You're not realistic and you clearly didn't even research before hitting RECORD.
The First Gen only ran MY'99 thru MY'04. The Xterra has always been on the Frontier platform.
The reason Nissan killed the XTerra was regulations. Specifically crash/rollover. While they could fix the crash, as tehy managed it for the Frontier, there's nothing they can fix for the rollover so long as they keep the stadium seating. Drive a Frontier and an Xterra along a highway on-ramp sweeping turn and you will feel it lift the inside rear tire and trigger the SLP light. THIS is why they had to kill it.
Coil rear live axle will require a major re-engineering of the platform. You can claim the overseas Navara managed to do it, but it isn't teh same thing. They stuck with leaf springs precisely so they could remain the value proposition.
The Pathfinder can't overland because of the IFS/IRS cannot be lifted more than an inch without significant work. The double wishbone is too short.
As much as I want a new XTerra, Nissan won't bring it. Even if they call it the Terra (copyright issues, they don't own XTerra, but do own Terra). They would have to make it a 2row SUV that looks like a Frontier with a shorter bed and a cap on the bed. It would look like a Rogue or Pathfinder. It would compete with the Rogue, which is precisely why the WON'T build it. Just as they will never bring out a Special Edition Frontier with the Titan powertrain (engine-trans, axle, width, payload, everything) even though there's no longer anything that it would compete with.

You clearly have strong opinions on this topic, but I believe you have underestimated Nissan and their capabilities. I think a coil spring rear suspension would be something they can manage. And I also don’t think you’re correct about the roll over being the main reason they can’t bring it back. There are plenty of chassis modifications and changes they can make to make it more stable IE Weight Distribution, and wider track with, and many other things. And proof it can be done is the competition IE Jeep Wrangler, Ford Bronco, and Toyota 4Runner. I appreciate your comment, and don’t entirely disagree with you. I just think you’re mistaken about a few things.

This is literally the dumbest thing I've heard in a long time. Nissan didn't kill the Xterra for A SINGLE reason you mentioned. They killed it for similar reasons as the Toyota FJ Cruiser. It wasn't selling, due to terrible gas mileage, at a time when gas was expensive. In addition, Nissan is terrible at marketing, which is the same reason the Titan is now getting discontinued. I remember tons of advertising for the 1st Gen Xterra. I'm not sure I've ever seen a single advertisement for the 2nd Gen Xterra. Nissan stopped advertising the Titan like 9 years ago. You can't sell something if people don't know it exists. A lot of this has to do with the corporate turmoil at Nissan. But good Lord, I've never seen someone miss the mark so badly. If Nissan came out with a 3rd Gen Xterra, based on the 3rd Gen Frontier, and they actually advertised it, people would rush to buy it if it was less expensive than a 4Runner. Even 4Runner owners hate the 2025 engine options. I just talked to 2021 4Runner TRD Pro owners today at Home Depot. They said they won't buy another one with those engine options.
