- After a four-year wait, we received our Rivian R1S and take it on its first major adventure. With temperatures well below zero Fahrenheit watch and see how it goes.
Thanks for the time and effort required to make this video - and - thanks for being an early adopter!! You have patience!! Far more positives than negatives here - but - not realistic for my travels (yet).
Can’t wait to get some actual fast chargers in MN, especially up north where we all like to fishing. Right now there’s only 1 350kw in the whole state (that I know of), located at the Woodbury Walmart. The R1S can charge 4 1/2 times faster than the 50kW chargers dispense at. BTW, Duluth also has a free charger if you ever head that way.
There's a one time/year tax deduction of $7,500.00 and free sunpass (Florida residence) Waited 2 years for the truck and it was worth the wait!
If camp mode doesn’t work like it should, that’s a safety issue with those temps. I’d be an unhappy camper spending 80k with that issue. Charging time is terrible as well. Thank you for sharing your experience. I’m waiting for the max pack, but I may pull out. I think they still have a lot to figure out.

@@justbecause9645 no,I’m a potential Rivian Customer with an order I’ve been waiting for over 3 years. These videos help my decision on pulling the trigger. I am so grateful that this owner was upfront and honest about his experience and not just another fanboy doing nothing but promotion. 83k for this truck is serious money. My nearest Rivian Center is almost 2 hours away, so these inconvenient “issues” are very relevant. Thank you for the misnomer.

Interested to know if a year later Rivian has fixed Camp mode to work as expected for you or are you still experiencing these sorts of problems?

If you read online, this is kind of the expectation with the Rivian's so far - there is a wide variety of quality control issues and over-promises in capability. Cool idea/cars though.
I’m still going to buy one just because I admire them being creative with their design. Rivian’s look fun and interesting as compared with basically every other truck/suv on the road imo
Do you recall if that whining noise (for lack of a better term) on the highway was motor / drivetrain noise, or probably noise from A/T tires? It seemed to be speed dependent.
I think you are referring to the wind noise from the driver window. That was
Speed dependent and never was resolved.
What was the issue that required the time back in the service center?
There were many different issues we had, causing the vehicle to be unusable. We are putting a video out on this soon.
Man you’ve got some sloooow chargers there. Anything over 50kw chargers there??
No unfortunately and they are not working half the time.
It makes sense that because you paid their unrealisticly low initial early adopter price that you'd get a lemon that former customers returned for a refund. I believe Rivian knew all along that you would encounter these problems.
Rivian looks like a bust to me.
They’ll be fine. They’ve literally made vehicles for one year now. It’s gonna take along time to settle into a good production groove and work kinks
