@ the would be my top down camera. It is on its last leg. And it is a cannon which has more saturated colors. Working on a replacement aftet the holidays. Figuring out my best down set up in my newer space.
Great review, bro! I've been using TAD ripstop pants for work for about 7 years now and just got rid of them because I dropped weight and they're now about 3 sizes too big! My father in law wears them now and loves them work work also. Absolutely BOMB proof! My phantom Watchtower arrived last week and, as expected is perfect and also bombproof. All TAD's stuff is top notch and good to go for whatever the adventure! Enjoy!
@@Oomph6006 I might sell like 20 jackets next year and get an IH n1 as well. If do let some loose…. This will not be one of them. This coat is great… but I now keep seeing more and more content on the Ih deck jacket. Makes my jacket addicted heart want one.
I love my watchtower in phantom and I'm glad you like yours as well. The sleeves themselves protect the elastic core very well and I have had no issues with durability during some very long days and I have even worn this while welding and still have experienced no issues.
I knew this was built to a high standard, but welding is hard on clothing. And if this can handle that, it can certainly handle normal wear and tear of the average joe with no issues.
@jeffgrantMEDIA Oh absolutely, we are in New England right now for the holidays with about 4 feet of snow currently and I'm toasty warm sitting on the porch smoking a cigar right now. I'm actually thinking about picking another one up for my brother in law who is out working on planes in this weather, figured he would appreciate it the way I appreciate mine. You have an affiliate link so I can get you a cut of the sale? Edit* Found it 😆
haha... if you found that link in the description you got my affiliate link. I did have a comment on my community post that said last years colors all had a wool sherling liner. This year only the black has wool, the phantom and Chimera both have synthetic. Though mine is really warm. I had it on walking the dog this morning at 0 with. hoodie and I was acctully getting hot at the end of the walk.
I do not have a direct contact with TAD, but. I would suspect it to be supply chain. I am going to reach out and attempt to get some clarity. My guy on the inside is on vacation for the holidays this week. So I need to wait to get some info.
I have an N-1 from another maker and replaced the standard buttons with slotted (also called Canadian style) ones. Love ‘em, so much more durable and useful as they have that slight amount of give that makes doing them up way easier.
Nice Jacket Jeff ! Another great video review👍🏼.. I just purchased the Black Watch Tower looking forward to receiving it and putting it to use . I have an Iron heart N1 deck in Khaki have had it a couple of years .. I couldn’t resist and bought the TAD version ..
@@yankeesfanforlife506 I certainly don’t need it, but I certainly need to check out an IH Deck jacket! Haha. You made a good choice with the black watchtower. As warm and comfortable at the Chimera is, I wish it had a wool blend liner.
I've been wearing it for about a week now, and yes I think the medium will fit me well. This size large has some room in it. With the large, I have room to layer a sweater or a hoodie comfortably. If I went with a medium, it would still fit well, but I don't think I would be able to wear heavier layers. Heavier layers are not really needed to stay warm in this jacket, as it is pretty warm alone. But on a day like today when it was 0 out this morning.... a hoodie under this coat and I was all I needed to stay warm and comfortable. Actually I was getting a little too warm. Also, I am not only wearing this to walk around outdoors. I wear this to work, or like yesterday to go play music with my friends, I will want to have a sweaters and hoodies on for when I get to where I am going. And the large gives me the room to do that. If you want to see a size medium on someone with similar measurements check out Rocky Mountain Style. He just dropped his review of the same jacket in the medium..... But make sure you use my link if you buy one..... hahaha (shameless self promotion) th-cam.com/video/BylNqsUpn7M/w-d-xo.html
Thanks for the review. At 6'1" and 210 pds, I'm usually a large, but it sounds like an XL might work in this case. I wonder if their clothes generally run slim, like Iron & Resin's stuff.

Would love a deck coat but given New Jersey winters have only gotten milder, truth be told, there would be very few days this kind of coat would make sense to wear. If you live in a consistently cold climate then, and only then, does a coat like this make any sense. Otherwise it will sit in a closet. I bought an excellent Schlott pea coat 3 years ago and have worn it maybe 3 times.
I live in North East PA, so I am in a very similar if not slightly warmer climate than you. Depending in where in Jersey you live. If you live close to the water it is colder there. And while yes, winters are MUCH milder now than they were 20-30 years ago it is still plenty cold here. It was a high of 18 yesterday and 0 this morning, currently 14 now. While last week was warmer, the weeks prior and the weeks coming will be in the low to mid 20's which is a temp range a heavier warmer jacket is needed. Prior to this N-1 my coats for the temp range was an actual Navy Pea Coat or a heated jacket. Even a TNF Tri-Climate isn't great for these temps.
@ I’m in central NJ not near the ocean. yes it’s cold here now (9 this morning) as well but it won’t last long and a lighter coat with layers is fine for the odd really cold days. This is why last year I bought the Iron Resin Scout jacket as I can layer underneath as needed and use the pea coat for the coldest of days. Between now and 1/6 we’ll be back in the upper 30’s to low 50’s. This has become the norm. But I actually find the absolute warmest kit to be an Arcteryx shell with fleece or other layers as needed underneath. Bulletproof and super warm. Even more so than my thick pea coat.
What color would you get?
