I'm almost 67 and am still working and on my job's insurance. I have signed up for Medicare plan A at 65! I'm planing to retire at 70. Should I stop my Medicare part A and wait till I'm 70? Thanks for this awesome program. Just founded your channel. ❤
Your A is free. It is B. If you keep your health insurance and it is qualified such as more than 20 employees, etc., don't sign up for Part B until you either retire or lose your healthcare benefits. You have a limited time after, to sign up for Part B. There, you will need to determine if you want a Medigap plan to cover the 20% copay and deductible.

Is it wrong to sign up for Medicare A Only.....even though I'm working full-time and have employer's insurance? Obviously...I won't need A or B at this time...but will it help to knock that off of my list for the future? I would like to work at least until full retirement age, and then possibly part-time after that.....
I have a disabled child and she is now 39. Can she claim survivor benefits even if I am still alive? I do not have a husband. How will that affect my benefits and her SSI she gets monthly?
Hi Dr. Ed Thank you for your posts they’re informative and are spoken in layman’s terms in which I truly appreciate! My question is my spouse turned 65 last year and works full time. And because he has less than 20 employees I knew he needed to apply for Medicare B, for that reason so he did, he still has his insurance through work, and now we have both insurances and his work insurance is the one picking up his claims. I understand one or the other will pick it up then send remainder of balance to the other, why though didn’t this employee count of 20 or less apply here. Which is a confusing issue in itself

My husband retired from teaching before 65. He continued to keep his health insurance from school. When he reached 65 he applied for Medicare. They charged him the penalty because he was not still working. We never understood that because he kept his same insurance.
As long as you have creditable coverage SS is not supposed to penalized you. You must show them the creditable coverage. I would appeal to get that money back.
i lived out of state, i have local health insurance ,can i cancel my medicare and save the $175 monthly deduction on my SSA benefits? and how do i file properly the application
Hi, I turned 65 in July 2024 but started collecting SS at 64 in Aug 2023. However, finances turned out to be very tight and had a very good job offer in Mar 2024 working part time, but I’m about $3500 a month over the allowed monthly income for 2024. I understand I have to give back $1 for every $2 I went over, so how does this work, does SS just stops my monthly checks until this is paid off? Or just a portion of until paid or? I’m going to have the same issue for 2025.

Hi hope you get this message and respond. So I turned 66 this past October 2024. I did not file for Medicare I have online assist appointment on 1/12/2024 to file and I've been told I'll k be penalized. I have a disabled son living with me. Could you please advise: (1) the mistakes I've made (2) mistakes (3) what to expect (4) anything else that I absolutely need to know or expect. I appreciate your response in advance. Thank you
I'm 66, my ex is almost 60. I didn't know and couldn't get consistent answers from SSA regarding if I have to wait until he is 62 to draw. I just found out that I could have been drawing on my own SS until he hits 62. I have a phone appointment on Tuesday to begin signing up. Will it be possible to get my own back payments from when I turned 62?

Should I have coverage by January... I'm still working at this time..

I am subscribed to your TH-cam channel, but I always seem to miss the live videos although I always watch them later. Thanks for what you are doing. I have a question. I’m 65 1/2 years old but trying to wait till my full retirement age of 67 to collect my social security. I am divorced. My ex already collects SS. I was married for 30 years. I have a question. If I choose to take my own Social Security benefit, since it won’t be any higher amount to take spousal benefit, can I still get survivor benefit if my ex-husband were to pass away in few years, Because then, it would be higher amount. Or is it once I pick my own benefit Im locked in?
I thought I understood Ed to say that you had to start your own Social Security before you can collect spousal Social Security. Plus my ex-husband does not receive more than half of mine so at my full retirement age I have to collect my own correct? So my question is at full retirement age if I’m collecting mine and my ex-husband dies can I then go to survivor benefit collecting on his?

Since Medicare consultants only get paid commissions by Medicare advantage companies (?) and not if one signs up for regular Medicare, I wonder how unbiased the consultants will be since they’re working on commissions.

Part C is a Medicare Advantage program that includes a drug plan. It isn't original medicare.
If you are in original Medicare, then you should get a plan D drug plan. You can get inexpensive plans that cover you. If you don't get a plan, then you can be penalized for not having one.
You must get D for sure or you will pay a penalty!

Hi hope you get this message and respond. So I turned 66 this past October 2024. I did not file for Medicare I have online assist appointment on 1/12/2024 to file and I've been told I'll k be penalized. I have a disabled son living with me. Could you please advise:
(1) the mistakes I've made
(2) mistakes
(3) what to expect
(4) anything else that I absolutely need to know or expect.

I have submitted my Enrollment application for part B as well as the Employer side to SSA this November 15 but until now have not received any information from SSA if I got enrolled. I am transitioning from under Company health insurance coverage to Medicare coverage for 2025 January.. I have Part A when I reached my full retirement age.., just waiting for Part B. Should I have coverage by January... I'm still working at this time..
Question, since there is no longer mandatory health insurance policy, you don’t get penalty for not having health insurance, why does IRS has to attack elders for not having Medicare plans because they don’t need that ports?
I am on ssdi and 62 years old . Can I found my exhusban benifit at 62?

I know that he wasn’t making double the money but he did make more than I make. Right now my current husband is only 61 years oldand would I be able to claim his Social Security since he makes three times more than income than I do?

I have a question. I’m 65 1/2 years old but trying to wait till my full retirement age of 67 to collect my social security. I am divorced. My ex already collects SS. I was married for 30 years. I have a question.
If I choose to take my own Social Security benefit, since it won’t be any higher amount to take spousal benefit, can I still get survivor benefit if my ex-husband were to pass away in few years, Because then, it would be higher amount.
Or is it once I pick my own benefit Im locked in?
I think you can take the spousal right now and let yours grow until your 70. Ask around.

My husband just retired at age 66 and 8 months. He is self employed. Can he still making high income from his company without affecting his retirement?
