You're helping me pull the trigger on purging even new clothes I've been "saving". Not my style anymore, and most don't even fit. The mental clarity I'll get is well-worth the monetary loss. Just.. i need to keep it minimal Thanks!
Over the years, I have given away some pretty crazy nice clothes and shoes. I even gave away a pair of Church's brogues at one point. I also gave away probably 10 expensive suits and another 10 sports coats that didn't fit anymore. I give them to a local charity shop and get a tax receipt at the end of the year. Once you finish the job, you ask yourself why you had so many clothes. I realized that my looks have become more and more understated and classic. I'll bet that I will have those clothes long into the future. Glad someone else is going through the same process.
Greta video as usual. Looking at some of your wrinkled boots and shoes, do you use shoe trees. It’s a great idea when you buy a high quality shoe to buy cedar shoe trees at the same time… Regards Anthony
I like having tons of clothes from my favorite manufacturers, especially nice coats and boots. If you buy quality it lasts forever and you can slowly build your collection so it doesn’t break the bank. Lastly, a lot of people limit their careers by dressing poorly in the workplace so spending a little there definitely pays you back.
Agree, our image and how we dress plays such an important factor in our careers, especially nowadays where people are just rolling out of bed and working from home!
I've grown to disdain stretchy materials in my clothing. They just don't last like straight cotton, wool, or linen, and when I'm buying a timeless style item, I want to get as much wear out of it as possible.
@@wheelsupbardown they absolutely don't last. Did you know there are 2 kinds of stretch weave? One kind is a spandex mesh with the cotton fibers wrapped around the spandex fibers, and the other is spandex/cotton mixed yarn
@rogerr.8507 really, it doesn't matter to me as the spandex will break down from heat and over time. I'll just buy jeans, shirts, etc that fit and wear them til they're comfortable like we all used to.
One consideration I've found is that wearing the lesser used items keeps my best wardrobe lasting longer, but it also depends on each piece. My rule is if you haven't worn it the past year more than 2-3 times through all the seasons then definitely get rid of it.
@@rogerr.8507 I like to take care of my things. I don't consider that fastidious. Especially because good lady OCBDs are hard to come by. I treasure my Brooks Brothers MiUSA OCBDs.
Lol, patterns can be tricky. I prefer the solid light blue ones, and this one has a very small stain on it if you look closely. Although, maybe that's what you saw when you said oilcloth.

You get it! Having less "stuff" in our lives, means it's easier to keep things clean, and the mental clarity is unmatched!

Yep, it makes sense to get rid of things we aren't using.

Thank you. Yes, I always use shoe trees.

Good to know, I'll have to see how these dress shirts wear over time.

That's a good method!
nice collection of menswear classics esp the LL Beans
Thank you! The LL beans have been super useful.
you iron your ocbd?? just put them thru the dryer bro
That wears out the fabric and isn't a good replacement for ironing. It looks sloppy to a trained eye.
@Enough.Said. ocbd are super durable though 🤷,
you are def. More fastidious than me

I used to throw them in the dryer, but they start to slowly shrink over time.
I don't know, mate.
That polo you are wearing looks like oilcloth for the table 😐

If you’re not already on Poshmark, list your stuff there.
Will try that, thank you.
