One of my greatest chess brags is that as a 10 y/o tournament player (rating maybe 1600ish) in the 90s, I would almost always sacrifice the knight in the opening if it forced the black King to take. I knew my opponents never knew what to do, and being down 3 points in material meant literally nothing because they could never stabilize the position or fully develop even half of their pieces. Seeing this "alien gambit" now as an adult who sucks at chess kind of makes me proud, because I know I've accidentally played this opening as a kid. But that's enough ego stroking for one day.. thx for the uploads Gotham. I'm rediscovering chess as an adult and loving every minute of it!
For me, the most impressive part of your play was wandering into a "losing" position against a 2100 and finding checkmate like 6 moves later. People can say what they want, Gotham is a killer.
I play the AG against 1000+ ELO opponents and the most common move after Nf3 is still Bg4. It blows my mind. It’s like Caro-Kann is a system to them and they don’t know what else to do.
I don't understand why man wasn't trying to trade queens at about 30:20? There was no need for him to lose a pawn in front of the king. What's after black Qg7?
Man got rolled by the 1300, I don't think the Alien gambit really does well, Gotham basically only won because he put a lot of pressure with his experience as a way higher rated player.
@@Idontwanttoexistt in bullet, where even GMs blunder their queens all the time. Having wins doesn't even mean they score better when they play it than when they don't.

I heard of this first through Eric Rosen's channel, and as a C-K player I figured I should do some analysis. The c5 idea was surprising, but Torch suggested b2 (to fianchetto) as a response, perhaps an alternative to Levy's c3 suggestion.
This pairs well with the Tennyson Gambit. Scandi players don't know what hit them when you play the Tennyson and Caro players can't deal with the Alien. At minimum, they are out of their comfort zone.
Oh wouldn’t say that, I Scandi player and played 30m rapid against a (better) friend (who is actually the first dude Gotham played against in this Video (Niko)) he tried to get me with Tennison Gambit but instead of getting me to get in trouble he was the one with problems in the opening and mid game and it was very hard for him to win in the end. Tennison is only good if you surprise your enemy, if he’s an experienced Scandi player than just don’t do it or you’ll get big problems
Well, I ran into an opponent that played a Caro Kann defense and decided to try this Alien opening. Here's what my game looked like: 1. e4 c6 2. d4 d5 3. Nc3 dxe4 4. Nxe4 Bf5 5. Ng5 Qa5+ 6. c3 Nd7 7. Nxf7 Kxf7 8. Nf3 Bg4 9. Bc4+ Ke8 10. O-O Ngf6 11. Re1 c5 12. h3 Bxh3 13. gxh3 cxd4 14. cxd4 Rd815. Ng5 Nc5 16. Bf7+ Kd7 17. dxc5+ Kc6 18. Qf3+ Kxc5 19. Re5+ Nd5 20. Rxd5+ Rxd5 21. Qxd5+ Kb6 22. Be3+ Ka6 23. Qc4+ b5 24. Qc6+ Qb6 25. Bxb6 axb6 My opponent resigned after the last move. Mind that we are both 800 rated players (although in some of my reviews recently, the engine says that I've been playing as a 1100-1300 which shows I've improved). The alien did work indeed, but I had a few misses (instead of 9. Bc4+, top engine move was Qb3+), and had a faster way of check-mate in the end that I also missed. Thanks for this out-of-this-World (hehe) opening, Levy!
There’s a new gambit called the giga-ooga gambit. It’s where you lose 2 pawns and an entire rook, and then black plays g6, then you plat Qh5 and hang your queen.

I tried alien gambit but opponent just bring out king side knight early , holding on to the e4 square, and e4 square is the main square where pony should be step on safely to work out alien gambit.
I’m brand new to chess, only 2 games with my mom I’ve played. This opening is absolutely wild. To force your opponent to fumble being able to castle within 10 opening moves is so critical. This channel is awesome. God bless you whoever reads this.
