When training with Rainbow they admitted that the PN2 had horrible air leakage and that's specifically why they came out with the PN3. They also replaced the beater bars with stiff bristles so customers wouldn't have the worry about carpet snagging due to the beater bars forming a nic in them and scrapping the carpet. So yes PN3 is a much better nozzle, only problem I have is the bristles need to be a tad bit longer to provide a little more agitation with people like myself with low low pile carpet.
I like the styling on the PN12 best. I've always thought that Rainbow builds a high quality powernozzle and appreciate the smooth sound of their powernozzle motors.

Remember though the SE-PE has better airflow than the regular SE so the PN1 hooked up to the SE-PE should see about 50ish CFM.
