To the naysayers, the negative people. Trucks require repairs, maintenance. Sometimes the mechanical failures come at inconvenient times, we get through it. Dan is pickier than some others in the level of quality he puts into repairs, so over time he'll be making the truck reliable as he has done with his other trucks in the past.

The trash bag (walmart bag) for the king pin lock works great, I use to just leave the bag stuck on the grease... never wanted to touch it to dam greasy... don't know where they went but they will disappear...
and, must be a cat reman water pump, they never last, total BS..... for ten years I hauled cat reman parts out of Corinth Ms... spent a lot of time around the shops, cat buys really cheap bearing and seals when they reman there parts... rebuild it your self with good bearings and seal....

Just a suggestion instead of that weatherstripping you might want to try a bead of clear silicone around the edges of the generator door. Let it Harden before you close it. I never had any luck with that weather stripping it always fell off no time. Or you might want to try putting a thin layer of the silicone around the edge and then put the weather stripping on top of it that way you know it's going to stay on their. Anyway thanks for the videos.

Hi Dan, don't worry about the people that give you grief about not continuing to run the white truck, they don't know what the future will bring either. We all have to make the best decisions that we can with the information that we have available at the time. Fate has a way of biting us in the butt from time to time no matter what we decide. Another thing that I thought of was having the parts fail on the generator on a weekend when you were basically sitting and waiting to go to the shop on Monday is not all bad, you certainly had time to work on those small issues and better there than when they could have left you stranded.

Hey Mr. Dan. I’ve got a HUGE WARNING ⚠️ for you sir about that “Dual” bluetooth radio from Walmart. Those little pieces of junk are fire hazards. I was hauling an Oversized Load a few months ago. All the sudden outta nowhere, I started smelling smoke. It was very very thick, strong, potent smelling smoke too. I got on my CB radio to inform my pilots and the rest of my convoy that my truck was on fire. We all pulled over on the off-ramp. I had no idea at the time it was the radio. Anyway, upon inspecting, another driver who has over 30 years experience, reached up and yanked that “Dual” radio outta the hole it was in, and sure enough, that was the problem. The radio had been installed only days prior by a mechanic. If I’m not mistaken it was soldered as well.
If I had not been there at that time the whole truck could have went up in smoke. Still I don’t know what exactly caused that to happen. It was a company truck, with a company bought radio in it, installed by a company employee.
Anyhow, just a warning. You’ve got a very nice truck there sir. And it would be terrible for it to go down due to a $20 Bluetooth radio.
Safe travels out there Driver. ✌️

Gee, all that happened was a tree fell, took out our power line, and blocked the driveway. They always say, don't feel sorry for yourself, someone somewhere has it worse. And you had it worse.
Most likely the original leak is from a 'weeper hole' which is really a great idea. The water pumps main bearing keeps the water from the hole until it wears too much. Then it starts to weep. But long before the bearing gives out. (long being relative term) Much better than it seizing up and blowing the engine.

Any truck you buy will need attention. You can do everything obvious in the driveway when you get a new truck home. The initial shakedown run or two always tells what else needs to be done. You fix things, not hold them together with duck tape and zip ties like a lot of people do or flat out ignore it. Staying on top of things and also the ability to do it yourself is a major plus. And yes, some stuff does have to go to garage and takes time. Keep on roll'n, there is good money to be made now.

Hey Dan, great job, people do forget that when you purchase a used vehicle, its broken in for that drivers driving. Now you bought it and your driving it very different than the past driver. So now things are going to start to break. When the truck is finally broken in the way you drive, things will stop breaking.. And then and only then it is now, Your Truck..

Hello Dan just watched your video of your problems with the new used truck. Those little things on a used truck will happen. At least you don't have all the after-treatment garbage. That is so unreliable. At least most of the things that are happening you can take care of yourself just think if you had a newer truck with after treatment and you had to rely on a dealer you definitely be screwed. Enjoy watching your videos.

One thing I have learned in my 35 years of driving a truck, doesn’t matter whether it is new or old, something is going to break! New trucks maybe it will be covered by warranty but you are still going to have payments! Old you will have to pay parts and labor but hopefully you have your truck paid for! Some of the little things going on with yours is it seems as tho the truck may have been sitting up for awhile! Maybe even with the overhaul of the motor they may have replaced the water pump but that doesn’t mean that it won’t break. The way you take care of your equipment maybe after you get caught up with everything going on the routine maintenance will take care of you! Like you said you were constantly fixing things on the white truck doesn’t matter what color the paint if it moves it going to break!
