    Excellent video.... I prefer to use the cork gasket which is what the trans came with.... Im sure that your rubber gasket worked equally as well....

    Thanks it had been decades since I did a filter and gasket on a TH400. When I noticed how loose that filter was I wanted to quickly check something to make sure it was supposed to be like that.

    Curious, when u checked the fluid level at the end of the vid, was the engine running? Hard to tell. Thanks! Great vid btw.

      It was after running it through the gears for about 10 mins. The engine is off when I pulled the stick.

    What did you do with the debris magnet now that you're using an aluminum pan? Would like to see a video showing how to change a gasket on a turbo 400 on a 1969 Firebird. They have a cross member that prevents access to one of the pan bolts and are a MAJOR pain in the you know what.

    • @ChrisNCars
      @ChrisNCars  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The bolt on new pan has a magnet. If someone lets me work on their firebird id do it!

    • @johnhenryholiday4964
      @johnhenryholiday4964 ปีที่แล้ว

      Your car and a P-30 chassis share that same misfortune... that cross member is a major pain....

      @@johnhenryholiday4964 Here's what worked for my 1987 Mallard Class A P30 motorhome with a TH400. After spraying the bolt and hole with break clean as a kind of lube for the bolt thread (and to facilitate better grip of the hex side), start the bolt with left index finger from the cross member side and your right index finger from the passenger side. Once you have it almost touching the pan, access the bolt from inside the cross member with a box end 12 sided wrench. There was enough room that I was able to use my Sears long 13MM wrench to tighten it. To loosen it, I used a long, U-shaped wrench from "Powercraft" or something, but I think loosening the bolt from inside the crossmember would have been MUCH easier.

    • @ChrisNCars
      @ChrisNCars  ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry not sure the plug came with the pan kit

      @@ChrisNCars that's ok I called and asked its 1/2 20 threads so the ID of gasket would be 1/2

    . . .the filter is supposed to be able to move around. It's NOT supposed to sit snug. It is designed to float in the surface of the fluid.

    • @ChrisNCars
      @ChrisNCars  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I remade this video because everyone was giving me crap for letting it float in the first rendition 🤦‍♂

    • @West_Coast_Ganbaru
      @West_Coast_Ganbaru ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @ChrisNCars its okay. I didn't mean to sound so rude, and I apologize. Your original video was correct. The filter is supposed to float freely, hence the amount of play on the singular bolt. When know-it-alls come to your comment section just hit them with facts from the manufacturer.

      @ChrisNCars  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@West_Coast_Ganbaru yeah, haha! I mean that's what I get for posting on youtube. But, it also helps me be better at working on cars and making videos!
