- sorry for the gap in uploads, i was out of town and then i've been sick the past week. today, we're talking about my time with destiny rising. i'm only about 10-15 hours deep at this point, but destiny rising has surprised me and surpassed my expectations as someone who doesn't play gacha games or mobile games. this video is a mix of explaining what destiny rising actually is and my experience playing.

Destiny Rising looks like something I would absolutely sink my teeth into, which is exactly why I won’t get anywhere near it. I’ve spent enough on bottomless CN/JP/KR money sinks to know these rabbit holes are dangerous to approach.
it's got all the things you need!
decent gameplay, meticulously crafted dopamine triggers to keep you invested and TONS and i mean TONS of ways to spend your money.
the game is designed top to bottom to drain your wallet as much as possible. half-decent gameplay that tickles the fancy of destiny 2 players is just part of that.
@@thatoneguy2274idk why mobile game players insist that genshin or honkai is in any way ‘good.’
@@cwj2733 I mean I've played Genshin Impact on PC. I thought the gameplay was really good. I'm not into anime, as a video game aesthetic anyway, so I left after about like 5 hours. I've also played another gacha game on PC for another like 4 hours. Can't remember the name, but it also had quite good gameplay. These can be and are good games. Genshin's open world in particular I hear keeps getting better and better. But I do NOT wanna ever talk to you if you're someone who does spend a ton of money on a gacha game. The same way I don't want to talk to a serial gambler. Because a gacha player probably a)does not understand what is being done to them by the game, which is crazy or b) they know the game is trying to bleed them dry of their money, but they just don't care and keep spending, which is also crazy because again, that is a serial gambler basically. I just have zero respect for chronic gacha game players. But they can be good games.
@@moopey1837 they are not good games because they are predatory by nature. they want you to gamble. gambling is an addiction like any other addictive thing
if youre talking about honkai impact.. well that is a fully fledged really well thought out singleplayer jrpg where spending money or interacting with the gacha doesnt even matter as the game makes you use certain characters that they give you to do the story. and its genuinely a fantastic story@@cwj2733
yep, its a mobile game.
i mean that's not really the insult many people think it is these days. there are some incredibly high-quality mobile games out there, and DR looks likes it's going be among the best.
@@mrsmi1ey Graphically, sure. Though, most of the things core Destiny players are marveling at a "Destiny" game doing, Warframe (Mobile) already does that.
And I place Mobile in parens, because unlike Rising which is a spinoff that vet players need to start over to engage with, and is supposedly not canon to the story and lore, Warframe is the same game with cross save. So if a person tries it on mobile but doesn't like controls or graphics, they can cross save to a high end PC or console or even Switch.
TLDR: Rising will be decent for a mobile game. It's still ill-conceived and will cause issues for the franchise as a whole. It already is.
@@RedShadowOfSaturn Yeah but many (if not most) Destiny players don't want to play Warframe... they want to play Destiny. In addition, those same people have been clambering for a "Destiny 3," and it looks like Rising is as close as they're going to get to it. A lot of players WANT to start over in a new game, with new characters, enemies, and abilities. NetEase has already hinted that they're working on a PC launcher, and I think that would quite literally be a game changer for them. The only reason I played Genshin Impact when it launched was due to PC support. So if that's the case with Rising, and existing Destiny players can play a new Destiny game on PC, I think it's going to do some heavy numbers amongst the existing Destiny community.
@@RedShadowOfSaturn warframe cant even communicate the release of the android port of it and no one cares about the smaller player pool on ios
@@mrsmi1ey Not among the people who say "they don't want a D3 because they don't want to start over." I'm aware some people do, but again...if the story isn't canon, what's the point? Just to be able to say "I'm playing a DESTINY game with a bunch of features that don't exist in the core game?" "I'm so happy DESTINY finally has these things other games have had for years."
Destiny doesn't have those things...Destiny RISING does. Complete with horrible monetization to boot. Gambling. That's something DESTINY has needed.

Games like this always do a LOT of rewards when they first launch and simultaneously for the new/returning player experience. This is all to draw you in.
Wolf themself will be able to be fully maxed out just from the built-in progression guide.
You will likely be able to max out or come close to maxing a few of the 4 star heroes through materials rewarded via the launch bonuses and new player bonuses. These rewards will also be enough to pull two to three 5 star heroes, depending on your luck. I have put a decent amount of time into the alpha and I've managed to snag three 5 stars so far.
Once the novelty and hype has worn off, the rewards will slow down. They'll probably still have in-game events and passes with decent rewards. The passes tend to be cheaper than straight up buying lumia leaves / silver, but also require a greater time investment (like the subscription which has its own daily bounties and requires you to log in and play to benefit from it).
My advice if you're curious or your interest is piqued... There will be ample opportunities to earn free to play materials if you are willing to invest time into it. Save your in-game resources for a "banner" with heroes you care about and you'll be able to "spark" for that hero (pull until you get the guaranteed drop).
The subscriptions and passes generally aren't bad bang for your buck by gacha standards. Expect anywhere from like $5~$20 for a month sub / several months pass.
Don't impulse buy. Gacha is gambling. The "pity" system to guarantee you drops just means you can save up for heroes you actually care about. Exert a little bit of self control and it's definitely worth giving a try.
Because your comment isn't rage-bait it's not as high up as it should be. I appreciate your PSA because if people can approach this in a healthy way, we can have a fun Destiny game for all kinds of players to enjoy.
I was gonna say "who let bro yap, I'm not reading all that", but this is a genuinely great "before you get screwed" PSA for those new to gacha games
I've played a ton of gacha games. The new player experience always throws tons of rewards at you, but eventually they dry up and you hit a wall where your upgrades aren't keeping up with the difficulty curve. That's usually where I just quit and jump onto the next gacha game.
Nice read. Good points in it. As a Destiny player I'm interested. And as a Net Ease player I'm interested. Just to point out I've been playing Diablo Immortal for about 6 months & haven't spent a penny & I like it. But I'm willing to spend some time & grind (per say) & not pay to win. I've got 2 characters who are plenty "beefy" with good gear. And all events & quests are available to me.
The sooner you accept you can’t have everything in a gacha game, the happier you’ll be. $5 a month at most unless it is ‘that’ character that you really can’t do without (not talking about from a collector standpoint)
hearing datto talk about how the stamina system and weapon/character needing different mats while not knowing that its basic gacha stuff is pretty funny
except that it's not just a gacha game thing. most live-service games have the same mechanics. datto specifically called this out in the video when he mentioned that he doesn't expect DR to simplify the system the same way Bungie did with Destiny 2 (eventually).
@@mrsmi1ey except it really is a gacha game thing if you actually watched the video and saw how it was implemented, and dont know any games besides gacha that use stamina so lol.
@@mrsmi1ey its what gacha game does
@@nazuna_simp stamina is almost the exact same mechanic as pinnacle gear is destiny. many, MANY live-service games use that kind of system as a way to limit how much powerful gear players can grind in a single day/week. the only difference is that some games (mobile or otherwise) will allow players to spend money to exceed those limits. you're essentially paying money to lessen the grind. this isn't dissimilar to how destiny 2 lets you pay to obtain season pass levels. these kinds of mechanics are NOT exclusive to gacha games, and exist in many different forms across many different genres of games, console, PC, or mobile.

Probably will never touch it myself purely because I don't really play mobile games, but that setpiece fight on the back of the pike was pretty cool. Impressed despite knowing I will likely never pick it up.
Again, please remember Diablo Immortal and don’t underestimate how scummy this game will get in shaking down players if they want to stay competitive, especially if the game has pvp modes.
Same company that's releasing Marvel Rivals tho. Diablo immortal was Diablo immortal bc Acti Blizz was behind it.
yeah act/blizzard are literal scums of the earth. itll be bad, but i dont think it will be *that* bad
@@icarusrising2787 Dude, NetEase were part of the Immortal development... They have been working with blizzard for almost two decades.
@@icarusrising2787act/blizz WISHES it was as aggressive and scummy as netease is. You haven't been in the gaming spaces they dominate because this take makes no sense if you have.
You're basically saying fromsoft is as bad as EA with that comparison
destiny rising will *likely* be better than diablo immortal... and that's a *bad* thing.
netease got better at shaking down their players. the whole reason why rising looks so much better is because they've tuned the whole thing to keep you playing and hit that dopamine just enough to foster an addiction, then once the new player bonusses run out they'll get you to spend a little bit of money, then a little more, then a lot more and before you know it you've spent 80 dollars getting the goth warlock.
12:10 If they are going for being similar to genshin/zzz or any of the other big gacha games,
Resource farming will be easy, giving a lot of resources per run. They way they balance it, is by using the same resource for claiming upgrade materials for getting gear.
So you need to decide what you focus on
So I've played a lot of Destiny Rising, probably more than I should for a closed alpha (I've C6'd most of the characters and done all of the dailies)
It's impressive how many systems there are here that work in the player's favor, having played nearly every big name gacha to come out since 2016-ish.
Magazines and barrels can be picked from *any* option on weapons, meaning that god rolls really only need to be 2/4s and you're set. Player guidance is also far better than D2's because it gives you a clear outline on what to do and what to use to get stronger, and the golden path that you unlock after the tutorial serves as a better version of guardian ranks, because it means you have to actually invest *heavily* into a few characters or at least moderately into all of them, which you can't necessarily pay your way or get carried through.
There actually aren't weekly lockouts on anything except raids, but you get weekly bonuses that will give you a massive chunk of resources to really juice a character on your first few clears of the week. There *are* issues that come up from how characters work, like Ikora is a boss DPS monster because you have nova bomb, a special GL, and a rocket launcher, while Kabr gets... a scout rifle and machine gun.
For the actual nerd shit, every perk gives *real* damage numbers, weapons tell you their base damage and damage output, and there's a firing range that actually shows range, damage per shot, and total damage, all of the stuff that we have to rely on mossymax, clarity, aegis, and the various teams of people who care to dig into that stuff.
Thanks. Yeah as. Someone who used to play mobile games a lot cause I never had a PC or console until I got into building them, this sounds like the perfect mobile game. I played a little genshin but could never really get into the art style and overall gameplay. This sounds like a great game to play during commute. Will probably make me get out of the house more cause the opportunity cost of leaving my PC will be significantly lower.
So many features and QoL/UI improvements and clarity we've been wanting for years in D2, a licensed mobile game implements a whole bucket list of them, and i guarantee Bungie still won't listen or change anything. Too little too late anyway imo
I hate that character focus you mention.. I wanna play my own character like in D2, which Wolf basically is, but underatandably that might not be enough in a gacha game. Which turns me off from trying otherwise refreshing Destiny experience with plenty of stuff I always wanted.
i think what you're failing to recognize datto, is that Netease is purposely putting in all of these activities and special things that Destiny 2 players HAVE BEEN ASKING FOR to attract players from D2.
The logo made think "What is this, a Mihoyo collab?"
Since it's developed by NetEase, it's not far off
This will end up the exact same as the apex mobile game.
It will have a decent player base at first and do some things better. Eventually, it will get shut down due to a lack of income, and a few key features that aren't in Destiny 2 will get added to the main game at some point. I'm sure it'll be fun. Nothing life changing.
Datto explaining a gotcha game in Destiny terms is hilarious, also Destiny has become so much like mobile game at this point adding gotcha character mechanics doesn't seem that odd anymore
Hearing all the new game modes in this mobile game stings a bit. Those are all things that should have been in the main game years ago
They're not "things that should have been in the game," we've gotten dozens upon dozens of activities over the years, they're just not these ones specifically. Besides SRL and the card game, which... please don't, spend the dev time on stuff that actually contributes to the game itself.
too many fans of destiny will defend bungie not innovating for years and years to their dying breath
@@skeletor8951 Their version of Gambit is genuinely better tho, Bungie needs to yoink and twist it.
This is one of the main reasons I stopped playing you could take years off the game and come back and outside of some new subclasses and an activity that'll go away in a few months everything would be the same compare that to Warframe or any other big MMO there's almost always some entirely new way to play the game after a year or two the last thing destiny did like that was add crafting@@cameronmckirdy4874
@@skeletor8951 Yes they are. People want so many BASIC game features in D2, that are in here. Don't be that guy, guy.

As a veteran destiny player I’m kinda enjoy the new light experience it feels so refreshing , the tutorial is not in your face, I like character interaction between you(Wolf or other characters),and your ghost! SRL of course. The Tier system for weapons pretty neat and also a Clan builder!
Unfortunately this is not in the main game and probably will get mobile team layoffs in the future.
lost me at "gotcha game"
It’s gacha not “gotcha” dude. Gacha is short for Gachapon it’s a type of machine in Japan and games use the same system as the real life machines.
This entire game feels like Destiny and Genshin Impact having a child. I’m familiair with both games and so none of this feels really ‘weird’ or ‘new’. Both the Destiny and Gacha part feel so incredibly familiar and there’s something about that. The feeling of basically already knowing the game without even having played it is… weird, to say the least.
This looks a lot cooler than I was expecting tbh. May have to give it a try.
Cannot believe we have a Destiny Gacha game ever, this is basically exactly what I was thinking if Genshin Impact or HSR has a baby with Destiny
Man if only Bungie wasnt actively imploding and we got content like this in Destiny
I played it on a massive 14 inch Android tablet and it was a pretty cool experience. Played with both controller and MK and definitely preferred controller. I'm not even going to try touch controls. I could see this being something I sink an hour or two into every now and then and I'm definitely shocked at how complete it feels. Getting a new light experience that doesn't suck was mind-blowing.
Hey man. What kinda controller did you use if I can ask. Same with the type of tablet
@magnusthered9635 it's a Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra (but don't buy one, the S10 ultra is out now) and an Xbox Series X controller.
I can see a lot of these characters designs and characteristics becoming exotics for destiny 2, main example: the Hunter with the sword, I could easily see that being a new special or heavy solar exotic sword.
I’ll probably drop into DR from time to time because it’ll be quite interesting to see an alternate take on Destiny’s lore, but the confirmed that it’ll be a gatcha has killed any motivation I may have had to seriously invest in the game.
Also, I want that scythe for my warlock in the main game.
As a long time Destiny player, The game feels great if you just treat it like a new Destiny expansion, most of the times while playing it i was absorbed into it enough i barely even thought about the fact i was playing a game on my phone (aside from the clunky controls and combat that feels dumbed down to accomidate the jank)
As a casual Genshin/HSR enjoyer, the game follows in thier footsteps making an actual game then basing its progression on gacha, rather than the normal mobile game model of making a gacha then trying to build something worth playing around it
it looks cool, i will be trying it. be fun to play during down time at work at the very least.
What would be really neat is if they followed what EA did with Apex Legends mobile; existing for 11 months during which time many expensive cosmetics were bought by the players and then SUNSETTING the entire game before it turned a year old.
Everyone should totally invest big bucks into Destiny Mobile 👌🏻
Pretty much exactly what I expected. I didn't get into the closed alpha but I'll give it a shot when it releases, but like every other gacha game from a franchise I enjoy, I expect that I'll have a bunch of fun with it and play it for a good week or two then never touch it again.

Best and most honest early thoughts on Rising that I've seen so far, great job as always Datto.
Loved that you called out the shank chase mission, that really impressed me. Haven't seen anybody mention that you can't even crouch/slide yet though, lol.
That would be a bit difficult to add in with mobile controls.
Yes a controller can be used and bluestacks, but it is still a game made for mobile and screen controls first and foremost.
I've only played for maybe an hour, currently in a bit of destiny burnout, but I may get in more now that I know there's DestinyGwent
While I do not have any interest in this game because it is mobile and a gotcha, I am interested to see where it goes and how well it does. There are many events in the lore that this game could get that would make me jealous of it. Battle of Six Fronts, Twilight Gap, these things that we always read about in Destiny 2, being playable in Destiny Rising? Yhea that would make me super jealous.
While the spelling doesn't really matter, the origins of Gacha games lie in Gachapon machines. These can be found in many places now, they're those little things you put a coin in and it gives a random toy or figurine
Honestly I'm decently impressed so far. It's engaging enough with varied and fun enough content that is still short enough i can play on my breaks at work and still feel like i accomplished something. It's definitely going to live or die by how heavily the monetization is pushed late game though.
I'm also really impressed by the things it honestly does better than D2. The Shinka are just more well executed champions and being able to unlock all mag and barrel perks on weapons while still keeping some random perk rolls is a great middle ground for D2s systems
I expect consistent destiny rising content datto !😂
I can’t imagine you not covering it. The mobile side of TH-cam would be great for you to get into! Assuming you can balance that. Destiny Rising is pretty great. I have really enjoyed hopping on for one strike, doing a challenge for more materials. Fun game.
Datto Rising
I agree a lot with what you have to say. I think my biggest problem with it is that it's a game on my phone and I don't like playing games on my phone. If it would ever come to console or PC I'd be more inclined to play more.
As a seasoned Destiny vet, I will 100% try this out. My concern is I play mobile games when I'm not home. I'm not going to carry a controller around with me, and I have a feeling the touchscreen controls will annoy me.
A spin foil hat theory I've thought of was that Destiny: Rising was a opportunity to test potential ideas that Bungie could implement into the base game in the future without having to devote so much development time and costs.
Destiny: Rising is the prototype and its ideas can be ported and polished up based on community feedback and reception.

this looks like a fun game to play when burnt out on destiny. its destiny enoough to not feel too different and lost, but just different enough to spice things up and feel refreshing
You know what's fun to play when burnt out on Destiny?
Warframe lmao
Why not play any other game when you get burnt out from Destiny?
ah yes. i’m burnt out from destiny. time to play destiny lite!
As an avid gacha game F2P player and a Destiny fan everything I have seen is standard affairs with alright pricing for thing's so far what will make or break it is if they truly keep weapons locked per character without anyway to unlock the ability to use different weapons it's gonna make character power creep really strong
I'm enjoying it so far just as a game I can waste some time on my break at work. Not planning on dropping a boatload of money on it or anything.
Oh, lol, datto addressed my question immediately.
If I'm not mistaken, Radagast is also voiced by Mithraax.
This looks like it'll be a 50/50 wither it makes it past the first year of its lifecycle or not. Depends on if the whales see it as worth dumping a mortgage worth on coloured pixels
thank you for explaining what a gacha game is, i genuinely always thought they were called that because the corpos behind it call "gatcha!" when we gave them our wallet
something either i missed or datto didn't mention:
gachapon machines were built specifically to evade gambling laws and restrictions, and that's still the primary purpose of gacha games today. they prey very much on the *same* kind of addiction that gambling causes, but because the rewards are "technically worthless", it's not gambling by japanese law.
effectively, it abuses the difference between literal value and perceived value. pulling gwynn is literally just some data on a digital account that cannot be sold in any way and cost nothing to provide, therefore it is literally worthless BUT you, the player, like goth warlock. therefore to you that pull has a perceived value.
it is kinda sorta. they make you spend so much money then when you need to shell out more they’re like gotcha! now give me even more money
Its destiny x genshin impact
With all the good and bad things that entails.
Imo I enjoy it as something to just chill with, playing a few gacha games already.
the thing i saw the most is the fact everyone complained about how "bungie" made this instead of adding it to destiny 2

@@Kostyahellstorm_IronLord the scythe is understandable. it's like that trailer for season of the haunted all over again, where we thought the scythe would be a heavy weapon.

Sorry on behalf of everyone that thought they could bring back Destiny in a meaningful way

It's a really well organized well thought out game wrapped in a Kevlar gacha package.
Is it weird that I'm turned off by it being a mobile game more so in terms of control than monetization/gacha mechanics? Like if it gets a PC port, I'll absolutely try it. I don't expect to get sucked in, gacha games really aren't my thing, but I'll check it out with an open mind.
But playing it on a small phone screen with either touch controls or a controller? Zero interest.
Not weird at all. I would be more interested if it looked like a more polished game (I know it's just alpha right now though). I hate touch controls and if I'm using a controller then I'd rather it just be on a console anyway. I know mobile gaming is massively popular, but I've always felt like games on mobile seem more like an afterthought compared to games on PC/consoles, and because of hardware limitations will never reach the same level.
Sounds cool! My main question is does the game require me to use some kind of currency just to play the different modes? That’s my biggest gripe with mobile games.
This will probably make a huge amount of money...I just wonder how much Bungie is going to get.
I am not a mobile gamer so I don’t know how much I will even care about this but I find the choice interesting to make the mobile game so similar to actual Destiny.
Like this doesn’t seem to be a “oh I have to wait 10 minutes for the bus let me play a round” kind of game. And if it’s not that and I actually need to sit down and invest significant time into this, why wouldn’t I just play Destiny on PC.
I'm really surprised at how much fun the game is. The tutorial is thorough, the gunplay is solid on controller, and the characters have some cool abilities. I'm not a fan of each character being limited on what weapons they can use, and I'm worried what the monetization will look like at full launch, but I'll definitely play it too see how that's handled.
Shifting Gates *needs* to come to Destiny proper. It's what Gambit should have been.
The irony of a D2 creator calling the need to play a playlist over and over again for a particular material 'monotonous' is hella amusing to me XD. Ahh yeah, that thing Destiny has forced you to do for 10 years straight, the horror.
But yeah, I wanted a D3 to 'pull me back in' so they could make a bunch of sweeping changes to make the game actually feel modern, but seems as the top comment has said 'the monkey paw curled' and we got this instead...at least the over the top systems look much improved, and the third person perspective capability makes a lot more sense for Destiny in my opinion. Wouldn't complain nearly as much about the horrible hitboxes if I could actually see them...
A mobile spinoff game having a set piece (when Destiny doesn’t have any) is crazy
Great video, as per usual... Except for the little fact that there was no Destiny Rising's Goth chick cosplay in it. WHERE GOTH MOMMY'S MILKERS, DATTO?!
So you're telling me that Destiny Rising, the non-canon gacha game that isn't even developed by Bungie, has more MMO elements than Destiny proper... Fuck.
Where is the raid guide? More videos with the music!!!
i won't be playing the game (i don't like any mobile games that aren't puzzles) but this looks impressive for what it is! i'm hoping the monetization is only like, normal gacha levels of predatory and not too awful so that people can enjoy this without going broke.
If I can’t play on my pc or console that’s a no go for me
I think im done with Destiny 2. Not because they did anything bad but because 10 years is a long time to spend on a game. I might just check out Destiny Rising tho…
Im Golden Rank 50… I’ve put quite a bit of time into it. It seems like you can play free to play pretty effectively.
There are really cool systems like weekly leaderboards for the fastest times in the endgame activities which dumps a TON of rewards on you and gives you a temporary title to show off: California #1
A while ago Cammycakes made the suggestion of creating a Destiny spinoff that was crucible focused and used a character system similar to what we are seeing in Destiny Rising, and frankly, now that we have seen it come together, I'm hopeful that the crucible community gets their version of this, too! I know a tighter balance won't shut them up, but it would be nice to have something other than Marathon to point them to when they ask for PvP-first design
We got destiny mobile before destiny 1 on PC (and Gta 6)
Yep from my experience from playing gacha games datto has definitely experienced the gacha game vibe, explaining everything sounds exactly similar as how other gacha game does its thing lol
btw dont expect netease to be as pushover as bungie is when it comes to anything to shorten playtime, ppl will complain about how long it takes for something to grind for and they will absolutely NOT give a fuck, they want those playtime hours for reasons
Iron Bar aka Iron Banner is available on weekends and so is SRL!!!
So, from what I have been told and from what I can tell through the gameplay;
Pros:
- It's definitely Destiny
- In some ways the graphics are between Destiny and Destiny 2, but there are some areas where it doesn't get up to Destiny's graphical level, but that is expected for a MOBILE game and therefore I would consider this graphical level a success.
- It looks like it will have a lot of the feel of Destiny, Tiger/BLAM engine quirks and all, which is actually really surprising and makes me want to know exactly which engine they are using; Either the Tiger engine was ported in such a way that it can exist on both iOS and Android OR this is a NetEase in-house engine that has been tweaked and carefully calibrated and set up to feel like Destiny and the Tiger Engine. EITHER OF THESE POSSIBILITIES ARE EXTREMELY IMPRESSIVE.
- It at least has controller support; I absolutely hate touchscreen controls, especially for something as fast-pace as an FPS.
- The technical success of this game makes me realize that a lot of PC/Console games that have controller support, with the right graphical settings, could run on mobile devices just fine. I would like to see that explored as the portability aspect is something I have desired on multiple occasions in the past.
Cons:
- After crap like what we saw in Battlefield 2042 and some other games, I have felt like tying abilities to specific "characters/heros" is getting tiring... Hero shooters exist and are their own thing. Leave that to TF2/Overwatch. Part of the appeal of Destiny was that YOUR character was the hero. YOUR character experienced and influenced the changing of the world. It was US, not some random arbitrary character. Although, I know WHY they did this, which leads to the next point...
- Gotcha. I hate Gotcha. I like knowing what I am working towards, I like getting definitive progress, I am not as big on leaving these things to chance. In this regard, Gotcha spits in my face. If I actually tried to wholeheartedly get into this game I could see myself extremely frustrated and with pretty much zero enjoyment.
- The limiting of weapon archetypes to certain characters; Considering how different people like the feel of different weapons, this is going to be rough. Not only will you have to go with a certain character to use certain weapons, you may not even have a character with the weapon archetype usage that you want. How do you get a character like that? Gotcha. We're right back to Gotcha. And even then there is no guarantee that there will be a character that uses the two weapon types you want. And don't even get me started if you want two specific weapon types AND the general play feel of a certain Guardian class...
I am seeing a LOT of good that should be commended and noticed, but also a LOT of bad that is so typical and scummy that I know I will never be able to fully appreciate the efforts that went in to making this game so very clearly Destiny.
When it comes out, if it is free to play I will probably download it and give it an initial shot, but then in all likelihood will never play it again afterwards. If there is any payment up front, then I will never be touching it as gotcha systems do not mesh well with me and I know I am going to hit a point where I don't enjoy it anymore and that point will hit surprisingly early on. I won't be putting money on a game that I know I will not like.
Didn't get a chance to play the alpha, but when it launches I'll give it a go. Seems like a neat enough experience to try, but it's probably not gonna replace D2 for me
I think some people are definitely trying to be harder on it even though it's doing a lot impressive things for a mobile game in its alpha.
Honestly, like I'm not really interested because it's a mobile game. Maybe if like Genshin it gets released to pc and console I'll play it. Regardless it's doing good things, and it isn't like it's Bungie either. Bungie have given the devs of this game permission to use the IP
Okay I recently started playing Diablo Immortal. I'm gonna try this out then.
ngl i thought people were joking about the 5 star mara sov then i saw datto pull a 4 star ikora. I am so conflicted between wanting nothing to do with this but also wanting everything to do with it.
If it's like the other big name gacha games (genshin, HSR, Wuthering Waves etc.) then you're not going to "need" to pull specific characters to complete any of the content but you'll be incentivised to get the latest character because the endgame content will have a bonus/buff that applys in a way that's almost specifically made to make the new character look insanely OP. Other characters will likely benefit from this buff but they will try to lure you in with content creators saying "this new character is OP and destroys endgame" type of videos.
For anyone who's going to get into destiny rising as their first ever gacha game, please just know that you should always keep in mind that FUN >>>> Meta. If you're someone that's always chasing the meta, you're going to end up in a situation where you disappoint yourself. Typically if you're pulling for waifu/fun over meta you're only missing out on around 3-4 summons (gacha pulls) per endgame rotation if at all (if destiny rising follows the same systems as genshin/HSR etc.)
Net Ease has the opportunity of a life time to do the funniest shit ever.
Make a Destiny game that surpasses Bungie's in some capacity. From the looks of it, they've definitly been reading through the lore and pick up all the different characters that people only know from the lore. Wonder if Dredgen Yor or Shin Malphur will be playable characters. Time will tell how cool this game ends up being.
If it wasn't mobile exclusive I would almost be tempted to try it out. One of the many things that drove me to uninstall D2 was lack of variety and fresh feeling content. It often felt like every time Bungie would add a "new game mode" it was basically just an existing game mode slightly tweaked.
Gacha aside, this puts Bungie to shame with how much fresh looking content and new ideas they developed while Bungie is over here laying people off during what should be their swan song.
Sadly, I will be partaking in this. I have a deployment later next year. Gotta get my destiny fix, for sure not bringing my pc to the Philippines 😭
Imagine if Bungie start using "Pinnacle Energy" in the regular game...
It looks like the kind of game i can sink into for a couple weeks on bluestacks and pop back to on occasion just as a fresh destiny ip experience. As for the gacha experience i run be the rule of how much worth im getting out of the game which is up to like £50 if im super invested to get some long term benefit items but could be nothing so its ultimately up to me how much the game is worth. Did the same with games like warframe
Question why do people always jump when they shoot a grenade launcher?
to be fair, how many of used the Companion app and kinda wished it was just a bit more.... why not
haven't played destiny in forever and come back to Genshin + Destiny + Gwent and a couple others like a Brigitte highlight intro thing from overwatch. What the actual hell am I looking at
to be honest i haven't played destiny for a while i got burned out after playing it since d1 first released all the way to d2 the witch queen. and seeing all the new stuff they added to d rising while still keeping the core gameplay the same kind of gets me really Interested. especially since I kind of switched to playing mainly mobile games especially on my PC. stuff like Genshin impact, honkai impact, zenless zone zero, and wuthering waves. I kind of got used to the whole gotcha gaming side. I would actually love to play a version of Destiny kind of like the games I mentioned. Take it real casual, It seems like fun I'm definitely going to play this one It releases.
PS. crossing my fingers they'll make a pc version. kind of feel like they have to since everyone that makes a mobile game also releases a pc port nowadays.
There are some things I want Bungie to take away from Rising (supers, abilities, actual gameplay stuff) but mostly I don't want them to touch
WAIT thrid person!!!!! lets gooooo
Wait Gacha? oh nooooo
Well, from what you said it's basically a destiny game injected with the textbook gacha formula. I'll probably play it if the monetisation is not too aggressive.
Next expansion should have no added weapons just quest and weapon upgrades. We have soooo many anyways I’d be ok with a story/ content update with little to almost no guns.
The cool thing about gotcha mechanics is the character they're going to add and it will be massive so besides the usual people that we can't even play in Destiny 2, there's a highly possible character that I expect to see and that's is more likely going to be in Destiny Rising.... SWEEPER BOT!!!!! Would love to see how he fights lol😂
Playing shooters without M&K is pretty bad imo, but one exception i found when trying out Call of Duty Mobile was that i could use my Apple Pencil to aim. Once i tweaked the sensitivity i was able to play it on my iPad pretty well with touch controls. But not all shooters let you do this. Most mobile games also do not give option to use M&K even though i have them available on both iPad and iPhone. It would also be nice to be able to use the Samsung Note's stylus to aim.
if these options are integrated into the gamei might actually actively play this. Controller/touch without a stylus though? Probably not.
