Thanks, for showing your method. Pro-tip; Use the product called "Awesome" found on same aisle as the expensive "Oxy-clean" cleaner. Awesome is 20X's better and only $1 a bottle. Awesome also works on cloths. Next time find your worst condition hat and tell me what you think. I usually pre-Rinse hat, use a brush, then squirt awesome on hat and work in with brush, rinse and hang outside. Thanks, for showing your method.
You can feel the difference between a cardboard bill and a plastic bill. The plastic is far more rigid and tends to be what current hats are made of. Cardboard was a thing in the 80s and 90s or earlier or really cheap hats.
Chuck Norris, the badass that is printed right on the front of the hat that I am referencing in the comment section of this video, yes. Master of martial arts and acting…. I am confused as to why you are asking me because Chuck is clearly seen on the hat in the video. ????
I wash my caps in the washing machine with my shirts with out any problems. Do not wash them with pants, especially with zippers, or they will get torn -- don't ask me how I know.
Hi Coach Commerce, i bought a Vans bucket hat that's 100% nylon with 100% polyester lining. Its says to "spot clean only" in the tag sewn to it. Im really lacking in certain life skills, how do i spot clean?
Great question! Most modern hat brims nowadays are plastic or some type of composite polymer. You'll run into cardboard brimmed hats that are older or vintage occasionally. I can usually tell by flexing / bending the brim gently. If it has a lot of give or bend It could be cardboard and I usually don't chance it. If the brim is more stiff/hard with less give it almost always plastic. I hope this makes sense. But like I said, most hats nowadays are made to be hand washable. I hope this helps! ~ Justin
@@CoachCommerceyeah I had this old hat my grandpa gave me and it got sweaty and dirty after wearing it for a few months threw it right into the washer and dryer even tho it didn’t get messed up the brim was made out of cardboard making the brim very low and I haven’t worn it since
Haha! I know someone would appreciate it in the video. I'll get around to posting it on eBay soon. If you turn to eBay, you'll find them well under the billion threshold. lol
I’m sorry to hear that happened to you. Hand wishing with hats has always worked best for me. Doing so, you can control the detergent around and how much the hat is scrubbed/agitated. Plus, air drying has always worked best for me too. It take a little longer to dry, but the hats don’t get damaged that way.
Most modern hats have brims made of plastic or some other type of waterproof material. Vintage hats, or hats that are cheap or of low quality may have a brim made of cardboard. If you're uncertain, you can always do a flex test. Gently bend the brim. If it's stiff, its probably plastic. If it bends like you'd image a cardboard box would bend, then well, its cardboard. Hope this helps.
I store my hats (as well as most of my other inventory) in big rubbermaid bins. It keeps them nice and organized for inventory purposes, and keeps them from getting crushed/damaged. I get storage containers from Sam's club, but you can find them at any store like Walmart or Target. Most tubs are stackable if you don't have shelves.
Hey Justin thanks for the information I have ruined a couple hats trying to get stains out. How do I find your eBay store? I’d like to see your products. Thanks, Kay
Hi there Kay! Glad I could help. I have two stores. My smaller store under the same name as this channel is "coachcommerce." My larger anchor store is "route*46*"

how do you determine whether the hat has a cardboard bill?

Fr idk want to do anthing until ik for sure.
What about dry cleaning.
Useful video. Go ahead...
I use a balloon with a towel over it inside the hat to keep shape
How the hell do I check is the brim is made from cardboard

Great vid, only problem is 99% of hats have cardboard brim.

Top rack in the dishwasher with a PH neutral detergent. It's that simple

Saw some improvement but not nearly as good as I expected.
Be easier buying a new hat!
Not when you have a hat you love and can't find anymore
You don't get it, obviously
