn’t know cause he never experienced true love. I think if Rory learned how to trust Jess with his mental issues at first everything would have worked out. Rory was a little to hard on Jess. She just needed to learn how to give Jess space and time. Sorry for the long paragraph but I could go on and on and on 😂
I sincerely think that when it comes to Rory and Jess, it was all about the timing. Dean and Logan were in the right time of her life and Jess wasn’t. Just imagine that Dean didn’t have that breakdown in the dance marathon. Imagine Rory and Dean remaining a couple in till she goes to Yale. In Yale she dates Logan and after she graduates (and breaking up with him) she will start dating Jess. He figured out he wanted to be an author, and with Rory a journalist they will make a perfect couple! They will travel together, write together, be together, influence one another. I don’t know if I consider as team Jess because I hated him in the first seasons when he didn’t know what to do with his life. In the later seasons, however, you can see he is much more mature and they could have been perfect together. She should have ended up with him!
Madison Letellier wait what? I thought most people liked Dean. Rory seriously messed him up. No no I’m not excusing cheating on his wife. But he treated Rory very well and got treated very poorly back.
@@breannamoore6071 well me and everyone i know doesn't like Dean look at the Jess vs. Logan video they didn't do one with Dean because nobody liked him that much i will admit that i liked Dean at the begining but after some time I have grown to hate him but that is my opinion
Breanna Moore it’s because Dean and Rory had no special connection. They had nothing in common. Dean, at some points, did treat Rory like shit. For example with the gender roles in that one episode about the Donna Reed show or when he broke up with Rory in public. Rory didn’t appreciate him, that’s obvious. She liked Jess once he got into town and Dean noticed that. Rory even snuck around with Jess multiple times even kissing at one point. I think the thought of just having a boyfriend was really exciting and new for Rory leading us to believe that she wasn’t exactly into Dean rather she liked the comfort of a boyfriend that really cared for her.
Madison Letellier Yeah and Dean was the one of the most boring characters in the show. They never did him good. He had no memorable scenes except maybe with him and Richard checking Rory’s car. He wasn’t funny or smart. He didn’t understand Rory and Lorelai’s pop culture jokes/references nor Rory’s book knowledge. His lack of smarts limited their relationship considering that was Rory’s main character trait. Dean didn’t have any sort of special character trait... maybe kindness? Though at points it doesn’t seem like that. It kinda seemed like it was mainly Rory, like his whole point in the show was Rory. The show made up for his character in the revival I guess when they show he’s over Rory and has begun a family.
@@ujungie Yeah on a BuzzFeed article people say that Dean is the worst Gilmore Girls character and frankly I agree with them because he is dull and a total jerk
When Rory got off track in school and life, Jess was the only one other than Lorelai that was brutally honest enough with Rory to call her out. He guided her to seek her potential like she did when they were younger and he was having similar issues. He was really crappy to her when they were younger, but if you take a deeper look into his rebellion, he was being tossed around from half-assed parenting and attention and thrust into Stars Hallow. Even Luke was upset at his sister and often described how flaky she was. When he got his act together, he was nothing but supportive and more contentious of how and what Rory was going through. He learned that respect from Luke and loved her enough to show restraint(which I found beyond endearing and whimsical). All her other boyfriends catered to her going into morally questionable scenarios (cheating/ adultery, ghosting, stealing, lethargy, and greed in some instances) which led her astray. She is an adult who made her own decisions but who sincerely would of been best for her in the end would have been Jess.
If two people are meant to be together, eventually they will find their way back to each other... This is what Chuck said to Blair in GG and I hope Jess and Rory will find their way back to each other, too... Because I think they're meant to be together 😔❤️
They broke up because he left her to go live in Cali with his dad so if she had stayed with him that means that she would have went with him. in which case she would have never gone to Yale. it was right for them to break up when they did. but what I wish is that they would have done their relationship better. That Jess was more honest with her and treated her the way she deserved to be treated. if he had not been so closed off and reserved while they were together then they could have had such a good relationship. they were so good together and had such good chemistry, but the fact that he was so scared to vulnerable with her messed everything up.
I love Rory and Jess as a couple, even in the beginning I felt like he was truly worried about Rory's future. It's true Jess is like Luke and Rory is like Lorelai, I still believe that they could've made the relationship last, however I still think that Rory's baby is Logan's... only because the series alludes to the fact that they both spent the night together. But the real question is, would Rory and Jess put aside their past differences, to rekindle the love that they always had for each other?
i feel like all of rory’s relationships mirrored lorelai’s (whether that was intentional, idk) but dean was safe, kind and stable. he was max. then jess was easy for rory to get along with, hated showing his feelings or opening up, always a bit moody. he was luke (which i definitely think was intentional because they were uncle and nephew obviously, and seemed to dislike each other which was ironic because they were so alike). then there was logan who was exciting, rich, witty and charming. he was 10000% christopher.
I dont get why everyone calls jess rory's luke when infact luke and lorelai made a TERRIBLE couple. They were never on the same page , like when lorelai wanted to get married and luke didnt, and when luke totally hid the fact that he had a daughter, they didnt even do wedding preperations together. Luke also made lorelai really sad like when she started crying to the therapist their relationship was extremely toxic they never did anything fun they were better as friends. And even in the revival after so many years there was no character developement. And as for Rory, the writers thought she was too perfect and tried to add realistic flaws but the character became too flawed and messed and weird and the character was ruined entirely. I really liked alexis bledel though.
shweta ganesh THANK YOU GOD IM SO HAPPY SOMEONE IS T TO DUMB TO SEE THIS. The whole time they were together I just felt awkward and stiff. There was less silly cute moments and more ewewewwwewwwee you know. They never lined up together accept for sex which also made me uncomfortable bc Luke’s disgustingly hairy chest.
I hated how they ended the revival. You can clearly tell the little Jess scene from when he looked in the window and saw her, that he was still in love with her. Jess was so upfront with her and told her how it was. In the revival, they made it seem like Rory was in her 20’s the way she was still sleeping with her ex boyfriend who was engaged and doing that life or death bergade stunt. It’s not something a 32 year old should be doing and still not knowing what to do with herself. They did the revival so bad and should have let her end with Jess. I know it was predictable but it’s better that way than just ending with pointless crap in the 4 episodes and the ending scene with her saying she is pregnant. It leaves too many questions and it’s pointless. Does Rory end up with Logan? Do they end up getting married but then leave each other? Does she end up with Jess and he helps raise the baby? Sorry for this rant😂😂
That was my one real compliant about the netflix series; Rory and Jess were not really explored even though subtextually it is heavily implied that they end up together (Rory is Lorelai and Jess is Luke). I also didn't like that Rory seemed to only be her negative character traits now and that she hadn't really grown emotionally. Though maybe that was intentional so that they would have somewhere to go with her if the show continued.
The reason this show was so iconic and stayed so long in our hearts was because of the complex dynamics. If everybody ended up happily every after, there'd be no reason for us to still be thinking about the show. It's the fact that the relationships didn't exactly end the way we wanted them to that makes us still want to still think about the show. I for one will always think that Rory and Dean were too young when they met for it to ever work out long term. There's just something about their dynamic and where they were at in life that would make it impossible for them to ever really be on the same wave length. And at the end of the day, I think they wanted different things in life, core important things that you need to be on the same page about in order to build a life together. I also believe that had she ended up with Logan, she would always feel like she was never enough for him or his family. And I also think there's a part of her that would always feel like she never really knew the real Logan, 100%. And as somebody who always favored Jess, as much as I loved him, I don't think that he and Rory should have been together either. Because the way she was written towards the end of the series made her into somebody that was nowhere near good enough for Jess. When they first met, he was not good enough for her. But once they both grew up and became the adults they were supposed to be, he had outgrown her, and she wasn't good enough for him. It's that feeling of might have been and angst and wistfulness that makes the series worth remembering. Everybody has a moment of "what might have been" in their life that makes them relate to Rory and all her relationships.
I HATED a year in the life!!! But the only good part was grown up Jess😍 He did end up growing and becoming a better person inspite of his tough upbringing. Rory though..... Sigh they did her dirty.
Unpopular opinion: Jess is the only boyfriend of Rory's who didn't push her out of her comfort zone or try and make her something she's not. He had his own ideas of a lifestyle but he never tried to get Rory to change herself because he wanted her to, unlike Dean or Logan.
I don’t think that’s necessarily a bad thing. I believe Jess was too close minded. Sometimes in life, you’ve got to try new experiences and Logan gave her that. You can’t always just play it safe and in the end, Rory learnt that the hard way..
I want a happy Rory-Jess happy ending. Never mind if it’s too Hollywood-ish - this is a TV show afterall. They deserve it, and we deserve it after all these years!
I was always team Jess from the very get got - and not just because he's definitely her cutest boyfriend by far! He's the one he was most attracted to. And he's the one who has always loved her the most. He's the one who really wants her to live up to her potential. And he's the only guy who could really push her to do so - lately even better than her mum. And THAT really is saying a lot. He and Luke will always be there for the Gilmore Girls. And Jess might even be better for Rory than Luke sometimes was for Lorelai.
I don’t think they were in the right place at the time they were together. Jess had a lot of growing up to do , and both needed to experience more of life. Jess turned into a great guy, and of the three, probably was the best man for her. In the revival, he was so much grown up and had a good head on his shoulders. That on screen chemistry was still incredibly strong between them. I think everyone had that person when they were younger, feeling like you met someone incredible at the wrong time in your life.
So what do you think would happen if Rory had stayed with Jess? Also, if you liked this video, be sure to watch Jess VS Logan: Who Is the Better Boyfriend?: th-cam.com/video/o_cLwKScMfY/w-d-xo.html
MsMojo Jess obviously
Can you do What If Rory Steady with Dean.
Team Jess!
You totally forgot about their encounter in season 7 when they kissed but rory knew she wanted to be with Logan, you totally skipped over that
Not that 42 year old Milo isnt gorgeous but I've never fallen in love with an actor as fast as I did when Jess was introduced

I need to find a way to make that my ringtone

@@luellaashforth2292 lmfao that is NOT how "being related" works. they have absolutely zero blood in common because they were born way before Luke and Lorelai got married...
I wish the revival didnt spend so much time on that stupid musical. They couldve gave Jess a better storyline.
amen! that musical section was 25 minutes long! why??? so unnecessary.
Yogi Bear how do i like this multiple times??
I was so close to skipping that part of the revival it was just so unnecessary
Jay Hollow I actually did end up skipping it🤷♀️
I loved the musical, but I agree about wishing for a better storyline for Jess
I feel like Dean represented what Lorelai wanted from Rory and Logan what Rory's grandparents wanted for her. Jess was the only one that let Rory be herself and has always put her back on track, because he knew who she was and what she wanted. I have to admit though that back in season 3 he wasn't a good boyfriend because he still needed to figure out himself, later in the series in fact we see his growth. I feel like if they hadn't broken up it would have been a toxic relationship, but now that they made their experiences they're ready to return together. Just, timing for them wasn't that good
very well said!
Ok but in the orignal jess treated rory like a piece of shit
And jess and rory are technacally related now so that is kinda
Yes well said!!
YES OMG
What if Amy Sherman Palladino would have written a good revival so we could have an actual ending? I always wonder that one.

@@luellaashforth2292 how...
She doesn´t deserve him now. She´s totally screwed.
@ANNABELLE SUTO i didn't watch the ending lol thanks

@@SammyWinchester he never said not to come back. Just to spend time with him since she was packed and dien with classes anyway
@@SammyWinchester Jess said that one time in an impulsive manner where we don't know where he was mentally, he literally looked like a mess as much as I love Jess. And after that he encouraged her to go back to Yale, so I'd say it cancels out if not more.
She never grew at all during her relationship with Logan. Jess is her Luke and he will always be her endgame!
Farrell Stillman I agree. She kind of took a step backwards in maturity. And also became a sort of snob. It took Jess to come back and basically yell at her to get her back on track. And Jess being her Luke is exactly what I think. I see Rory as Lorelai and Jess as Luke. Jess will totally turn into a surrogate father to Rory’s child.
hardylover and Logan is 100% her Chris!
Farrell Stillman totally!! They don’t need to, but it would be seriously great if they brought back the cast for one more season where it confirms this!
Cassandra Nedelisky I think she became way more selfish and stuck up during and after her Logan relationship. She was sweet before Logan.

GET IT TOGETHER!!!

You should write the next revival!

@@luellaashforth2292 No they aren't lol. The fact that their mom and uncle got married doesn't make them related.
I'll say this once:
They messed up Rory's character the moment she got to Yale, and suddenly, Jess was too good for her.

@@eeveesnowy this was four years ago, get over it xx
Absolutely, you both have a point
@@cinnymoongirl Yeah the swan thing he was just embarrased about, the flunking out of school well yeah he was embarrased about that too, he was young, and had a lot of problems, but he grew up, and learned from them, like she said they both have their flaws, but always tried to push each other to be the best versions of themselves.
exactlyyyy
@@cinnymoongirl yoooo 💯💯💯👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 absolutely agreeing with this. Jess had youth and trauma to blame for sure, but he was not accountable for his actions at all until he matured and got it together years down the road. He didn't care that he had flaws at all.
She would have dragged him down with her, which is a sentence I never thought I would say upon watching the showfor the first time
@Tara yes
Nah, Logan fought for her, just in a different way. He always came back to get her in some way or another.
He also saw who she really was better than maybe anyone else
I think he felt misled and strung along, and while I don't think Rory intended to do so at that moment...she would do it intentionally later.
let's admit it we want her with jess because he's the better man but she doesn't deserve him at all
I guess I’m part of the 1% of people who was never a fan of Jess during the original run. In the revival tho, Adult Rory doesn’t even deserve Adult Jess. I’ll acknowledge Jess was able to mature and reach his potential, but I think that maturity happened without Rory by his side.
Iam right there with you
Adult Rory was Terrible!
So agree!
She so doesn't deserve Jess with who she is now. She lost he virginity with Dean (who was married) and now was cheating with Logan! I think that her mom should have been more angry at Rory when she told her about Logan.
PS, what is with Lauren's nose job . . .
Agreed
I would have loved to see Jess and Rory together. They were so good together, especially after Season 6.

They are not really related.

Because most people want that?
I dont know, i get that some people want that but others want other things like having a successful career or something else not involving getting married or having kids
RedRoseSeptember22 but that’s why film and television are such great mediums. settling down doesn’t HAVE to be the happy ending and that’s really not what most of the series told us rory wanted.
@@No-jf2st exactly Rory had a whole blue print of what she wanted her life to be her ending wasn't planned for anybody
Kallisto Indrani Agreed!! Was so disappointed in this ending too. I wish now that I did not watch the revival and just left the original show ending in my mind.
He’s the only boyfriend she didn’t cheat on. That’s sad because she cheated more than once but shows she loves him the most.
Jess would have been the best but Rory doesn't deserve him.
Her and Jess are perfect..they would have both been great together, and I think he would’ve gotten her on a better path.
they should just hire u to write a new season bc i agree with everything u said
The person who wrote the show didn’t think the end was cliffhanger and didn’t expect people to make it about the love life. So Maybe the person who wrote the show wants to make more because that’s not the ending she was expecting.
He is going to be her Luke and Logan is going to be her Christopher. It's a full circle.
Exactly even though I don't like that she ended up like her mom I hope she gets the ending Lorelei got.
I would hope not. Jess grew up and Rory didn't. Jess deserves better.
Sick circle.
Yup
If Rory had stayed with Jess I would be able to watch more episodes of Gilmore girls (like anything after season 5) without feeling like I wanna cry... the revival was a travesty and it either should have been continued to show more or it shouldn't have happened at all...

They were MEANT to be together!! Everytime she was kind of depressed he helped her and he was the only one who didn't want her to change!!!
If Rory stayed with Jess, she'd be cheating on him too because that's what she does
I don't know he was the only one she never cheated on, the other two she cheated on with him, but she did turn out pretty bad in the revival though.
That's it
No, she seems to know she couldn't do that with Jess, which is why she is always refusing him...
Lol
Quite frankly I liked them all. I feel like they were all what she needed in the time of her life she was currently in. I liked Logan for her a lot but I don't like that he can never really stand up for her and decide for himself what he wants to do with his life. I feel like with how the revival ended, Jess would end up being more involved in Rory's life and would end up together if Logan doesn't do anything for Rory and the baby.
Same I honestly think Jess would be the Luke for her baby and Logan (if the baby is actually his) would be like Christopher.
“whyyy did you droppppp out of yaaaaale”
How can you not want to be with him
TELL ME WHY I COULD READ THAT IN HIS VOICE- I’ve watched this show too

Jess is her Luke. In comparison to luke and lorelai, they'll realise their feelings faster, get together faster, he'll raise Rory's daughter like his own and maybe even have a baby together at a later time but not too late (or at least that's how i see it - my 'happy ending')
Yes I think that Logan is Rory’s Christopher and Jess it Rory’s Luke
I think it also comes down to the main producers for the show changing during the last 2 seasons, but i still adore the show!
thank u, logan is god awful, i cant STAND him.
Based on the revival Jess is too good for Rory and deserves someone who loves him and someone who he can settle down with and have a family with
i can just imagine them looking for a house and
Rory: *gasps* we should get a library!
Jess: *Laughs* that's a definite yes.
@@Dani.Torres yes true, but I don't believe she's going to struggle forever
Denise 1101 finally the comment I was looking for
berni n Thanks lol
Denise 1101 yes and at one point, Jess grew to be a lot more mature and successful than Rory
Yes Jess is going to be the babies Luke and Logan is her Christopher.
When Jess said I love you I just melted

I totally agree with you Laura.
Team Jess all the way! From the minute he came to Stars Hallow.
They. Should've. Been. Endgame.!
When you said "library", I was like: 😍. I LOVE books. I'm imagining something like Belle's library right now. Thanks for this vision😄
Sorry for the long paragraph but I could go on and on and on 😂
Honestly Jess and Rory had such great chemistry, they would kiss, and even was salivating over it.

I think rory an Jess were the most interesting and lovely couple in the show. I shipped them the whole time and hope that they will end up together
Definitely team Jess. I hope they do another chapter of their story and show them together 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
they would've live in NY having a bookstore/coffee shop and rory being a journalist and jess promoting his book. perfect ending for them.
100% Team Jess. Always wanted them to get back together!
When he comes back and confronts her for the way she is acting is just proof of how much he grew up!!
I still can’t believe I had Milo’s arm around me. Such a beautiful man 😍
The reason this show was so iconic and stayed so long in our hearts was because of the complex dynamics.
Sigh they did her dirty.
i was always in love with logan and his relationship with rory, y'all are crazy
Unpopular opinion: Jess is the only boyfriend of Rory's who didn't push her out of her comfort zone or try and make her something she's not. He had his own ideas of a lifestyle but he never tried to get Rory to change herself because he wanted her to, unlike Dean or Logan.
I don’t think that’s necessarily a bad thing. I believe Jess was too close minded. Sometimes in life, you’ve got to try new experiences and Logan gave her that. You can’t always just play it safe and in the end, Rory learnt that the hard way..
Can we just appreciate that all 3 of her boyfriends were like supermodels?
Jess is just the perfect man for her
I don’t think they were in the right place at the time they were together.
