Were documentaries eligible? Because Paris Is Burning belongs on this list. Also, how do you feel about Close-Up? Sight & Sound list has it on #17 right now so it’s apparently the best from that year, though I haven’t really warmed up to it yet.
Paris is Burning is excellent. 👍 I am going to include some honourable mentions in future episodes, and for me, this certainly would have been mentioned in those. I must admit that I have yet to see Close-Up, and I know there is a nice looking Criterion Collection edition, so I may pick that up. Thank you 👏📽
Somewhat surprised The Hunt for Red October didn't make the list. Personally, I don't think Dances With Wolves was even the best western that year. I've always preferred Quigley Down Under.
Hi mate, 1990 is the year before I got married, I remember being a member of the Britannia VHS movie club and was sent a copy of Total Recall a few weeks before it hit the shelves of HMV 👌 I’m sure it cost me around £20 at the time 😮 Home Alone is still one of the best Christmas movies 🎅🏻 I wasn’t the biggest fan of Edward Scissor Hands at the time but it’s definitely grown on me over the years 🧐 Misery still makes me wince (just thinking about that scene 😬) Dances With Wolves is an incredible western 👍 Ghost was another brilliant movie from that year 🤔 nice one mate, take care👍😃👍
Wow, I'd totally forgotten about Britannia Movie Club!! My early Van Damme, Segal, Schwarzenegger VHS collection was obtained through them throughout the 90's! 📼 Thanks for checking out the video mate... the best of 1991 will be coming soon... have a great week! 👏📽
To make a list of the ten best American films of the year (1990), you would first have to have watched all the films released this year... which is impossible...... or that maybe you are a real cinema enthusiast.... who like to watch as many good as bad movies without having learned anything about how to select good artistic movies with the experience that avoids losing their time watching bad movies for the future (which is very frustrating).... You have to be able to pay attention and distinguish the important aesthetic points during the viewing of a film project.... In a logical sense, your list of winners is worth nothing and is based solely on personal tastes that are confused with artistic talents and not rotten film talents of the supply and demand of the public... The art of cinema is serious and unfortunately with experience we realize that there are many more bad films than good ones.
🤔 La Femme Nikita is a French film. Also this is my video so of course it’s personal, and the views within it are worth about as much as your comment. Also, top ten list can be fun…

Surprised that Heat didn’t make this list
Heat was 1995. This is the best movies of the year 1990
Somewhat surprised The Hunt for Red October didn't make the list.

Think I’ll do an honourable mentions segment on future episodes, as there’s so many great movies! 👏🎥🍿
Plus they all had great posters 👍
