I discovered that the ice cube storage containers are good because they are taller and don’t let the packages fall over and certainly are stronger and the don’t cost much.
Thanks for the video, I enjoyed watching it, you are a very hard working woman, all your food was beautiful, I love to can also. Please keep the videos coming. Merry Christmas!!
Hi Megan, I just found your channel and have subscribed to it. I watch this video and was so impressed what a beautiful way to preserve all your hard work and you have a great husband for building you such a beautiful set of shelves. I wish to watch many more videos from you and learn even a little bit more. I am 58 years old and have been canning for years. But I absolutely love to learn new things. We have expanded our garden from a 12x20 to 50 by 20. It was a big jump but I had a blast even with the heat being as hot as it was here this summer we still had a great harvest. I will continue to watch your videos and learn from you. Thank you so much for sharing yourself and your way of living from year to year. You're a true blessing to many keep on doing what you do. Your hard work is greatly appreciated.
My grandparents migrated from Germany to Idaho 1880, They lived in a basement house, canned a lot, had a smoke house. My daddy taught me all of that. One of my most precious memories of him.
I enjoyed seeing what all you canned. One of the reasons I started canning more of our vegetables was to leave more room in the freezer for proteins. Love those shelves down in the cellar. They look sturdy as all getout. Thanks for sharing!
Can you do a video on what you grow in your garden every year and what varieties do best. We are not far from y’all and I am looking to do a good size garden this year
December is a hard month for me my first husband died on 12-2 and my mom died in xmas eve i just kept thinking of her as my own xmas angel it helped when i was feeling low i hope you have aa good of a xmas as you can
❤Merry Christmas to all of you. I understand it will be a hard Christmas for your family. God will be with you and give you comfort and strength. Just remember your Daddy can’t come back to you but you can go to him. You and Andy as well as those precious children have been gifts to me this year. I love you all and am super proud of you. Christmas Blessings. Give your Mama a hug for me. 🙏🏻🙏🏻❤️❤️🎄🎄
Merry Christmas! Sending prayers to you Megan and the family.. Your first Christmas without your daddy is always the hardest. I pray you remember the good times with him and he will live on in your memories. I love all your videos and hope you have a Happy New Year as well!
Looking forward to more of your videos. Not many of my friends grow food or can. It does take a time commitment, but it is so worth it in the end. I can just go shopping in my larder!
Hey Megan - was wondering if any of your family or friends have ever heard of Ham Bone Dumplings? Grandma always made them back when I was rather young in the sixties. My family slaughtered hogs when I was little. But the ham bone dumplings was the best thing I ever ate, plus her homemade lite bread. Miss her cooking so much. Grandma canned homegrown food, made her own butter, and bread. Best food ever.
I had to google it to see if it was what we call Slippery Ham Pot Pie up here in PA Dutch Country. I saw receipes that do rolled dough like we do (although we super size the pot pie squares to 3" x 3") and some that called for drop dumplings like we use in Chicken and Dumplings.
People have no idea how great it is to shop your own food. I love planning supper and going to get my jars. We eat out of the freezers before we open the jars. I do have a small freezer full of vegetables I just didn’t have time to can during harvest time. I do that everyday during January. This year our kale, cabbage and broccoli are doing great. Our coldest month is usually January and February here in Texas. Then by late March I’m planting spring garden. You did great. I love meals in jars too. Soups and chili and broth. Lots of broth. Merry Christmas to you and your family.
Looking good!!! We live in a camper so your storage looks massive comparatively lol. Collards are all I have left in fall garden and they are going to be bankrupt come Christmas! I love how you plan for a year! I hope to do the same once we have a house! Go get your deer, girl!!!!!
Grandma would be very proud of you Meagan. She canned and froze everything. Mama did also but not as much as Grandma. I hope y'all have a very Merry Christmas!
Thanks for sharing Megan. I pressure canned some ground chuck/venison this year. Works out great and if yr in a area the power goes out frequently, it's a hit for sure. I lost a lot of meat due to power outages. I do keep some meat in the freezer but trying to look ahead a bit 👍😉
If you have some garden space this year, you need to try ground cherries. 😉 My grandma made wonderful ground cherry preserves and sometimes added crushed pineapple to it. 💖
Thanks for sharing this morning Megan. Looks good around there. We do enjoy your channel so much and look forward to each and every video from you all. Stay safe and everyone have a blessed Christmas and remember the loved ones great times you all had together just as we hope to be remembered. Best wishes to everyone there. Fred and family to your family.
Dang good food storage! Try Provider green beans. Delicious fresh, frozen, pickled or canned. Agree, fresh is best. I eat fresh by the seasons and move to the stash when the cold hits. Freezing seasonal means you can turn those into canned options when its too cold to be outside.
Meagan, been watching your videos for almost a year. I’ve really enjoyed them and looking forward to what the upcoming year has in store. Hope you all have a Very Merry Christmas!🎄
I'm so glad I found ya'll. I recently had knee surgery and have been binge watch your families vlogs. Have learned a few new things on canning. I'm surprised ya'll aren't fans of beets. Wishing you and your family a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
I saw the video where yall were being interviewed and just want to say yall are very blessed. I am 64 years of age and have always wanted to live the way yall are being able to live. (FREE) off the land like we were meant to live. Unfortunately i've always had a 9 to 5 or a 12 to 12 and just hate it. Don't get me wrong God has blessed me with a loving wife and 2 super kids and 6 grandkids but feel that i have missed so much.
I was so blessed this year with free pineapples, and 2 cases of plums so I got a case of jam and plum fruits and a case of pineapple jam. 3quarts of peach pie filling and apple pie filling. I was blessed with extra apples ,I have about 2 years of veggies and fruits and same with pork, chicken,Turkey, and meatloaves, meatballs.
We just started canning this year and have put back a lot of food. Planning on doubling my garden next season. Be proud of eating home grown. It's the best.
Treasure house of delicious homegrown food!! We have seen how efficiently you preserve your food lots of work and love in each jar! All looks incredibly DELICIOUS!! Thank you for taking us on this beautiful tour of your garden/orchard farm animal canned food , astounding!!
I make not-apple apple pie, its made with zuchinni, and zuchinni pineapple. I made pear butter with our fruit. I had quite a good blackberry harvest got lots jelly and freeze dried some. There is nothing wrong with some fun convenience food. I know all the healthy homeraised meat and produce without chemicals outweighs what we do buy from the store. Nice larder.😊❤
Great job! Don’t ever think you need to be a “purist”! You enjoy your family, friends, and the gifts of a happy life too much to be shooting for perfection.

Thank you for this video Megan. My husband had just said yesterday he wanted to see ya’ll kill hogs. We both have fond memories of killing hogs in our younger days. I will be honest it brought tears to my eyes watching this video. It was just so moving to see the old time ways I grew up with. We really enjoy your channel. Keep the videos coming!
Currently watching your video on your canned goods, I would give anything to have some good homemade vig preserves, my gandmama used to make fig preserves she had a fig tree that was about 25 to 30ft tall, her chickens would roost in the tree and it was well fertilized with chicken manure. Everywhere i try and get fig preserves over power the figs with way to much sugar and you can't hardly taste the figs. You and Andy are amazing keep it up.
Excellent. You are so wise for such a young woman. We had to learn from childhood up. Do you have a generator for your freezers in case the electricity is out?
Great display of canned foods , you have a great system, always working hard , congratulations on making it happen, stay safe , carry on & have fun . memories.
I don't know how you get your applesauce to stay so white I've added lemon juice before and it still turns out brown and for some reason I didn't like brown applesauce I don't know if it's just the color of it or what but I'll go by applesauce from the store instead of eaten my own canned apple sauce I don't know if it's just a mind thing or what And I love applesauce on pork cook up a nice pork roast have some nice white applesauce so yummy
What a bounty of goodness! Merry Christmas to you and the family, Meagan. May the peace that passes all understanding be with you through the days ahead. ❤❤
I love my canned meats! I love listening to you Megan I’m 78 and my maternal side of family was from Franklin Tennessee and you sound like they did! My momma is gone but you remind me of her.
You obviously have way too much Lard. You need to send that to me! I love lard and wish I could get a hold of homemade Lard! You did a GREAT Job and Thank you for the tour! You and yours have a VERY Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!!
What a beautiful grocery store. Fine example of hard work pays off. Love your pest control 😊. Will be praying for each of you during Christmas. Talk about your memories, especially the funny ones. I hope ya'll have a blessed Christmas! ➕
Thanks, Meagan. I really enjoyed this video. Especially when you explained how some of the canned foods tend to get mushy or lose flavor. I'm 66 and about to do my first pressure canning ever. I'm so nervous but I have to learn how to preserve my food. You and your family are in my prayers. My husband of 33 years passed away during the Christmas season of 2010. It's never felt the same 😢 Happy Holidays to you and your family 🎄⛄️🎄
Your storage looks a lot like mine here in Nova Scotia, I just put up a pantry tour video a couple days ago. My shelves are made from old stud 2x4s and used laminate flooring.
Reminds me a lot of the canned stuff my Momma done when we lived long enough at 1 place to have a good garden and we picked a lot of wild berry's and one of my favorite is Muscatine hull preserves the jelly is good too Dewberry jelly is my favorite by far but now where I live you can't find the berry's anymore and homemade vegetable soup is the best soup ever made to me yall have a great Christmas and New year
I so enjoy watching your channel. If you brine canned the squash you will be in for a surprise at the fresh taste. I rinse mine off well, soak in buttermilk before dipping in flour. I do okra the same way. Blessings to you and your family this season
Love your videos, you are very well organized. Your Mom would be proud. As we are of you. Merry Christmas and a healthy, happy, New Year Blessings to all and remember, Love yourself First. Everything else will fall in place.😄♥️🧓🏼🙏🏼
Great video Meghan! You’ll be in my prayers this Christmas as well as your mom and Family. I don’t think I could have held it together when you mentioned it, my mom’s been gone for 9 years, and I still cry thinking of her. And I’m a tough one! But loss of a parent is difficult. God Bless Christmas Blessings from TN❤

For yah all that don’t know what a basement house is, it’s basically a house underground that insulates the heat and the sun, covered in dirt.

Love watching your videos. I'm a collards girl, too. ❤
Collards are my favorite greens too, but i wont pass on any mess of greens and good pan of cornbread!!
Thank you for sharing! Figuring out sturdy storage is my biggest challenge right now. Here in eastern NC, we don’t have basements or cellars.
People have no idea how great it is to shop your own food. I love planning supper and going to get my jars. We eat out of the freezers before we open the jars. I often wondered what all you had in your "grocery store'. Great tour. Thank you
I just want to say thank you and your Husband for the videos, I have learned so much!!!! YAHUAH bless you and your family. ❤😊
You wont regret canning frying squash its excellent.
If you have some garden space this year, you need to try ground cherries. 😉 My grandma made wonderful ground cherry preserves and sometimes added crushed pineapple to it. 💖

Do you have the recipe for tomatoes soup? We would love to see you make it.
Yes, canned sausage does make the very best gravy. I
occasionally use it for spaghetti and pizza. I love your cellar!
You can make pear butter
Currently watching your video on your canned goods, I would give anything to have some good homemade vig preserves, my gandmama used to make fig preserves she had a fig tree that was about 25 to 30ft tall, her chickens would roost in the tree and it was well fertilized with chicken manure. Everywhere i try and get fig preserves over power the figs with way to much sugar and you can't hardly taste the figs. You and Andy are amazing keep it up.
Merry Christmas to y'all! 👩🏼🌾❤️
I would love to see a video on making and canning your sweet pickles .
Collard greens are always better after the first Frost

O.k this is different!! but I would still watch it, your channel is so great....
Try canning (water bath) cling peaches whole, skin and seeds included. As long as you don't put pesticides on them, they are very good.
Love it! I can too.
You could build a high tunnel out by your garden which would extend your growing season
Blessings and Merry Christmas.
Love watching the channel Magen!
