To me, 106 & Park is to the early-mid 2000’s what New York Undercover was in the early-mid 90’s. It captured the culture of the time and it can not really be replicated. I loved coming home from school, doing homework(if I hadn’t already finished it at school lol) and then having a snack while watching 106 &Park. It such a shame that greed and stupidity lead to the demise of the show. Rocsi and Terrace were pretty good but no hosts compare to Aj and Free❤️❤️❤️❤️

I watched that episode of 106 & Park live airing MJ’s passing . I remember them changing the rest of the count down to his music videos. Also you couldn’t turn to ANY channel without his music playing for weeks . It didn’t even have to be a music network !!! Tbh that’s when I learned his music . Before his passing , all I knew about MJ was that he changed his skin color, sexual harassment allegations , and drama with his non black children. I remember my friends and I like 13 @ the time , acting out “The Way You Making Me Feel” video and me being in the mirror “playing” the Dirty Diana guitar solo 😂. To me, 106 & Park is to the early-mid 2000’s what New York Undercover was in the early-mid 90’s. It captured the culture of the time and it can not really be replicated. I loved coming home from school, doing homework(if I hadn’t already finished it at school lol) and then having a snack while watching 106 &Park. It such a shame that greed and stupidity lead to the demise of the show. Rocsi and Terrace were pretty good but no hosts compare to Aj and Free❤️❤️❤️❤️

I was a Senior in High School when I saw the Destiny's Child performance. I love Michelle. You're taught to keep it moving if you mess up or fall during a performance. She got back up and finished the performance like a pro. I never understood the hate she received over the years. It doesn't have to be considered as a hate thing because if you're hating on someone, there's nothing really embarrassing about that. But if you feel for someone in the moment and in a way of feeling bad for another individual because of a shocking situation..it can leave you feeling like "damn, that really happened for them". I feel so bad for Keshia Chante. She is such a sweet heart and I had a small but lovely convo with her back when she released her Table Dancing song. She really has a humbling spirit. I watched that episode of 106 & Park live airing MJ’s passing . I remember them changing the rest of the count down to his music videos. Also you couldn’t turn to ANY channel without his music playing for weeks . It didn’t even have to be a music network !!! Tbh that’s when I learned his music . Before his passing , all I knew about MJ was that he changed his skin color, sexual harassment allegations , and drama with his non black children. I remember my friends and I like 13 @ the time , acting out “The Way You Making Me Feel” video and me being in the mirror “playing” the Dirty Diana guitar solo 😂. That really shows how impactful his music was 2 generations later 😩❤️🔥. Also if I remember correctly they were airing commercials promoting his last tour before he died . He called the tour “This Is It” 😢
I ended up discovering a lot more of his music around that time too. The '09 BET Awards completely changed their format to become a show honoring him, which is where I first heard 'The Lady in My Life' (sung by Ne-Yo). Such a fantastic song! That award show definitely inspired me to listen to more of his catalog, beyond what I knew of at the time
