- A 1970 Plymouth Cuda 440 Rapid Transit Show Car, one of the four original Plymouth Rapid Transit System Caravan traveling road show cars, was recently sold at Mecum Indy for $2 million.
This particular Cuda, with only 967 miles on the odometer, has been hidden away for over 50 years. It was built for Plymouth by renowned customizer Chuck Miller and is considered a mechanical masterpiece. As an early production car, it bears the serial number 100005 and retains its original 440 6-BBL driveline.
The car was part of the Rapid Transit System Caravan, a factory group of custom cars displayed at auto shows and dealerships in the early 1970s. The car's unique design features, original paint, and excellent preservation make it highly desirable among Mopar collectors. With its historical significance and iconic design, this Cuda is sure to be a prized addition to any collection.

Thx. Mecum auctioneer’s for speaking clear so everyone can understand 👍👍👍✌️✌️
Completely unbelievable. It's so crazy u could go buy loaded cuda in 71 for less than 4K
Inflation? 4K would have been like 30k back then.
@@iamking7579 and it sold for $2.2 …
Different times people back then had less money to spend then today
It wasn't the price of the car back then, it was the cost of insurance.
So happy you guys sold it for that much peace of history. One day I’ll try to look up the build plate to find my dad’s 1970 dodge challenger I was delivered from the hospital in that car his girlfriend talked him into selling it years ago since then, he passed. I remember being able to use it on the weekends and I feel like I had driving it was freedom.
Utter and complete freedom
ALL 4 of the RTS cars need to be scanned and recreated in 1:18 scale die cast collectibles for all of us who would love to have that piece of automotive history in our homes. That would be the ultimate way of honoring the wish of the previous owner.
loaded into a trailer never to see the light of day ever again.
Bidder # 303 and new owner would 11O% agree.
Such a cool Cuda from the Rapid Transit System!!! Good to see this car getting some proper recognition!!! Some say it is ugly, beauty is in the eye of the beholder and I think it is cool!!! Now if someone could find the Sonic Cuda!!!
U know your e bodies !!!
WOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOW a dream come true
Can’t imagine any current electric cars ever having the soul, or the investment value, of this ‘Cuda.
Very cool!!!!!!!!!!! 👍👍
The front of the car is just sick. What an amazing car with an amazing story.
I used to watch your auction faithfully never missing it but it’s sad because now I can’t watch them because of being on a fixed income and can’t afford to have cable. You need to show the auctions on TH-cam again.
Sucks trying to live off a disability check doesn’t it?
I suggest voting Trump.
@@kennyt8730 I agree.
WOW 😳
congrats to Chuck Miller..
class act of a soul.
Did he just say that story wasn't told to make the car bring MORE 😮FLAT OUT LIED ON NATIONAL TV...RUN FOR OFFICE!!😅
2 Boomers that saw the car at the RTS traveling show and they both wanted it, at the same time! It only takes 2 to have an auction!
👏
Great to see another Fish broke the auction. Only RTS could make it!💪
It's great they found a matching wheel for the front left too!
It was with the car all along - it was in the trunk.
Crazy
Another one in the 7 figures. WOW.
couldn't be and tossly flake wet your whistle without that panicake mixture
What ?
As an Australian 10-year-old kid i remember this ride from a trade magazine in 1973, I've had more than 1 Mopar (Dodge Phoenix 383) which broke my heart to sell (kids come 1st). This bought a tear to my eye...
crazy🤩
Still remember the quick gavel on the Hemi Cuda Craig Jackson bought for himself. Three wasn’t any long drawn out auctioneer call. This would have sold at 600,000 if they did the same method
Cool and sad if that is the real story , the Ghost Challenger is a great car but is a fake story that generated a million.
two ;- ())
I have The Forgotten Cuda
That is so sick.
Reminds me of a Benny Hinn ceremony.
USA
What a bargain.
Lynnwood Brian 😈- I'm a mopar fan had a satellite muscle 💪 car I❤ it!
Chrysler pride in ownership. Money well spent.
I saw a video where they said the year before it was maybe a lime green, and the next year they wanted it to look fresh so they surface sanded the old paint and just painted the current design over it. So the original is still there to, that's free shit.
it was a darker than lime color w black roof, Very few pics of it in that firsy paint job. The red /orange. wht fade "made" this car
Told you it would sell for a lot.

Why it got that my money because it was the only one and it went on dodge company tour around the usa there are 2 more cars but i do not know if they are still around it was different cars
public schooling?
Why does the original pictures show different wheels???😮
Why is this car so special? Did I miss something?
Some fugly car, Mopar guys, the red headed step children of the car community. 😂😂😂
That's where the diamonds are hiding at 🤣😮☝🏾
Yes obvious have no real E body real taste !!!
I can't help but wonder who bought it. 1%er? Have to be, ain't a whole lot of average Joe hot rodders have funds like that sitting around.
Bidder 303 and trust me, the public will now never see it agn.
What is that from the banana splits?
jiggs you're telling your age, love that show
Suddenly a hoarder wants people to see their cars. Interesting.
Ur point is ?
@@apatheticempathy Hoarders suck!
Built Jann 23 1973 end of vietnam
I'd rather have a Superbird...
Come on , this is a prime example of millionaires overpaying for a car , which hurts everyone . Pathetic !
What ?
over princing
It's stupid for this car to be that much
$2M for an ugly looking car lmao
With a wild history and customized by a legend and is a 1of4 and is a cuda and has less than 1000 miles
How much did you spend on your shitbox Ford Gaystroke?
Rich people and their egos.
@formula112967 More than you can afford pal
@@ironking76 and don't forget being drunk 😆🤣🤣
That car on it's best day isn't, and never will be worth a million dollars
$51 mill Ferrari is far more interesting.
Man thats one ugly car. I bet you couldn't have gotten 5k for it back in the late 70s
A style only a mother could love.. tbh It's pretty Ugly.
Completely useless. Engine bay and trunk paint is atrocious. It’s not a drivable vehicle. Back into storage.
It probably went to the brothers collection.grey ghost probably did too.
🤔how much i can get for my 1970 dodge monaco 440 magnum 8 pack🤔
More money than brains.
In a way, this is more sad than exciting. That old dude kept it all those years - and never enjoyed it. Now he's dying in a nursing home and he can't enjoy the money either. Whom ever bought it - will most likely squirl it away again. And no one will ever enjoy it. It's a real shame to see. But I did watch. LOL
