If you think about it, each of the alien encounters in this game represent something. Sylvester, at least before Balrog, in tank 1 represents fear, more specifically, the fear of the unknown, and also irrational fears. The first time you see him, a warning box pops up, something that only would have happened if you got to $0 in 1-1. When you press it, the previously happy music becomes more suspenseful and sinister. A short time afterwards, a blue xenomorph-like fish creature with long claws and fangs emerges from the portal with a roar, and starts eating your fish, with intense, startling music playing in the background. Most new players are blindsided by him, and most kids who were playing would run away from the computer in fear, from the weakest enemy in the game. Balrog in tank 1 also represents fear, but rather the fear of change. You get the enemy approaching alert as normal, but instead of Sylvester coming out, there's a completely new beast in it's place. It's also much tougher and eats your fish faster that what you're used to. The Sylvester-Balrog combo in tank 1 represents fear, and this time, it's the fear of the unknown, and the fear of change. The first new alien alert, the only thing that you can expect is that there's more than one alien this time. You have to guess if it's 1 Sylvester and 1 Balrog, or if it's 10 Sylvesters, and no Balrogs, or if it's any other combination of the two. In tank 2, Sylvester and Balrog represents repetition, since they're only carried over so that the game can have Gus and Destructor look stronger than they are. Gus in tank 2 represents change. You get a popup saying that this new alien can't be attacked by lasers, and it has it's own signature. He comes in, and you have to attack him with fish food, star potions, and he's damaged by eating your fish, a complete 180 from the tank 1 aliens. Destructor in tank 2 also represents change. Instead of moving through the tank eating fish, Destructor roams around the base of the tank, shooting missiles at fish that kill them, another complete 180 from the tank 1 aliens, and also Gus. The Sylvester-Balrog combo in tank 2 still represents fear, but this time, fear of the unlikely. Most players won't see it in tank 2-5, but if they do, they would have thought that Sylvester and Balrog wouldn't appear after 2-1 and 2-2, but they have a very small chance of appearing here, and could seriously mess with someone who are too used to fighting Gus and Destructor. Balrog, Destructor, and Gus in tank 3 represent nostalgia. They bring your mind back to the old days where alien attacks weren't so hectic, and they had a good gimmick every once in a while. Psychosquid represents frustration. Unless you count Cyrax, he's the tankiest alien in the game, and is easily the biggest threat up to that point, as he can also turn blue and absorb your laser shots and make it heal him. Ulysses also represents frustration. He's like destructor, but instead of missiles, he fires energy balls that can kill stray fish as fast as an alien can. Not to mention his high health pool, and the fact that his projectiles home in on fish before you shoot at them. Balrog and Gus in tank 4 represent tradition, as they've been carried over through almost the entire game at this point. Bilaterus represents quantity, and, to a lesser extent, quality. The last non-final-boss-of-doom alien in the game, he is unique as he has 2 health bars, can switch direction and hitboxes instantly after the first one, and covers a stupidly large area of the tank. The Balrog and Psychosquid combo represents tradition vs modernization. Balrog is tradition, as he has been handed down through every tank since the first one, and is a fairly difficult enemy. Psychosquid is modern, as he was the 2nd most recent alien, and is a much bigger threat than the older Balrog, but has to go into a mode that stops him from attacking, and will be the first thing you will try to take down, making the traditional option more reliable, but less able compared to when the modern option is working. The Destructor and Ulysses combo represents Quantity vs Quality. Destructor is the quantity, as Destructor fires more projectiles, that can be shot down easier, at a faster rate, and has less health. Ulysses is the quality, as he fires fewer projectiles at a slower rate, but they cannot be shot down without a specific pet, and has more health, making the quantity able to work better, as you will be more focused on taking down the quality before it can do too much damage to your fish. Cyrax represents much of what the last aliens represented. Fear via being the Final Boss Of Doom and having the formerly invincible pets being mortal, change via spawning the other aliens and Mini-Sylvesters, frustration by having a huge amount of hp and spawning aliens and Mini-Sylvesters, quantity and tradition with his alien spawns, and quality and modernization by having a huge amount of hp. Or, of course, I could be reading far too deeply into a fish-raising fps game.
Psychosquid scared the crap out of me when I was kid. Whenever I was in a level he could potentially appear in I always worried so much he would appear lol.
Helpful hints about the aliens: Sylvester will get "full" after eating a fish, and he'll wait a while before eating another. Be warned, this is not the case for any other alien that eats fish! Projectile aliens like Ulysses and Destructor tend to prefer targets that are the farthest away from them. Any segment of Bilaterus (heads or tail) can eat fish.
No wonder Sylvester is weak. On the topic of Ulysses, in 1.0 his orbs were like Destructor's rockets, they didn't hurt any fish except the targetted ones, so he got buffed quite a lot in 1.1.
@@DefinitelyFakeGrantOBrien Yeah, sometimes it's better just to take the bullet (almost quite literally) and have the fish he shot at die, rather than risk trying to save it and end up clearing your tank.

I remember I used to play this game when I visited my grandparents' house. I got scared by the first alien though and never played it again, lmao. That was over a decade ago...
I know nothing that wasn't an alien died in the final level, but some innocent forces did die throughout the game, so here's a death list for y'all. At 0:12, a baby guppy was eaten by a carnivore. At 1:03, a guppycruncher was eaten by a Psychosquid. At 1:58, a baby guppy was eaten by a Balrog. At 1:59, 3 baby guppies were eaten by a Psychosquid. At 2:00, a medium guppy was eaten by a Psychosquid. At 2:10, a baby guppy and a medium guppy were eaten by a Psychosquid. At 2:12, a medium guppy was eaten by a Psychosquid. At 2:21, a baby guppy and a breeder were killed by an orb from an Ulysses.
The eating one scared the heck out of me when I was little. Ran behind the two-seater in utter fear when he appeared, although he's the least scary one.
Psychosquid roaming around in healing mode near (or sometimes straight besides) the fish, then went back to attack mode and instantly obliterating a lot of the tank population will never not be funny
If Psychosquid goes very fast after going back to attack mode which can mow down more fishes than when moving at a normal speed after regeneration mode. At least the encounter at 2:09, he doesn't go very fast thus when that happens, it will become easier for the player to let him away from fishes. But in this video because he is not deflected to the left, 3 guppies were eaten by him after reverting back to attack mode. The encounter at 1:15, however, Psychosquid does not turn away so the player of a gameplay shown in this video was lucky where there are times that he will not move fast or turn away after regeneration mode.

i dont think auto clicker would even work, the enemy become invincible in a brief moment after receiving damage, still trick to the last boss is that dont kill the robot dude, leave him alive and focus on the boss, since others alien have reduced chance to spawn or not at all when atleast 1 alien already spawned, just shoot down the rockets whenever it appear
The horror of Challenge mode tank 4 when it announces that the "aliens difficulty is increased".... brrr..... I still can remember 8 aliens coming through at the same time.... :d
me at the age of 15: Bilaterus is type eleven (11) me at the age of 17: dang it it's || (as in double vertical bars) stupid old me thought it was the 11th alien
I remember back then for some reason I always refuse to use any alien attacking pets except like their debut level lmao Tank 4 were really hell back then when Destructor and Ulysesses coming because I always having hard time to control their projectiles Gumbo always my lifesaver in my gameplay and Blip is like a cheat code and always use him after I got him, and finally Niko as passive income (I know the coins controlling pets are better, but somehow I always felt something missing if I don't bring Niko along). After unlocking 4 pets, I I maybe use Presto and set it up as either Walter or that blue whale for early game.
Haiyaaaaaa, you gotta hate the fact Cyrax and the Alien Duos are the hardest to take out cuz you have to strategize your shooting WITHOUT BREAKING YOUR MOUSE and FREAKING OUT at the same time.
Whenever the octopus goes neutral drain mode thing. I shoot it abit on the side i want to make it go to the opposite direction where none of my fish are
I remember when my friend showed me this game when I was 8 or 9 XD. Also this granny game when you need to save cats with this level editor and a multi-player that i forgot the name of.. anyone know that granny game im talking about?
Vert's moneyrate is not as high as Niko's, Shrapnel's or Brinkley's, but I do not see why people wouldn't use him, at least early-mid game. Rhubarb is useless for the most part, but can be used largely to protect fish in case a ground alien or Gus comes. Amp may be savage to guppies, but you get diamonds, that are worth twice as much as a guppy. You can certainly recover. Amp is incredibly profitable. Blip is useless only in Challenge mode, since it will just unlock everything and make things harder. Otherwise, it is one of the most useful pets yet, providing information such as fish hunger, alien health and alien location. Almost never underestimate Blip!
Cool, although you forgot one more, it's rare and only happens in Challenge Tank 4 when Alien Difficulty is increased: it's Bilaterus and Balrog together, You can see it if you start from 7:13 in this video: th-cam.com/video/0JzF85oga4Y/w-d-xo.html
I was actually thinking of recording the battle, but it was so difficult, that was only until I realized that the difficulty determines the aforementioned alien battle, or it won't appear. Thank you for the information!
Oh, while we're on the topic for Bilaterus multiple alien battles, I was wondering if there is also a combination between Bilaterus and Psychosquid in Challenge mode. If so, that would make it the single worst kind of combination, even more so than Destructor and Ulysses.

Legends tap the mouse with two fingers
yes omg used to play this game as a kid using my laptops trackpad
The death animation in this game will haunt me forever
The alien type D is the easiest to fight without harming any fish
2:48 cyrax, destructor, ulysses (seeks rocky brother) psycho squid (squidwards maniacal brother): scew the guppy killing we're gunna kill your stoopid pets that helped to win this game
gus (wasnt in the fight): W E R E F E W D
i dont think auto clicker would even work, the enemy become invincible in a brief moment after receiving damage, still trick to the last boss is that dont kill the robot dude, leave him alive and focus on the boss, since others alien have reduced chance to spawn or not at all when atleast 1 alien already spawned, just shoot down the rockets whenever it appear
Wouldn't go for more than 36 times per second given the framerate
best game for the computer if you're in classic otherwise PAC-MAN nice miss that game since the disk broke
This is the start of my fingers getting hurt of keep spamming
The horror of Challenge mode tank 4 when it announces that the "aliens difficulty is increased".... brrr..... I still can remember 8 aliens coming through at the same time.... :d
4 Destructor + 4 Ulysses or 4 Balrog + 4 Psychosquid?
There's one more multiple aliens combination: Balrog + Bilaterus in Challenge Tank 4 (Difficulty 2)
I want that Cyrax laugh
SPONGEBOB: I THINK THERE CUTE🤗

Bilaterus is type eleven (11)
me at the age of 17:
dang it it's || (as in double vertical bars) stupid old me thought it was the 11th alien
I thought that as a child

It's actually Roman Numerals. And I somehow new that at 5 years old.

Easy way to defeat all bosses
1. Use auto clicker with no time (if you have it)
Just use a laptop pad
Only Stinky survived in my final battle
I remember back then for some reason I always refuse to use any alien attacking pets except like their debut level lmao
Tank 4 were really hell back then when Destructor and Ulysesses coming because I always having hard time to control their projectiles
Gumbo always my lifesaver in my gameplay and Blip is like a cheat code and always use him after I got him, and finally Niko as passive income (I know the coins controlling pets are better, but somehow I always felt something missing if I don't bring Niko along).
After unlocking 4 pets, I I maybe use Presto and set it up as either Walter or that blue whale for early game.
ahh yes niko and that submarime dude
I was 2 years old 😅 3 when this 🎮 was released in August of 2006.
Coming back to this video, I encountered the Balrog-Bilaterus Combo for the first time yet. 😮
Oh my god I was crazy clicking every time
Sound herobrine like cyrex🙂
This is my favorite game when i was 2/2010
I born in 2008
Imo Ulysses is the most dangerous if you dont have the lantern fish
Feeding the fish was aight but the real joy for me was seeing the alien and getting to blast it with the laser gun
i thought you had to use the star potions on Gus, thanks for helping me!

Haiyaaaaaa, you gotta hate the fact Cyrax and the Alien Duos are the hardest to take out cuz you have to strategize your shooting WITHOUT BREAKING YOUR MOUSE and FREAKING OUT at the same time.
damn you not losing any pet was awesome

Whenever the octopus goes neutral drain mode thing. I shoot it abit on the side i want to make it go to the opposite direction where none of my fish are
Okay naming the mother fish a prego sounds incredibly wrong
Bruh the octopus isn't even an alien
a pet gone rouge
I remember when my friend showed me this game when I was 8 or 9 XD. Also this granny game when you need to save cats with this level editor and a multi-player that i forgot the name of.. anyone know that granny game im talking about?
possibly you're thinking about super granny. there's like 6 or so games in that series.
@@paperdragon5583 YES! THATS THE GAME! Ty!

Don't use vert, rhubarb or amp and blip. they are useless and savage to fish
@@DefinitelyFakeGrantOBrien How does Rhubarb protect fish? I think it unprotects more than protects
i don't know if i love or hate the '14 signatures' fake out
When I was a kid i literally shit my pants when the alien came first time
Its name literally says Insanity and Insaniquarium that the fishes are hallucinating
I thought it's because it's driving Player insane because of clicking
Wait what where angie
She left out of the fight to revive the dead pets
This why we need auto clicker.
It's all bosses
Nah, if Tank 4-4 had 14 aliens in it, this will be harder.

Cool, although you forgot one more, it's rare and only happens in Challenge Tank 4 when Alien Difficulty is increased: it's Bilaterus and Balrog together,
You can see it if you start from 7:13 in this video: th-cam.com/video/0JzF85oga4Y/w-d-xo.html
That would be impossible to defeat.
I wonder if what happenen if u use auto clicker
Was about to find out and try it
1:58 Dude it's look like lion
I hate the combo of Ulysues and Destructor it’s annoying. I’ve gotten better tho
Try use angie and you will not gonna have a problem from the combo
