@craiglizt8074 yes he lost control of an uncontrollable car. Because of how the car was designed it caught on fire when it crashed. They where stuck in the car and burned to death.
The GT 40 is just about as good as it gets. The Ferrari 250 and maybe a few others I can't think of right now are so over the top (ART) It's so hard to imagine the money spent. I'm very happy for those who have them to enjoy. Quite a treat just to see them.
I bet nobody was financing these cars. 😂 It's the average person that has to finance stuff that's suffering in this economy. If it continues, you'll see it in the auctions in a couple of years for these astronomical cars. But if you want to see that the economy is in doing so good, take a trip down to your local car dealer and check out their lot. It's probably completely full
🙄 "so I'm told the economy is in shambles" is the stupidest comment here... Do you really think people that have 1,2,3 million for collector cars are struggling to pay bills? They are the elite that own everything and are causing the economy to falter. And stuff like this is an investment to them because they certainly aren't driving them to work.
No, they have as much brains as money. They are very successful in their personal and business finances, have had the financial savvy to build impressive wealth and can afford to own some of the rarest, most valuable, and collectible automobiles ever built. Do wealthy people who buy oceanside estates, Picasso paintings, 10- carat diamonds, or bottles of priceless wines for millions of dollars have more money than brains? No, because if they had no brains, they wouldn't be rich.
all the cars that didnt make estimates including these and so many went unsold the market is soft and idiots asking unrealistic prices and that $3m Daytona was nice but an ugly color
Mecum is back in Monterey! Which vehicle was your favorite?
That Ford GT40 selling for $7.1 million was one of the coolest things I've ever watched. Also that Porsche Carrera GT was 🔥🔥🔥
A legendary car deserves a legendary price!!!
Isn't that the car that killed Paul walker?
@frankcastle9691 The Porsche? Yes I believe it was.
@@frankcastle9691 he was a passenger. The driver lost control. The car didn't kill anyone.

3m dollars for charger daytona is crazy
and an ugly color must have been a service guy like me that ordered a new car when over seas and he wanted the Olive Drab color
That's exactly my thoughts too. Never thought one would hammer for that price. SMH
probably insider bid from someone who own multiple. Wanted to created a new floor .. and wired his buddy the money to pay for this own car

The best cars from car week were Ford. This Ford GT40 and then the Mustang GTD during exotics on broadway.
The Packard fot sure. Looks like Mecum is the auction that brings the big dollars 💸!
It's not mecum. It's monterey. There are 4 auctions during var week and mecum is the lowest. Sothebys and Gooding and broken arrow bring in more.
Cobra from the garage to the Jersey Turnpike 6 minutes 30 seconds. That's 15 seconds better than last year.

They are meaningless to the average person and why
