- The A-10 Thunderbolt II is a single-seat, twin turbofan engine, straight wing jet aircraft developed by Fairchild-Republic for the United States Air Force (USAF). The A-10 was designed for close air support (CAS) of friendly ground troops, attacking armored vehicles and tanks, and providing quick-action support against enemy ground forces.

BRRRRRRRRRTTTTTTTT
If you hear the gun, you weren't the target
Exactly that shit will kill u before u can let ur heart beat
The recoil from the cannon is so fierce they have to fire it in short one or two second bursts. If they were to fire it in a longer continuous mode the built up force from the kickback is so powerful it could overcome the thrust from the jet's engines slowing the plane's forward motion enough to cause it to stall depending on what’s happening with the aircraft when they fire the cannon. Stall speed is 120 knots (138 mph, or 222 km/h) at 30,000 lbs (13,600 kg).
Dude!!! I did not know that!!! Damn!!! The gun is THAT POWERFUL??? WOW!!!

@kupis1408 If you consider the fourth largest army in the world (circa 1990-91)... deploying Russian hardware as "insurgents..." then ya, okay. That proved the plane could carry out the mission it was designed for... killing tanks, APCs, vehicles, artillery pits, personnel... hell, an A-10 sawed in half an airborne MIL MI-24 Hind. --- Is an A-10 slow... yes. Is it vulnerable without air superiority... yes. Was it designed to fight without a CAP umbrella... no.
Back to insurgents... there will always be insurgents to deal with. Though it was not designed for this... killing insurgents and keeping their heads down... the A-10 excels at this. And no other plane strikes fear in the enemy like the Thunderbolt II. And it does it at a fraction of the cost of a JSF, Super Hornet or F22.

As a Pilot of an A-10 , I would suppose the Pilot has to have a killer instinct. They are in the fight so close they see the absolute destruction, of the enemy up close and personal. War is no video game. I’m lucky I was never there and I honor those that where. Thank You.
I think I would be good at flying one of these after driving modified dirt cars for so many years I would have to figure it out of course but I’m good in a tight spot that’s for sure. Plus I have the ability to have extreme focus. I’ve had an inner ear problem though that would probably affect me. These are awesome!
I worked as an engine specialist on the A10 in my younger days. Every time the gun was used we'd have to do engine washes to remove gun powder from the inlet & compressor. Because the nose is so long the pilots couldn't see the target in level flight. They would come in inverted to get visual, then right the plane & take the shot. This starved the engine bearing of oil if they stayed inverted to long. They went back & installed an external pump to correct that.
Are you aware that the A-10 violates the genoeva Convention and other war crimes at least five times? (It has come to my attention that I am, in fact, an idiot)

Always a pleasure to drive that narrow road. Our family store is located in Why, Az. and we are always treated to several sonic booms from some of the other military aircraft flying high overhead.
I worked at the airport for years. It was always a pleasure watching these A10s turn so fast, so tight, I'm sure the piolets we're vigerissly trained to not pass out from the Gs of the tight high speed turns they achieve when training, and in battle
