100% would have loved a Son of Beast RMC! But I agree with you.. that structure probably wasnt up to par. Here's hoping in the future KI could get a ground up woodie with a vertical loop! RMC still hasnt done that! Nor gravity group
Here's my anecdotal story. I ran into Don Helbig in October 2011 and brought up Son of Beast during our chat. New Texas Giant was a hit and I asked if KI was looking into manufacturers to overhaul SoB. He said all the options they looked at up to that point were too expensive and would be the same cost as a large scale coaster. I believe they already invested 30 million into SoB at that point. Don said the structure needed a lot of work and they saw the flaws during construction. He said they were still looking at other options and KI really wanted to get SoB running again if the price was right. SoB met its demise the following year. Unfortunately RMC wasn't in the picture due to cost and KI went with Banshee instead. It's too bad because RMC could have turned SoB into a crazy ride.
These coasters would've been EPIC as RMC coasters, but especially Thunder Road, Rolling Thunder, and Cheetah. Thunder Road also had an appearance in a 1970s Hardee's commercial advertising them giving free tickets to Carowinds [WARNING: SONG WILL GET STUCK IN YOUR HEAD IF YOU WATCH THE AD]. Rolling Thunder would've made a great RMC, but Six Flags just had to go with the drop towers on a ride that was already thrilling. What even is the point of having drop towers on a ROLLER COASTER? Though disrespecting their coaster history isn't the only frustrating things Six Flags does, the most frustating thing they do IMO, is dropping the unique characters they had pre-Looney Tunes. I understand Six Flags Over Georgia having to lose their characters [for obvious reasons 🥶], but I wish that Astroworld and Great Adventure could've kept theirs, they were so cool and unique.
I spoke with an employee at Kings Island on why they never gave Son of Beast the RMC treatment, and she told me it was because of bad publicity. Basically, they were too afraid to operate that ride again because of how bad of a reputation it got with the media and the park guests. That's unfortunate because that would've been the perfect candidate for an RMC redo, and I think we could easily say the same thing about any ride from the Roller Coaster Corporation of America for that matter.
SON OF BEAST! YES! That would have been amazing. And of course it must have the iconic loop. Not having it would be like having a statue of the flag raising in Iwo Jima and not including the flag.
Regarding Sierra Tonante at Mirabilandia, I think the structure needed some work anyways, but it would have been awesome to see RMC step in and do its magic. Mirabilandia is long overdue for a new thrill coaster, ISpeed being the last one, dating back to 2009. I'd love to see an Intamin Hyper, but a Ground Up RMC Hybrid (that may also pay tribute to Sierra Tonante) would also be a dream. Even better if it's a Hyper Hybrid like Zadra... It would make an amazing trio with ISpeed and Katun, and give Italy the élite coaster it desperately needs...
I think it's been confirmed that Cedar Fair had considered letting RMC work on Son of Beast, but the ride's structural issues and the negative publicity after the 2009 incident was just too much.
Man just think of the lineup Carowinds would have if they rmc’d thunder road in a similar vain to twisted collasus along with what they already have. That would be an elite line up
Was this the checklist? It was used in his videos for "coasters these parks need", with "Family" being ignored for Six Flags and Cedar Fair. * Standout * Airtime * Multilooper * Wooden * Not on Track * Launch * Spinning * Family

I can see Wild Adventures in Georgia building an RMC from the ground up to replace Cheetah in the future. Considering the Herschend family worked with RMC for Outlaw Run and Lightening Rod, I can see them doing this again. However, I would expect an for the park to go with an RMC family coaster model given that the park seems to target a family-oriented audience.
I really thought cheetah was going to get RMCed when it closed, mainly because hercshend already had two (now 3) RMCs and it seems like the park really need it. However I guess They didn’t see that was worth it, hope they do end up putting something there to replace it
A RMC Son of Beast would be legendary. Ceder fairs would have no regrets, probably one of the smartest things they could do right now , just imagine the turnout from all over the world opening something like that 👏 we can only pray and wait that KI has a surprise waiting for us in the near future 😅
Jackrabbit at Clementon beat you up and took your lunch money, but man...was that a piece of my childhood. As was Hercules, which was my first coaster. My dad put up with the pain every time just to make me happy. I miss him and think of him every time I ride Hydra with my sons.
I live 15 mins from. SFGA. If they could have saved rolling thunder with the RMC treatment it would be one of the best lineups out there. I loved that old coaster(s) it was such a shame to see it go
There's talk that Wildebeast at Canada's Wonderland may be getting Gci refurbishment. All of these old wooden looked like a lot of fun. Too bad they are gone. An RMC Son of Beast would have been pretty wild. Be good for the park. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
For son of beast at ki, rmc and the park DID have talks to convert sob because in coaster studios rmc documentary there’s a part where Fred grub talks about it
Hercules would have made the best RMC IMO. Also surprised you didn't mention Magnus Colossus at Terra Mittica in Spain, which has a gorgeous setting and would also make a world-class RMC.
I was fortunate enough to have ridden the Dania Beach Hurricane when I was young, growing up in South Florida. It’s a shame it was demolished, as it was the only major roller coaster until you hit Orlando. If only it were still around or RMC’d 🥲
Avalanche at Timber Falls and Cannonball Run at Waterville USA. Both largish wooden coasters at small family entertainment centers, so a cheap addition like a RMC would've been perfect for both parks. They also both closed after RMC started making coasters, so really, they would've been obvious picks.
It would be nice to have a son of beast that was done correctly. I can't tell you how excited I was when it first opened, waiting over 3 hours to go on it, just to come off with the headache I've ever had in my life. And I was still a preteen. The loop was unique because it was the first wooden coaster ever to have a loop. The best part of that ride, should have been the Helix. But by that point in time, it was so rough and it hurts so bad you just wanted to get off
Carowinds didn’t need the waterpark expansion. They should have just torn out their old rides they never operate because whenever I go and the waterpark is packed only half the slides are open, and they are closed geographically so the back half is never open. RMC thunder road or even just thunder road would be so better than the pile of Hurler we are stuck with now.
I know it’s not nice to hold grudges but Cedar fair took my first major coaster out I mean I like intimidator but still broke my heart about thunder road cause I don’t do water parks pointless
Amazing video but OMG I SWEAR I SAW U YESTERDAY AT SFGAM JUNE 26TH WHEN YOU GOT OFF OF VIPER AND WHEN U AND SOPHIE WALKED PAST X-FLIGHT AND THE FOOD COURT AROUND 6
I didn’t know that the structure of rolling thunder was not good enough for the rmc treatment. I always got so angry they get rude of that ride for a drip tower queue ! Would have been amazing to have any rmc there
So many people say Togo is scary but Togo is pretty solid in Japan from what I’ve heard, I just think us Americans got the short end of the stick with Togo
Buy or Sell: Cedar Fair is waiting for GCI with their IBox track to be perfected, to build a new SOB at Kings Island. Solidifying GCI as a direct competitor to RMC. Cedar Fair still hasn't warmed back up to RMC. But, they do love GCI.
I don't think this counts as defunct, but Magnus Colossus is a sbno rcca in spain that uses the terrain. They could make a killer rmc hybrid like Iron rattler.
Hear me out on this one. Judge Roy Scream at SFOT. From what I understand there is some sort of stipulation with the city of Arlington that the coaster can not be torn down but that could be bypassed by being retracked and reprofiled a la RMC? It could have an awesome out and back lay out similar to Arieforce One. Also, SFOT is in dire need of a new coaster, has little to no room, and wouldn't it be cool if the park with the first RMC could get a second one that's more modern and improved?
While Cheetah at wild adventures definitely was at a park that would never get something like an rmc, i do wish it lasted longer. It would have definitely gotten the titan track treatment. Cheetah has a lot of meaning to me as it was the first wooden coaster ive ever ridden, and one at my home park. It wasnt anything special or spectacular but i still miss it. It did have a nice setting too and looked really good within the parks skyline. Tl;Dr in my heart it should have been rmced, in a realistic sense it should have just stayed around and recieve the titan track treatment. I mean if michigans adventure could get titan track then cheetah certainly could have. Maybe if the pandemic didnt happen it would still be around.
Another minor note is that without the removal of Hercules Dorney Park never would have gotten Hydra the revenge since that coaster sits on the former plot of Hercules
I hope if the time comes. That raven or legend at holiday world gets rmc. I rode both those coasters when they were first built. I hear they are showing thier age.
Great list of coasters past. I know a few current ones on the Cedar Fair Roster, cough cough Hurler.....is Cedar Fair still grudging with RMC? Great Vid and BTW - Buy or Sell - In the next five years, Cedar Fair will reunite with Intamin and RMC.
I don’t know how an RMC Rolling Thunder would have worked out but it would have been better to have half of something than nothing at all. In a world where Rolling Thunder was once a coaster with no inversions in a park that was once inversion crazy, it would have been interesting to have “Iron Thunder” be one of few coasters with inversions in a park with lots of stand out coasters with no inversions.

Chris is just the BEST coaster youtuber, even Eltororyan WON'T even COMPARE to this guy CHRIS, YOUR THE BEST OF THE BEST
If son of beast would have been RMCD it would probably be the best coaster in the world
Hercules would have made the best RMC IMO.
Fun fact about pegasus: on the first ride the train got stuck at the top of the lifthill and when the ride was over it was already raining
But by that point in time, it was so rough and it hurts so bad you just wanted to get off
I rode Son of Beast many times! It would have been great if they could have done that to keep it going.
Thunder Road IS the list. 😊
Speaking of RMC...when are you getting to Hershey to ride Wildcat's Revenge? Really looking forward to that vlog.
Honestly Son of Beast was in that area it was just Cedar Fair waiting a few years so the products didnt fail
I didn’t know that the structure of rolling thunder was not good enough for the rmc treatment. I always got so angry they get rude of that ride for a drip tower queue ! Would have been amazing to have any rmc there
I kinda wanna see an RMC of Bandit at Movie Park Germany. I also wanna see an RMC with a Cobra Roll
but would they call it Grandson of Beast?
Thunder Road was my favorite coaster. I know it was nothing special but it was just that fun
So many people say Togo is scary but Togo is pretty solid in Japan from what I’ve heard, I just think us Americans got the short end of the stick with Togo
If Hades wasn’t revamped by GG. Would RMC make a change in Mt Olympus’s profile?
You should do the top 10 bunny hills moments on different roller coasters
I've been saying Hercules! Glad to hear someone else agree
Honestly joris en de draak is a really really good coaster, probably the best woodie I have done so far, beats out wickerman as well
Son of Beast was already good to me. If it’s RMCd to the level mean Streak was it would have been game over.
Then they would be missing a wooden coaster.
Airtime Thrills should've introduced it as Hurt your knees or cracked a joke about it shortly afterwards
I'm not surprised the Rolling Thunder structure was too far gone, in 2010 it murdered my knees and elbows
Heh ... now do "10 CURRENT Wooden Coasters That Should *Never* be RMCed.
Just for balance's sake.
Man I miss cheetah so much!! Huge missed opportunity to RMC it. With it gone I haven't had a reason to go back to Wild adventures
Great Vid
and BTW - Buy or Sell - In the next five years, Cedar Fair will reunite with Intamin and RMC.
4:51: the worse of both worlds if it had been built in the US
I don’t know how an RMC Rolling Thunder would have worked out but it would have been better to have half of something than nothing at all. In a world where Rolling Thunder was once a coaster with no inversions in a park that was once inversion crazy, it would have been interesting to have “Iron Thunder” be one of few coasters with inversions in a park with lots of stand out coasters with no inversions.
Great idea 💡💡💡💡
B&M should start B&Ming old and rough Vekoma slcs and making them better with new elements that aren’t on B&m inverts
LOL B&Ming
Did you already do a list for the top ten still operating coasters that should be rmc’d?
I did but its pretty old. Still, its relatively relevant minus a couple
