Wonderful way to live...Many people who are tired of the city are looking to find what you all have...You're Blessed to have the land and young enough to appreciate it...We're too old but would love it if we could...May you always be so Blessed and be thankful of it and the one who gives...

No wrong way with feeding and moving chickens! Different ways to accomplish the same thing! Know people that feed directly on the ground, more organic matter. Some will move chickens and not feed them for an hour, forcing them to eat grass first. And of course twice a day! Zero wrong way to do it as long as the chickens move! Great video! Nice editing Meagan!

My dad was a cook in the army in the middle east in WW2. This is how he has taught us all to make gravy. We do not traditionally use milk in our gravy, here in NZ, but he would thin his gravy with water from our vegetables. I eat occasionally at a cousin's house and he always mentions dad's gravy. Dad died in 1988.

My Father was a Cook in WW1 in the Officer's Mess in France. He was a "Dough" Boy in the Army.
He taught our Mother to cook, and she taught us to cook. Make our gravy almost the same way. I've never tried biscuits like that before, you can bet that I will now! My Father died in 1952, and I was 10 months old. I never knew him. I had five older Brothers and two older Sisters. We are down to 3. My 3rd oldest Brother, my oldest Sister, and me, the "Baby"! That is how she introduced me right up until she died in 1986. I'm soon to be 73 years young. This is my first time watching their channel and I like it. Brought back some great memories!😊 GOD bless

Ummmm, save me a piece of that tenderloin and gravy and biscuits!!! That's exactly the kind of cooking I was raised on, and how I cook at 70 yrs old!!! Hudson Cream is the only flour I use. Can't beat it cause it makes the softest, fluffiest biscuits!!!!!! That Jacob built you a perfect milking stool!! Way to go Jacob👍. I can't get over how all the "berry hill" has greened up and grown since last video. Delicious berries coming on! That bottom garden plot is beautiful. Good rich soil! I love little pigs. Those red ones are my favorite...well they're all cute as can be with their little curly tails!😊 The surprise baby chicks sure are sweet! Can't wait to see how many she's got. Definitely two's in there!🐣 See y'all next time👋

When I was little I took an old army cot and drug it underneath the scupper nog vines. I’d lay there for hours just reaching up and eating till my belly hurt ! Mama would come out the house calling me and I’d get real quiet and still. She sure couldn’t see underneath all them vines.
It all went south real quick when daddy busted me and he put that peach limb on my backside!! Wonder memories y’all country living brings back. Love it !!!!! Thanks

This probably sounds crazy to most folks but I was raised on a farm, cows, pigs, chickens up until I was 6 years old and we moved where Daddy bought a motel business, I am 67 years old now and still could cry over moving but when I drive through the country and there is pigs or cows, I LOVE that smell, so many awesome memories of the short time on the farm.....I loved the big ol barn, also we would play in the corn crib and cows would come through so we threw corn at them to get em to leave and of course they never, LOL

I love that you said "that's just how we eat". Growing up our menu was not terribly varied & it didn't need to be. Mom cooked what she & dad grew up on & we loved it. It wasn't fancy but it was delicious & we never turned our nose up at it for the most part. For those of us (mom & I) who could not stomach liver, tripe, heart, etc. mom did make us something we liked while dad & my brother ate the other.

Love your show! The gravy you made looked great - I make mine the same way. We call it cream gravy. You only made one mistake. You didn't make any mashed potatoes to go with the gravy!! Here in Texas we ALWAYS make mashed potatoes and biscuits with cream gravy. Unless of course it's breakfast and then we just make gravy for the biscuits. But, you do what you think you gotta do. Lol lol. Good luck with your homestead and your show. Keep up the good work and stay healthy.

I also put enough butter in the skillet & roll the biscuits to cover in butter before baking. Doesn't need to be brushed with butter after baking. Yum. Now I want biscuits & gravy. ❤😊

What exactly do you think the electric fence does? No need to feel sorry for the animals, I’ve been shocked by the fence probably more times than the animals have 😂

Hey Andy. Glad to see your crimson clover worked for you and you got the bio mass you wanted. I knew you would and the free nitrogen you’ll get can’t be beat. 👍🏽

For folks out there just learning to make gravy, try using water instead of milk until you learn to get it mixed right and at the right temperature.
Using a fork beats using a spoon for getting the lumps out of the flour and mixed up good.
You've gotta turn the heat down or it'll burn the flour and curdle when you add the milk.
You've gotta add just a little bit of liquid at the first, cause if you add it all at once you'll never get it right.
Milk costs too much to waste it.
Obviously using milk makes a creamier gravy, but it's entirely edible if you just use water, and I have on many occasions.

I just wanted to toss out a suggestion for you to try later in the summer when your corn comes in. Several years ago an older lady in the neighborhood told me I was working way too hard to keep corn in the freezer. She said all I needed to do was to pick it and leave the shucks and silks just like they are. Lay the ears in large brown paper bags, roll the top down and put a clothespin on it to hold the rolled part, and place in the freezer just as they are. Sure, you may freeze a worm once in a while, but he will freeze too and won't eat anything. Just cut him out when you find one. Corn frozen this way is the only way we do it now. It tastes like you just picked it. The shucks and silks just slide right off. Just thought I would pass this along. Give it a try, I think you will be pleasantly surprised. Hope ya'll have a great week and God bless.

I finally found some white lilly flour last week (kroger of all places, we are in the north where it's hard to come by) and an old video of yours was among the research stream of biscuit making I watched. Thanks.

I just started watching about a week ago, love how you cover all of the farm. I’m trying to go back to the basics where we live as much as possible from the land. Hoping in the future to raise some chickens for eggs and meat.
