Exactly. Everyone complaining about lack of content that wants destiny classic back doesn't realize that we'd be splitting the already small team in half again. Each game would get one seasons worth of heavily monetized content per year.
Should they remaster the old Destiny 1 Collection that recently got a massive price drop? Hell yeah, and make it available on PC as well. 4k 60fps with increased FOV, but keep everything the same. Don't change any gameplay elements
As it stands right now, if anyone is trying to get into Destiny for story purposes they are 100% screwed. The OG D2 story is still in the vault, along with everything up to Shadowkeep and the story details in between from the seasons. It’s gonna be really disheartening to a lot of potential players when the only thing I can tell them is look at Byf’s videos up to now.
This. If I were at Bungie’s helm I would focus 1.) unvaulting story and content 2.) overhaul new light experience 3.) some sort of marketing to get the word out
Yeah popped back in to do the dungeons after a couple years. The story was all over the place and I was forced into multiple story missions when I launched the game that weren't connected. Like I feel that if I were to recommend the game, I would need to help them avoid the story because not only is the order of the story missions not clear, characters behave differently depending on where in the timeline we are.
@@willostrand6555 dude is far gone from being the cool lore guy. He's inlove with his own image calling himself "lore daddy" and making up entire lore bits that are in no way cannon and selling them as "factual" because his entire fanbase DO NOT look into lore themselves which is fine on it's own but it's created this blind following of a figure who ultimately is just being overly verbose and speculative because he's in love with his own voice. it was my favorite because of the mystical and wondrous nature of seeing someone with an exotic and being like “wtf? i’ve never seen that? where’d he get that?” and getting different exotics was a unique stamp on your character. i had the insurmountable skullfort as my first armor exotic and i had people all over me all the time asking me where i got it and that it looks so cool. THAT’s why Y1 was my favorite. different weapons and exotics felt exciting to just see on someone else. also another favorite thing of mine is the rarity of exotics. i could go a whole week of doing nightfall, and both raids on all 3 characters and not get an exotic. but when an exotic would drop? i’d lose my shit, didn’t matter if it was a universal remote or an ice breaker. i just loved the feeling of the new mysterious world where nobody knew anything at all
@henrytate857 that's really funny because I only started playing D1 after being well into Forsaken, and I enjoyed, and still enjoy D1 more than D2. Especially rise of iron and age of triumph is where I think these games peaked. I never quite got that same feeling like I had when doing Wrath for the first time. That really felt special in a way that D2 never managed to replicate.
As someone who has played consistently since the beta in 2014, I don't really see a need for this. What I would like to see is all the content from D1 and D2 available to play again, all in one client. Not even all the seasonal stuff, I just mean all the campaigns, all the planets. Mars, Venus, Dreadnought, Io, etc. The Red War campaign, the Taken King campaign. If we're going to bring back old stuff, let's put it in the context of the current game. I think the game /plays/ the best its ever played right now, and I wouldn't want to go back to inferior gameplay. But I would like to go back to having all the content available.
A complete Campaign Destiny 2 is all I've ever wanted to see coalesce. From Red War thru all of D2's annual campaigns. The DCV really hurt this game's cohesiveness. In a perfect world all seasonal content would be included as well, launchable from their respective destination settings as well as grouped into playlists (3-man activities, 6-man activities, etc), but just having the whole story and all destinations would be more than enough of a selling point.
@@dankerbell Yeah like before the classes have even be fully made so you can use all Titan, Warlock and Hunter shit as you mix and match with different armor weights as you fight your way through Fallen and investigate the arrival of these strange new chitanous aliens - ending with the Battle of Burning Lake
Oh I started the game on my own. Still found that knight and got my ass handed. One of my fondest memories of challenge cause I had just high enough level so it wasn’t immune, but still one shot - think being almost 50/100/whatever the value is under in nowadays content.
I mean problem with that is how differently the 2 play now. "Just porting D1 into D2" would simply not go well. It'd need significant changes to nearly everything
@@Nihlus233 They absolutely can, lol. How do we have Cosomo, VoG, Kings Fall, The Moon, etc. What do you even mean? Like OP said, if they're gonna spend resources, which either one would need to happen, then those resources should be spent on bringing the *REST* of D1 into D2 rather than recycling all of D1 separately and slapping a bigger price tag on it.
"Destiny Classic" is a weird idea when Destiny 1 literally still exists and can be played. I would rather there be a "Destiny Complete" version that has all the content of both games smashed into one, but that's obviously not gonna happen.
They could change the Legends tab into a Legacy tab that, slowly over time, contains the entirety of D1 split into sub-sections of Raids and Story. And slowly, add the rest of the DCV into it while keeping the main Map menu primarily for the current content
12:08 hot take we don’t get new mechanics because bungie thinks what im guessing is most of the community casuals are too not good at destiny to implement in content that is designed to be played casually. To this day I can’t get blue berries to CHARGE THE ORBS in the corrupted strike so we don’t need throw ( hyperbole) TWELVE balls at an enemy to break their shield.
Should they remaster D1? No Should they port it to PC? Yes and give it an FOV slider. Should they enable trials and fix the special ammo economy in PvP? Yes I don’t want it for nostalgia reasons I just straight up prefer large portions of that game especially taken king PvP / RoI pre special ammo changes.
@@fysy9989I don’t want them to put too much effort into developing it though tbh (if they r gonna focus on another destiny game it should be D3 not some classic edition) or potentially ruin any of D1s systems that make it good. I don’t trust them enough not to screw up something for major changes as someone who thinks D1 (except for PvP ammo economy) was left in a fantastic state just before D2 released. Ofc transmog would be nice ect but it took them what 6 yrs to do for D2 I can’t see big changes happening without way too many resources being diverted. Also a port of the game and some fixes for current gen consoles would be far less expensive to purchase as a consumer than a remaster (which idk what they would remaster most of D1s assets other than its lighting (which I think looks better in a lot of cases in D1 therefore don’t want changed) r the exact same quality.
5:29 Datto I believe they meant Kinetic Primary, because ofc Energy Primaries with keywords like Zaouli's Bane having Incandescent, and claiming Exotic Primaries as "Primaries are still good whatcha mean?" is not accounting for the non-exotic counterparts that fall short of their energy counterparts.
This is just what I assume is a vet still calling all kinetics primaries as shorthand since that's how it was in Destiny 1 (for the most part at least)
Ppl like d1 though. As someone who plays d1 every few months there are parts of d1 that are better imo Art style Armour Progression I liked how guns were important in d1 in d2 you can run all blue guns and solo a gm by just spamming slams on titan
@@DarkmondayllI dunno, there is something about the overall look of d1. I like d2 as well but there is definitely a difference. The same with the armor and how it was designed. For warlocks we got more of that woven fabric look to our armors, as opposed to the smooth latex look robes have now
@@Darkmondayll Witch Queen is when the raid armour looked like some garbage youd see by fashion designers in Paris in love with the smell of their own farts. Since D2s release the only grounded scifi armour has been made as Nostalgia bait from D1
I'd really like a Destiny 1 remastered, not because I miss the D1 content, but instead because I miss the feeling of Destiny 1 (and I don't think that's just nostalgia talking) Destiny 1 and Destiny 2 are *very* different games at this point. D2 is basically a full-on MMO with a major focus on abilities, builds and super chaotic gameplay, where as D1 is more of a shooter with some light RPG elements, and it's just way less complex overall. Don't get me wrong, I obviously love the power fantasy and buildcrafting in D2, but i also miss the simplicity and vibe (both in gameplay and art direction) of D1. Destiny 2 can almost be a bit TOO much at times imo. Sometimes I'd rather play an RPG-lite shooter over an MMO, so a D1 remaster sounds great to me. But just a PC port would be fine too.
We really don't need a remaster. Add systems like cross save, and release D1 on PC with modern Gen texture and frame rate updates across all current gen platforms. It would accomplish the same thing.
I want Bungie to put more memorable moments into their exotic quests. I still remember D1 exotic Khovostov quest where we got a heart to heart with Ghost, Touch of Malice quest was a great way to boost Eris's Hive Magic proficiency in the player's eyes and give an incentive to play the raid, all of the exotic swords were memorable in part because you had to collect the powerful components required to build them but also in part because of the infamous legendary material grind. Iron Gjallarhorn/Gjallarhorn rebuilt was a quest where you learned about the lore behind the weapon. Now D2 exotic quests are rather forgettable with most of them being "Go to point A, kill some guys, go to NPC to talk, go to point B to kill more guys, talk to NPC again, go do mission/strike, talk to NPC and claim gun"
Did not die to counterfeit once in my Lightblade GM run while running the usual consecration build. Definitely think the outrage about it was overblown. The main issue is 100% it was a test for the ‘choose your own modifier’ approach that seems to be coming with Apollo.
Consecration has a far greater range than something like combination blow, frenzied blade, or lightning surge though, and im pretty sure the ignitions can even knock the bricks away from you. I dont disagree that some people were definitely blowing it out of proportion and just playing poorly, dying to it even without melees but i dont feel consecration is a good way to scale the modifier
Bungie NEEDS to do double or triple perk columns... 1. It'll save on vault space until we get unlimited vault space. 2. It will eliminate the need for crafted weapons so we can literally just change on the fly before we start certain activities.
That guy that wanted more complex weapon quests: My brother in the Traveler, Khvostov is too much for me these days, and I was a Hunter grinding out void kills in Crucible for Thorn in D1… before we got the Nightstalker subclass.
I think that says more about your attitude towards the state of the game than it does the perceived complexity of weapon quests as the Khvostov Quest was essentially just a collect-a-thon.
The first point is correct. Crafted weapons were easier to get and better, which is a terrible idea. If they're easier to get, they shouldn't be as good.
I disagree on the modifiers one. A modifier to make melee worse isn't necessary because there are already reasons in game to be slow and use caution with melee. You generally take more damage when doing this as you're closer to enemies, bigger enemies do a generally unavoidable aoe stomp, with some bosses now even doing fire stomps that does absurd damage, explosive enemies like cursed thrall and screebs already exist, ~~melee hitreg is still pisspoor at times~~, etc. Adding yet another way to kill melee builds feels awful.
What melee build are you running? I have yet to see a titan with inmost synthos and consecration die to anything ranged melee with ignitions that does more damage then some supers?
The Bungie of today isn’t even capable of allowing people to play entire paid-for expansions that released only a few year ago. How could they possibly give the entirety of D1 the remaster it deserves?
500% a Destiny 1 Remake would be incredible. I stopped playing D2 a little over a year into its release because it was nothing like D1. I get it's a good game now, but it is still nothing even remotely similar to D1 and just has way to much content for anyone not willing to sit in front of a screen 4+ hours every day 😂 They went from an open world fps game with rpg elements to a full blown fps mmo and that just ain't my thing lol
Only things from Destiny 1 players want is, Wrath of the Machine, D1 armor/cosmetics, the missing raid weapons, pvp maps and game modes, D1 strikes (updated for how strong we are now). Interest in Destiny is low now since the big bad is dead, we have so much stuff now the experience is now stale, loot incentive is important but unless the experience of getting that loot is fun most are not pushed to jump on anymore for marginally better loot. A fresh start is needed but we know Destiny vanilla launches are never good.
-if bungie doesn't at least make it a little more difficult to grind for red borders, they should take away the enhancement aspect for perks. Forces you to play endgame. Haven't touched SE since I got the exotic and all the red borders. -I think needing to grind for the smg and crafting tonics is the only reason I'm even continuing to play. -Bungie struggles with D2, fuck no they shouldn't come out with a D Classic -As someone who died a mega fuckton to counterfeit at first. I think it should've been left alone. I think it helped me play things a little better. Modifiers are meant to make things more difficult -they definitely need to up the other subclasses.
Transcendence is just so fun though, an extra way to stay alive, refund abilities, squeeze out some extra damage, use a unique grenade. The other subclasses just feel a bit empty without it. I would prefer if they added more grenade to the darkness subclasses, because they are missing a lot of straight up damage grenades that the light subclasses have. I could also see them adding some sort of pseudo-transcendence for the normal subclasses, where it is built by dealing damage matching your subclass and provides the same DR, ability regen, and extra weapon damage that transcendence does but without the custom grenade.
No to turning off supers in PVP because I imagine people will hear the super activation and hide and the player who activated it will realize they're hiding and cancel it. If you activate the super then you have made the decision that you will use it fully to obliterate a room, it's not the other players fault that they want to survive and hide and reward you to cancel it and save some energy.
If we get wraith if the machine, some more of the older fan favourite D1 weapons, and the age of triumph raid armour added to destiny 2 I think we’ll be fine. Making a whole new game that’s a destiny 1 remaster classic seems to be a lot more work than just adding the few fun things left in destiny 1 to destiny 2
I think the way Bungo could’ve done weapon crafting in a better way is to have enhanced traits on ONLY the random dropped weapons. So you can go and craft your god roll and if you are happy enough, great, you’re done. But if you want that “JUICER M’GOOSER GOD ROLL” then you still have to grind for that 5/5 to drop, then you can enhance the traits for the little cost that it currently takes, or hell maybe even up the cost and make the enhanced versions a little more nutty
Weak fix I thought of for crafting weapons Crafting the weapon is unlocked immediately from the 1st red border you get of that weapon, but instead of the usual level up and select the perks you want from the preset menu, you'll unlock the other barrels/mags/perks through getting more red borders Basically, when you get a red border, the perks on that red border will get unlocked for that weapon's crafting menu In theory you can still get the god roll you want or pretty stinking close, but now there's a smidgeon of rng thrown in as to how many red borders you'll need to get all the perks you want unlocked so you can go make your 5/5 roll More than anything it makes the crafting system more like a pity net instead of a flat guarantee (srry in advance if my wording is stinky)
I don't think that'll change much, just shorten the grind for the crafted weapon. Like I played Echos enough to get all the available Act 1 guns in about a week and a half. But I didn't find a personal god roll before that.
Also if you think about it, before nerf counterfeit in GMs basically made every melee enemy into a potential exploder shank, and there are a lot of melee enemies that are better at closing the gap, and/or are more plentiful than said exploder shanks, and really the only "playstyle change" I see can be done for that is to run a scout rifle or similar "plink plonk from across the map" type of build, which has already been *done to death* in GMs as is...
Honestly, no. Nostalgia aside, D2 is a better game in almost everything from content to QoL. And the best things about the game are already in D2. It will only be a waste of Time and Resources right now considering the current state of the franchise.
I just wish Bungie gave titans subclass identity based class abilities. Couple things comes to mind directly such as giving void subclass barricade same ability as unbreakable, Solar titan baricade can explode up taking enough damage to create random healing bubbles in the area where you can run and grab those while arc titan barricade can jolt anything that comes near it. I dont think this is a hard implementation considering they are already assests in the game so that we actually have another playstyle rather than just punch stuff.
No. Destiny 1 was an artifact of it's time, I'd rather see Destiny 2's cut/trimmed content be restored in some form first and then maybe a slow porting of Destiny 1 content into Destiny 2. What Destiny *really* needs is change to it's content licensing, because having access to *all* content (even only on a single platform) in D2 requires buying a dizzying mess of SKUs. When someone (very rarely) asks me about starting Destiny I literally have no clue how to tell them to start. Early in Lightfall I had a friend start and I literally had to start a new account just to see what the hell was going on for new players.
When it comes to hot swapping, I think would be fine if load outs wasn't a thing. Inventory management is a higher level skill that you see in other games, its just loadout takes the skill out of it because it's just open your menu, press a button and a click. Like watch a Chasethebro video where he invades other people in Elden Ring and you can see him rapidly swap weapons to fit the scenario hes in or armour pieces to get better healing. That is a higher tier of gameplay that the normal person can't do but if Fromsoft added something similar to loadouts to Elden Ring then anyone would be able to do it.
Here’s some real hot take: Crafting should only allow you to change barrel, mag, and masterwork. Weapon perks should always be rng with enhanced perks only coming from enhancing weapons. People unwilling to engage with the game should not have powerful gear. Bungie should focus on improving the grind instead of giving ways to circumvent it. Content droughts are good as it allows time for people to catch up without missing out on stuff and take breaks without missing temporary things.
I’d say: Yes. Especially since they can adapt the worlds in a new engine, new UI from D2, keeping the same weapons, keeping the d2 quality of life and also making the locations more diverse in terms of what activities you can find, do and what secrets you could find. It can really be improved upon with the content that was cut and now can be adapted for a complete overhaul of the experience we should have received in 2014.
To speak to the loadout swapping comment I actually do think its a huge negative on the mid level raiders who like to try throwing their hat in the ring to complete a raid/dungeon on contest. My friends and I are decent competent raiders but bungie has to develop contest modes around the people who are able and willing to play the menu minigame as you call it to min max an extra 5% damage per phase meaning the bosses need to be stronger to take that as a result. This means that players who probably could beat a raid normally on contest in the past with a couple meta builds have to contend with it being harder than usual simply due to the fact that they aren't able to do those loadout swaps for the extra damage and can't swap between each class on a whim with 30 different min maxed loadouts.
A big problem I have is- Why can I not enhance a craft-able weapon? If I get a god roll of a weapon that is craft-able I should not have to get the pattern just to get the same gun I have but with enhanced perks. Crafting should be RNG protection, not mandatory.
No. As a player who started with D2 and has seen gameplay of D1, it looks awful. I truly believe the only people who think D1 was better or they miss it was because of nostalgia. D2 is just better. Full stop.
It’s pure nostalgia, D2 is better in almost every way and has way more content than D1. If they really cared they’d just boot up D1 on their Xbox and jump back in.
@@flynnryder6113Thing about D1 is that once you buy it, you have it forever. In D2, you never know when Bungie is going to delete the content you've paid for. I preordered the digital deluxe edition of D2 and where's all of the content I paid for? Gone 😃
i think the main problem with primaries in endgame content is that most every primary that's not exotic, an smg or a hand cannon is kinda underwhelming at best and is only ever used for champion stunning when it's on the artifact... legendary HC's were in that category too for a while but that buff they got really brought them into relevancy alongside smg's and gave them their own niche to fill.
Crafting included enhanced perks as a core part of the system. It would not be the same without it. For now, I think Bungie found an okay solution that makes endgame players happy. Raid adepts can be enhanced and have multiple perks. Adept weapons have always been more of a flex anyway, so I am fine with that. Let normal people craft, because not everyone is grinding raids for months. It is unfortunate how anti-crafting you are, Datto. Some people play the game to get weapons. Other people get weapons to *go play other parts of the game*. We can have both crowds satisfied: most weapons that come out in a year are crafted anyway. You guys are destroying Joe Blackburn's legacy by walking back everything he did to make the game more appealing to casual players and players who cannot or do not want to grind the game like a second job.
There's just no point. If they wanna push resources to bringing the D1/TTK, campaign, Venus/Dreadnought, ect sure. But there's no reason to really play D1, other than just... wanting to play D1. D2 does everything better, its just a case of "oh I vibe with this" But making a standalone D1 remaster is just pointless, it's not where people have invested money, and the amount of work required is better put towards new D2 content, or D3
Modifiers in games typically fall into the categories of either being insignificant or making some part of the gameplay loop worse. Blackout is an example of the former whereas Grounded is an example of the latter. Most people don't even notice when Blackout is on whereas Grounded adds cheap one-shots when forced to go aerial. Modifiers can provide nuance when they have interesting effects that encourage specific playstyles, but how much nuance does arbitrarily making players take more damage when they're not on the ground add? Next to nothing, it only feels cheap. Counterfeit does not provide nuance to the gameplay of Destiny, all it does is consolidate the already popular playstyles while making the struggling ones even worse. Defaulting to more difficulty = good is not particularly insightful. You have to consider if the difficulty added makes the game more enjoyable rather than just adding a degree or feeling of randomness to it. Banes I do find bring some degree of nuance to gameplay as they change how you play in a way that is interesting and doesn't just feel cheap and arbitrary. Though I find it mostly just ends up being a case of "kill the thing with a bane first" due to their current implementation. Tormentors are a perfect example of making the game more difficulty and nuanced in a enjoyable way that doesn't feel cheap. Modifiers do have the advantage of being easy to implement, and are not necessarily always bad, but it typically isn't considered if the change they bring is enjoyable. Most often they are just shoehorned to fulfill the task of adding replayability to a game. I felt this the most with Helldivers 2 and its modifiers where most didn't change how you play the game in any way, except the one that reduced the amount of stratagems you can bring. All it ended up doing was forcing meta picks and ironically reducing the amount of replayability. All this is not to say modifiers are necessarily bad, but without deep consideration as to how they impact gameplay, they most likely will be.
My hot take is, adding effective power level caps made grinding the game worthless. They've eliminated all feeling of growth and power in the game by artificially making you weaker. You should feel stronger if your power level is 2024 in a 1945 mission. Why do I need to be penalized for playing the game?
I would want to redesign the entire crafting system! every perk is "unlockable" but you have to level up the gun (no buying levels anymore thus a grind again). You can freely swap between the perks once they are unlocked and have been bought/crafted. If you want to enhance a perk, you have to complete a challenge using the weapon, like you are becoming more familiar with the gun!
You forgot to mention that this'll probably take them 8-10 years to do which means Destiny as a franchise will be dead for a decade (unless Rising really pops off).
I would wish for this too but like, the amount of development resources and time that would take to convert and optimise everything would be insane... Unless they somehow get very very lucky I doubt this will ever happen.
If they were to curate specific experiences, locations, weapons etc without bringing all of it back (cause let's be real, we don't need most of it) then that might make it easier. But still quite a huge task.
4:12 When I was in middle school, every day after school I would come home and explore the dreadnaught. I found soooo many of those fragments on my own over the course of months of just wandering and screwing around. Thats where my nostalgia lies, and I don't think that will ever come back because of how I am now (busy busy, more willing to look up guides)
Weapon crafting is the best thing in destiny 2, I don't care for grinding for time locked content to get a decent role. Uncraftable weapons eats vault space, it lowers the amount of weapons I can even afford to care about, it's part of a larger issue for sure and weapon crafting was the *perfect* solution to help mediate the problem or vault space, time dedicated to grinding content people didn't want to. Hell the weapons it makes sense to let be craftable ARE the timelocked FOMO weapons like seasonal weapons so the fact Bungie opted OUT of making Revenant weapons crafted is crazy to me. Also I'm entirely of the opinion that RNG is one of the worst things in gaming, luck mechanics that could actually lock you out of a role forever in the worst case scenario sucks, crafting eliminating that entirely makes it personally the single best thing D2 ever added.
I think specifically on the hotswapping thing, it should only prevent swapping loadouts IN COMBAT. Or introducing locked loadouts into more activities that have them in mind. I think that could be a good thing for the game
“Destiny 2: Vaulted Edition” and it is only the content stored in the DCV. Funnily enough it’ll probably have more to do than the regular game at this point
With the recent super changes, I did my first ever solo GM 1st try and the gameplay was a very engaging Glacial Quake > Transcendence > Glacial Quake > Transcendence > ...
In regards to the Counterfeit situation, Datto mentions it is a way of punishing certain playstyles (e.g. melee / finishers) and is likely designed to make these players change up a bit / be more cautious. However, my counter argument to that is the artifact mods. A good portion of them this season are around melee / finishers, suggesting they are encouraging this playstyle but will punish you at the same time. I don't know where I land on the nerfs to counterfeit as I don't tend to play an up-close melee / finisher build. However, I find it frustrating when the few times I do use melee it basically turns a random enemy into a surprise screeb. I personally don't find it challenging, just frustrating.
Can we stop with remake of everything that was good before? Nostalgia is strong with gamers, but it does not make great games. I'm more happy with Bungie focusing on NEW stuff that can be great than old stuff that I have a good memory of.
A remake like The Last of Us Part 1 I'd agree is a complete cash grab. Something like the Crash Bandicoot trillogy though? Games that are only available on a console that stopped being made over 20 years ago, the games itself stopped being produced over 20 years ago, and Sony making no attempt at preserving them on current platforms? Now those kinds of games deserve remakes, otherwise nobody will ever get to play them again/experience them for the first time
@@jonahbrown5669 Crash bandicoot is a true classic indeed, but was there really anything new added to the game? For 50$? I feel like it's a cash grab as well.. I agree some games deserve to not be forgotten, but I would prefer for devs to focus on the new true classic that is yet to come instead of revisiting the past
I don't know what they "should" do, but what I WANT them to do is make something like a Destiny Collector's Edition where Destiny and Destiny 2 are all packaged together in the same game and you get to relive the campaign from start to finish all the way through every step of the way (without getting to skip ahead to the next campaign until you've finished the previous one) with a warning that if you start the next campaign, access to certain features and areas from the previous campaign will no longer be available. These features being a character usually being in a certain spot helping you with whatever they were helping you with if in the next campaign they've moved on and are now doing something else entirely (or have died). And no sunsetting of weapons or areas. Will this be massive? Yes. And when the shift from Destiny to Destiny 2 happens in this hypothetical DCE whatever original cut scene we saw way back when Destiny 2 launched that explained why we're no longer in the original tower....I want to see that too. And I want all of this back story and information to be easily accessible in some kind of an archive searchable by topics.
Guess who isn't grinding episode two weapons now that Bungie listened to streamers and removed crafting? That's right, Datto and all other streamers. Really gets the noggin joggin'.
For the hotswapping bit, one of my favourite dps strats I've made for myself is in crota, it's to stareater gathering storm and then swap to Radiant dance machines to dump 4th horseman. It's fun lol
I think the elaborate/difficult quests for weapons take.... I agree in principle, but I think that those quests require Bungie to release larger meatier content drops than they are currently able to release. I think those quests worked when they did because there was SO MUCH other stuff to do. If those quests are the main thing to do, or if they comprise more than 1% of the total content on offer... then people start to get really grumpy really quickly. Alternatively, they would need to release that kind of content for free so that paid players don't feel like they're paying for stuff they can't do. But something I think the game could absolutely do better is to find a way to tier out rewards so that players have aspirational goals to chase
Commenting before the video: There's a shrinking list of meaningful content that is available exclusively in Destiny 1 - Venus, Mars, the Dreadnaught, Plaguelands, Campaigns, Wrath of the Machine, and a dwindling list of weapons (IMO if they brought back the Ice Breaker in a healthy state the way it is today, no weapon is functionally off the table for a D2 variant). And who knows if the Episode content (noting specifically the Prison of Elders and teased Dreadnaught return) will be staying in the new era of Destiny. I may be speaking for a smaller group of people than I think but having recently reset one of my D1 characters to replay the game, I think a lot of people miss the sense of progression, starting from nothing and getting that first elemental weapon (the first special ammo weapons you got were kinetic), that first green or blue or purple and even Exotic drop. The only thing I think would be worthwhile for a Destiny Classic would be 60 fps and the port to PC. Beyond that, I think you would see a lot of disagreement on what should be modernized and what should be kept as is (do we add mantling? Do we add class abilities? Do we keep loadouts as Kinetic/Primary + Energy/Special + Heavy, or do we change them to the modern Kinetic + Energy + Heavy? Do we keep Raids the same? Do we make the Elemental Primary weapons from Raids Legendary, or Exotic like they were in Year 3?). And that is not to mention the workload that would strain a company that has already faced two rounds of layoffs - the best hope from a feasibility standpoint is a NetEase-like situation where a third party pays a huge lump sum to Bungie for the rights to do it - and how hands on would Bungie be in this process?
About Destiny 1 - remaster and Destiny Classic, would be very nice if its contains also the vaulted D2 missions or why not seasons. Ok, we had some not-so-good seasons, but would be nice to at least see/play all these key moments from D1/D2 history. Also, if Bungie open source Destiny 1, probably the community would remaster it in a few months. This would be crazy though
Since I joined Destiny during D2, I was kind of waiting for a price drop on D1 collection. Ended up buying it this week just to go thru the expansions. Can't wait to do the SIVA expansion
The mechanics thing is so real. I loved Final Shape but haven’t hardly touched the game since I finished because after playing so much Destiny for a decade I’m just burnt out on it. Actually seeing some of what Destiny Rising is doing differently (minus the gotcha stuff) seems refreshing in retrospect, if Destiny Rising has success Bungie could maybe take a couple lessons from it
I don't think they should do a Destiny Classic server, but I do think they should integrate all the old content and just call the game Destiny. Combine the Timeline and Legacy menus, let people play every campaign, and boil down each season's content to its core story & missions. If it's a file size issue, either rotate through old seasons progressively, background delete cutscenes after they've been played, and/or let people install and uninstall specific DLC one at a time.
I'mma be real: we're never going to get that high fantasy with future tech feeling Destiny was bleeding in it's early days before and just after it's release, even if it really shone through in a lot of it's high moments, and that's why I'm left so wanting whenever I think of Destiny in general. I don't think a simple "give us back the things we used to have" will do a good job of recapturing that. We've come too far to sidestep so many years of narrative fumbles so easily. That's where the magic has always been for me. The context of the game elevating the handful of simple things into a sum magnitudes greater than all it's parts. I can STILL go back to the Dreaming City and feel a bit of that trickle down my spine, even though by now I've seen all it has to offer gameplay-wise. I REALLY felt that Arthurian influence guiding the writer's hand when I picked up Ergo Sum after knowing it's image for years. It's a large reason I tried to limit myself to the highs I could almost always bank on: MSQ's, Raids, dungeons. Content that reinforced the feeling that the universe was so much larger than it actually was, so much larger than it really allowed itself to be. I'm a patient gamer; I can be satisfied with the small sips of meaningful worldbuilding and story that come my way even when the mechanics of it's surrounding gameplay don't really change all that much (hell, I've played Warframe for years, I've been trained to expect that). But when that context falls so far behind in quality that I'm left wondering if the people in charge even actually care about their child the same way I do, It's much less painful to let all those feelings just fade away. Better than letting all these new things I don't like ruin those memories if things I did.
Datto you said it in your Thoughts Going Into 2021 video(I would love a retrospective on that video, it still holds up), "innovation in Destiny cannot just be more Destiny", something people just eventually tolerate going through the motions and the needle doesn't move doesn't work for any long haul. Sure 10 years from launch of the series we can acknowledge fully Destiny always was going to have some form of limitations especially riding on the old decrepit skeleton of the engine it exists on, BUT we've been hard stuck on the threshold of bigger potential basically indefinitely. Not saying the game hasn't gotten better but with the amount of outstanding basic QOL stuff still not fixed or addressed, it feels like we'll just continue to limp on with minor tweaks at best. Hyping up little tweaks is not innovation and nothing's final til it's in the game, but the teasings of Frontiers has me ungodly cautious and I think it'll really be another cause for people to check out further. Nobody wants to pay the same price for less content.
the dude that said destiny's game modes are repetitive is spot on. it largely feels that ever new expansion is just the same expansion but with a slightly different skin. even the story dialog on a week to week basis is just "good work on killing those *whatever enemy we're fighting this time*, but now i need you to go do that again so we can charge the *insert macguffin* " im SURE its hard to keep coming up with new cool shit but i feel like ive been loosely playing the same shit for years with the VERY occasional mix up
All that is needed is to finish undoing the DCV, since TFS already started the process by undoing weapon sunsetting, and reprising WotM and porting all of the D1 campaigns/strikes.
The only thing I want is for some other company to make D1 playable on PC at 60 frames. That’s all that needs to happen. The game will probably be gorgeous as is at 60 frames.
I think Counterfeit is fine in Legend+ content (or whatever they're calling it now) but not in Vanguard Ops/heroic NFs (especially Vanguard Ops), since it's geared towards newer players that likely won't know what modifiers even are. It was also not recognizable during gameplay that ammo bricks are what's blowing up - that should also be more obvious.
I'm playing Destiny 1 right now. You can too. It's like $20 now. Honestly one of the reasons that D1 is good 10 years from its launch is because there's only DLCs and not any seasons that are no longer playable. If they tried to remaster it, they would add a lot of stuff that would just make it D2 s version of D1. Which is not what we want. What we want is D1 with D2's QOL updates and maybe a touch of modern graphics but keep the grim / obscure aesthetics! If that was the case go ahead. But as you say. Right now that is basically a fantasy. They have bigger problems right now. If they wanted to do something they could add a few campaign missions from D1, TTK and RoI as well as the Red War for history context, a few weapons and armor sets that have a classic aesthetic / feel. Like the ROI fire armor sets. Definitely get WoTM and there you go. D1 nostalgia profit.
Much of D1 is already in D2. But I don’t think it’s a bad idea to remaster D1. If it’s done right. If we think about it there is a way for this to make sense and be good. D1 Vanila, Dark Below, TTK, and Rise of Iron can all fit in the episodic format. Something along the lines of; *this year we will have D1 Vanila + 2 new episodes*.
16:00 I've never gotten a raid seal for this exact reason. It's really hard to do a flawlessly raid (obviously) but now with it not being a requirement, I don't feel the desire to even get them now because it's so much easier.
While it would hurt to lose what we already have, restricting enhanced perks to random rolls could be an idea that would help alleviate the problems of weapons crafting. Those who would benefit from the extra few stat points and enhanced benefits of enhanced perks are most likely also those who are willing to put the time into getting that randomly dropped god roll. You can obtain the crafted one after some farming and get a 95% god roll, but if you’re willing to really go for it you should be rewarded with those enhanced perks.

Destiny 2 classic. Let’s also monkey paw it, we get all vaulted content like Scourge back. But, the QoL of the game is the same as launch.
Double primary scourge of the past with shotty in the heavy slot. 5-7 business days to complete DPS.
I'd be fine with this if it meant I could replay Red War
@@DesignatedHealertrench barrell acrius could go hard against Insurrection Prime
I’d be perfectly fine if they just create a separate Destiny 2: Shadowkeep server so we can play all the pre-vault content.
This is how they do it with wow and overwatch. I don't think people realize these 'classics' are all straight up old builds of the game copy pasted
FUCK NO. They can barely add new content to Destiny 2 what makes people think they can make d1/2 feel fresh and new?
Exactly. Everyone complaining about lack of content that wants destiny classic back doesn't realize that we'd be splitting the already small team in half again. Each game would get one seasons worth of heavily monetized content per year.
Thank you
True.
Should they remaster the old Destiny 1 Collection that recently got a massive price drop? Hell yeah, and make it available on PC as well.
4k 60fps with increased FOV, but keep everything the same. Don't change any gameplay elements
@ people will get bored of it fast because there will be nothing new added
I feel bad for them having to listen to Byf
@@YaBoiPaladin I like byf :( but would be a horrible way to be introduced to a game

The people who think year 1 of destiny 1 was better than what we’ve been getting needs to take off their nostalgia glasses
That's honestly the only year of Destiny 1 I was a part of and it wasn't great 😂
Year 3 Destiny 1 was the best time in the franchise though
it was my favorite because of the mystical and wondrous nature of seeing someone with an exotic and being like “wtf? i’ve never seen that? where’d he get that?” and getting different exotics was a unique stamp on your character. i had the insurmountable skullfort as my first armor exotic and i had people all over me all the time asking me where i got it and that it looks so cool. THAT’s why Y1 was my favorite. different weapons and exotics felt exciting to just see on someone else. also another favorite thing of mine is the rarity of exotics. i could go a whole week of doing nightfall, and both raids on all 3 characters and not get an exotic. but when an exotic would drop? i’d lose my shit, didn’t matter if it was a universal remote or an ice breaker. i just loved the feeling of the new mysterious world where nobody knew anything at all
@@tomekk.1889also nostalgia. If you have the game as it is now to yourself back in 2016/17, you’d think it’s way better than d1 y3
Wouldn't that take up to much storage

A complete Campaign Destiny 2 is all I've ever wanted to see coalesce. From Red War thru all of D2's annual campaigns. The DCV really hurt this game's cohesiveness.
In a perfect world all seasonal content would be included as well, launchable from their respective destination settings as well as grouped into playlists (3-man activities, 6-man activities, etc), but just having the whole story and all destinations would be more than enough of a selling point.

@@Nihlus233 They absolutely can, lol. How do we have Cosomo, VoG, Kings Fall, The Moon, etc. What do you even mean? "Destiny Classic" is a weird idea when Destiny 1 literally still exists and can be played. I would rather there be a "Destiny Complete" version that has all the content of both games smashed into one, but that's obviously not gonna happen.
Well tbf, you can't play it on PC and you're locked to 30fps on console
It's 30fps and not on pc
God a guy can dream though.
"Destiny 1 still exists!!!" Not for PC and not anything above 30 fps.
No
Should they port it to PC? Yes and give it an FOV slider.
Should they enable trials and fix the special ammo economy in PvP? Yes
I don’t want it for nostalgia reasons I just straight up prefer large portions of that game especially taken king PvP / RoI pre special ammo changes.
D1 with quality of life updates of D2 would be crazy
@@fysy9989I don’t want them to put too much effort into developing it though tbh (if they r gonna focus on another destiny game it should be D3 not some classic edition) or potentially ruin any of D1s systems that make it good.

I'd really like a Destiny 1 remastered, not because I miss the D1 content, but instead because I miss the feeling of Destiny 1 (and I don't think that's just nostalgia talking)
Destiny 1 and Destiny 2 are *very* different games at this point.
I agree with this, give it 60 fps, unlimited sprint, FOV slider, and the ability to clamber ledges.
That guy that wanted more complex weapon quests:
My brother in the Traveler, Khvostov is too much for me these days, and I was a Hunter grinding out void kills in Crucible for Thorn in D1… before we got the Nightstalker subclass.
Only if they acknowledge Siva's existence again and thats still a maybe.
500% a Destiny 1 Remake would be incredible. I stopped playing D2 a little over a year into its release because it was nothing like D1.
I get it's a good game now, but it is still nothing even remotely similar to D1 and just has way to much content for anyone not willing to sit in front of a screen 4+ hours every day 😂
They went from an open world fps game with rpg elements to a full blown fps mmo and that just ain't my thing lol
-Bungie struggles with D2, fuck no they shouldn't come out with a D Classic
-As someone who died a mega fuckton to counterfeit at first. I think it should've been left alone. I think it helped me play things a little better. Modifiers are meant to make things more difficult
-they definitely need to up the other subclasses.
Cant stop thinking about "forgot the echo last time" and how on point it truly was. Chefs kiss
I saw this take somewhere else and had the same though. You should be punished for popping a bad super.
I used to be in favor of a Destiny Classic but no I am opposed to it. Since we lost all those devs I think they should just focus on D2 (and Marathon)
Weak fix I thought of for crafting weapons
Crafting the weapon is unlocked immediately from the 1st red border you get of that weapon, but instead of the usual level up and select the perks you want from the preset menu, you'll unlock the other barrels/mags/perks through getting more red borders
Basically, when you get a red border, the perks on that red border will get unlocked for that weapon's crafting menu
In theory you can still get the god roll you want or pretty stinking close, but now there's a smidgeon of rng thrown in as to how many red borders you'll need to get all the perks you want unlocked so you can go make your 5/5 roll
More than anything it makes the crafting system more like a pity net instead of a flat guarantee
(srry in advance if my wording is stinky)
So basically how the crafted exotics work, with red borders equivalent to catalysts?
This.
Tbh I would want them to do a next gen upgrade, 60fps and all as well as a pc port.
@@degenerativewalnut9079 + an FoV slider, trials renabled and the taken king special ammo system. That’s it.
The production quality goes hard, and also yeah we don’t need classic Destiny, keep on all hands on the current deck
If they really cared they’d just boot up D1 on their Xbox and jump back in.
personally d1 looks better aesthetically at least.
@@flynnryder6113Thing about D1 is that once you buy it, you have it forever. In D2, you never know when Bungie is going to delete the content you've paid for. I preordered the digital deluxe edition of D2 and where's all of the content I paid for? Gone 😃
There's also a start middle and end in D1, making it feel like a complete package.
It is entirely impossible to start D2 and get the full experience.
Vibes and feel wise D1 is better, also og Striker is chefs kiss
i think the main problem with primaries in endgame content is that most every primary that's not exotic, an smg or a hand cannon is kinda underwhelming at best and is only ever used for champion stunning when it's on the artifact...
legendary HC's were in that category too for a while but that buff they got really brought them into relevancy alongside smg's and gave them their own niche to fill.
You guys are destroying Joe Blackburn's legacy by walking back everything he did to make the game more appealing to casual players and players who cannot or do not want to grind the game like a second job.
ngl dis new segment is kinda low-key poggers litty af. humorous, distinguished, demure, & very caring might i even dare say. str8 cooking wit dis vid!!!
There's just no point.
If they wanna push resources to bringing the D1/TTK, campaign, Venus/Dreadnought, ect sure.
But there's no reason to really play D1, other than just... wanting to play D1. D2 does everything better, its just a case of "oh I vibe with this"
But making a standalone D1 remaster is just pointless, it's not where people have invested money, and the amount of work required is better put towards new D2 content, or D3
If you want a start to finish experience, then D1 is the best Destiny experience there is. There is no start OR finish in D2.
I think they should make a "Destiny 3" with a new engine and then port all the content from D1 and D2 into it for a complete experience.
That’s not happening they have already expressed there is no destiny 3 in any process at least for the next 2 years
for real dude. Just get a totally new engine and then simply port the last ten years of content into it. It’s so mind-numbingly simple and easy!
Might be the only way we get SLR back.
players are looking for that feeling we all got when we first played d1. Not the game itself
“Destiny 2: Vaulted Edition” and it is only the content stored in the DCV. Funnily enough it’ll probably have more to do than the regular game at this point
Factually incorrect
With the recent super changes, I did my first ever solo GM 1st try and the gameplay was a very engaging Glacial Quake > Transcendence > Glacial Quake > Transcendence > ...
They just need to port Destiny 1 to PC with zero gameplay changes and that’s it
Would be funny if they make a Destiny Classic, then 5 years after that make a Destiny Classic Classic like WoW
Love that you took the questions from Bluesky
Yes. I’d love to play D1 on PC
Guess who isn't grinding episode two weapons now that Bungie listened to streamers and removed crafting? That's right, Datto and all other streamers. Really gets the noggin joggin'.
Yes
No
I don't want a destiny 1 remake kr remaster or anything like that but being able to play it on PC would be nice. Would love if bungie ported it over
Love this type of video buddy, more of these please! We all (most of us) really value your opinion on all parts of this franchise. Cheers
Rip Fantano's video ideas at every opportunity. It's so funny and you do it
so well
Sony owns Nixxes who recently started remaking games and is most known for porting PS games to PC. Make them do it, win for everybody imo…
Awesome video, love the format!
Since I joined Destiny during D2, I was kind of waiting for a price drop on D1 collection. Ended up buying it this week just to go thru the expansions. Can't wait to do the SIVA expansion
I love this new segment! Great idea! I’d love to see more.
Nobody wants to pay the same price for less content.
the dude that said destiny's game modes are repetitive is spot on. it largely feels that ever new expansion is just the same expansion but with a slightly different skin. even the story dialog on a week to week basis is just "good work on killing those *whatever enemy we're fighting this time*, but now i need you to go do that again so we can charge the *insert macguffin* "
im SURE its hard to keep coming up with new cool shit but i feel like ive been loosely playing the same shit for years with the VERY occasional mix up
All that is needed is to finish undoing the DCV, since TFS already started the process by undoing weapon sunsetting, and reprising WotM and porting all of the D1 campaigns/strikes.
Big fan of this kind of content, will watch these takes always
The issue with the counterfeit modifier is it SPAWNED the ammo on you!
