🎢 Waldameer Park is the 10th oldest amusement park in the US.
🏖️ Initially, the park's main attraction was its beach, but it gradually added rides and other entertainment.
🚋 The park was originally owned by the Erie Electric Motor Company, which used it as a way to increase trolley ridership.
🎡 The park's first ride was the Whirly Gig, located on the beach.
🎠 The oldest surviving building in the park is the Carousel Building, constructed in 1905.
🏰 Other early attractions included a dance hall, picnic groves, and a clamshell theater.
🌊 The park's beach was a popular destination for people looking to escape the city, even if they didn't intend to swim.

Awesome documentary!
The Comet was my first roller coaster ride.
This channel is neat! I’d like to request a deep dive into the graveyards that are still present under much of Erie pa
The Comet! A TWENTY-FIVE FOOT DROP!
This is amazing! My dad lived at Kelso Beach which is right next to Waldemeer. He worked there many summers when he was a boy.
I lived on Kelso as well, got used to the sound of the train whistle on good days.
I currently live on Kelso and it's wonderful in the summer!
@@RockMusicBear I grew up on Kelso too and my grandfather still lives there. Do you guys know Bob Wright?

good ol' bear beach, serene and peaceful - great memories growing up
Ahhhh, the Mill Run...I can smell the ride in my memories
I told my family to spread my ashes in the Wacky Shack when I die. If you ever see me in there say hello
Such a great job at this (and part 2). My father worked there back when he was growing up, I worked there in the late 80s and early 90s, my sister worked there... all four of my younger brothers worked there... Waldameer has been a family workplace for us for ages, and to see you tell the history of it like this is awesome!
Very interesting 👌.
Well done! My husband and I enjoy your videos. It is amazing how you bring history to life. Looking forward to more new productions! Keep them coming.
