Very helpful video, I just finished my install. One note: I agree with the other commenter who said just put your car in reverse, that worked perfectly. Did not have to get under the car!

If you place your vehicle in reverse, you can skip inserting Allen key through the bottom of your vehicle. Leave the car in reverse when installing the new shifter, and the reverse lock out cable will have more than enough length to re install.
But if it accidentally gets bumped 😮

The rear shifter bushing is a huge PITA to remove and replace.

Hey subispeed. I know this may be an odd question, but Im looking to add that sti trim piece with the circular shifter boot to my wrx… would you guys by any chance know if that will be a direct fit or not? I don't want the center diff piece just the shifter console above it. is that possible?
You guys should sell the the STI Trim around the shifter. When that little STI badge glows up it adds a nice touch and alot of people would like it.

Just installed the shifter to my 16' STI. Love the new setup but I'm having rattle noise while driving...noise increases with speed.

Manuel Ferran I'm gabbing rattling too and even hear the flywheel chatter more which is really annoying.

i just installed the cobb short throw shifter on my 2017 sti too, somehow there is rattle on 5th and 6th gear. someone please help.
Huynh Huu Nhieu it's probably your reverse cable hitting the driveshaft or just the added noise from the bushings if you installed those too. you can hear a lot of the transmission noise that comes up the the chassis and that very annoying to me. I'm old though so I like cars quiet lol

What if you didn’t use the Allen key for the reverse cable lock and you accidentally shift the rod that shifter bolts into does that mess up positioning of the shifter I have it finished but looks a tad off or maybe it’s how it’s supposed to look any help please
Hey Kevin what is all that black stuff on the undercarriage? I'm sure it's some kind of spray to reduce road noise but what brand did you use?
The car actually had that applied when we purchased it. It's probably just an undercoating spray to help against rust and such.

Yes, you will be able to adjust height and it will still shorten throws over the factory STS.
@subiespeed is this basically the same for the 08-14 Sti as well ?
The shifter knob is the same thread as the stock knob, yeah?

Crap. I forgot to tie up the reverse cable before taking things out for a test drive. Now I know what that weird sound was.
This was a struggle to follow along and see what specific thing you were doing. Definitely needed a closer camera angle.

You shouldn't have to. You are only removing the shift linkage, not the transmission.
how's that CAI working on the sti.....wanted it but the rumors I here about those with tune makes me nervous. car so far on?

More detail on what goes where and when. You guys constantly skip parts of the install and explain very brief. Same goes for the LED fog bezel video. Terrible with wiring instructions for people doing it for the first time.
