    Something subtle to be aware of when using the fairy blast. The blast extends in all directions, but it will only hit enemies onscreen. This means that by default, it only hits in front of you. However, if you spin the camera immediately after you regain control, you can load the enemies behind you and cause them to take damage too. You have to move the camera fast because the hitbox doesn't last very long; I suggest turning your character around and spamming ZL to instantly recenter the camera.
    I'm not talking about the lingering effects here, like the ongoing damage from dark-elemental blasts. The initial hitbox also lingers for a split second after you regain control, and that's the reason you have to act so fast.
    This is also why the blast is so good at taking keeps: the boss can take a moment to show up after you wipe the minions, but since the hitbox lingers, there's about a 50-50 chance it'll last until the boss loads. You can improve your odds by spamming L to lock onto the boss and bring it onscreen.

      @@BlitzkriegOmega no, I'm pretty sure it can hit enemies that haven't appeared yet, as I've been using them quite a bit and I tend to get a couple hundred, (up to like 400-500 in big groups) with each blast.

    • @DarthLocutus0
      @DarthLocutus0 3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      It can indeed hit enemies that haven't been rendered yet, and even linger for a moment to get aome as they spawn (within about a second or so). A high-enough-level blast can completely clear a keep, including killing the Keep Boss as he spawns.

    A tip for anyone farming Fairy Food. The Grand Travels map, ‘A Divisive plan’ battles plus the corresponding Apothecary potion really help get lots of silver and gold food. An example would be the Drink Drop Apothecary potion when battling Young Links in A-1 on Grand Travels.

    6:45 I've found this statement regarding clothing to be false. At least in regards to magic cost reduction. If I give my light fairy with a fire element secondary all fire clothing, the cost of using the blast is still reduced. Hard to tell if it also works with damage since the fairy I tested on was low level. But the magic reduction definitely works.

    • @deathsheir2035
      @deathsheir2035 5 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      It also works with damage.
      Wearing clothing that matches the fairy's primary element, increases the damage of the initial fairy blast.
      Wearing clothing that matches darkness-secondary, increases the damage enemies take over time, while inside the barrier.
      Wearing Clothing that matches light-secondary, increases the healing of allies.
      Wearing clothing that matches a fire-secondary, reduces enemy defenses even further.
      Wearing clothing that matches a water-secondary, increases ally defenses even further.
      Wearing Clothing that matches Lightning-Secondary, reduces enemy movement even further.
      As a result, if you have two lightning-secondary element effect, and wear clothing that increases lightning-damage, you have the strongest slow-down effect possible.
      Which does mean, a lightning fairy is strongest, when the two secondary effects are lightning element, as that means wearing lightning enhancing clothing enhances both the initial blast, and the secondary effect simultaneously.

      @@deathsheir2035 Hey, I hate to respond to a two-month-old post, but I cannot for the life of me find any other source that's claiming this, and I'd really like to know if it's true or not.

    • @deathsheir2035
      @deathsheir2035 4 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      It's hard to notice in some cases, but I have experimented with this. Looking at the darkness effect, of damage over time, the damage it inflicts is already small and hard to see happening (you only know enemies are under the effects because of the overlay, on the models when they are in the barrier). And because of the other objectives you need to do during play, you're killing the enemies before you can even notice the difference anyway.
      The Light effect is almost in similar vain, because you're moving from one location to another, fast enough, that you've likely left the area, before you notice the increased healing.
      Fire that gives reduced defenses to enemies, is another tricky one, because if you use too weak of a character, it won't matter, but use too strong of a character, still won't matter. So finding a character that has difficulties without defense reduction, but can manage if done correctly, was a must. After I learned about how broken Sheik was, Testing this became a breeze. There is a definite improvement when using Fire damage enhancing clothing with a fire-secondary effect.
      Water effect, is in the same vain as the light and dark effects, in that you're likely killing enemies so quickly, that you hardly notice a difference in ally defenses (it does not improve your defenses).
      The Lightning Effect, is another tricky one to notice, because again, you're moving from 1 location to another, to complete the mission, to hardly notice. But, still possible to time, by standing in the center of your barrier (which automatically centers on you) and watch as enemies hobble towards you very slowly. Getting in a position where there are no allies to intercept them, made it a challenge.
      I have failed, many missions, to test all of these thoroughly. But the only real deciding factor was the defense reduction, and the difference between how quickly Sheik was able to defeat enemies. Sheik was so low level, but because of how broken he was, low level didn't matter, Sheik kicks butt, just takes a long time. The time difference between no reduction, non-enhanced reduction, and enhanced reduction, was certainly noticeable. The difference between non-enhanced reduction, and enhanced reduction, was small, but fractions of a second can often times mean the difference between victory and defeat. This even applies to when a fairy has 2x fire-secondary, the time difference in defeating enemies is small, but significant enough.

    1:32 Just wanted to clarify his first tip about ‘food dropping randomly’. It’s actually NOT entirely random. As shown at 5:42, foods have different elemental properties - which also applies to the different enemy types. Enemies will only drop foods that are of their same elemental type, so the only thing that is completely random is the bronze, silver or gold quality of it. So if you’re trying to collect a specific type of food, make sure you’re: Playing on a map that has lots of enemies of that type, use a weapon with Food+, craft a potion that raises the chance of that specific food type dropping, and(if you’ve leveled a fairy properly) equip any fairy skills that also affect food drops.

      That was my main consideration when I got a switch. But after hearing that the fairy system helps quite a bit I got it and it is a blast. The switching charecters mechanic is also helpfull. I have taken a partner into battles and switching to them to use a fighter I am more comffefable with or wittle down a tough oponant's hp then switch to an underlevelled fighter to give them some good expieriance or when I need to take care of something scatterd through the map (mandala stalks) I can comand fighters to locations and switch to them if needed. Gratitude Crystal comes in two variations, Silver or Gold. They increase all personality traits by the same amount. Gold giving larger increases than silver. Gold also increases the Fairy's trust (the number next to the heart), like other gold food (though other gold food only increases trust if it matches the element of the fairy eating it).

      having looked for quite some time (yes I know I am responding to 11month old comment), the traits that are increased by food is not random. Each piece of food will increase the same stats every time. The Zelda Wiki, concerning My fairy, has it accurate, so I recommend using it to find the best food for your fairy: zelda.gamepedia.com/My_Fairy#Food_.26_Fairy_type
      What isn't mentioned in the wiki:

      Another note: Gratitude crystals are the best. You obtain gratitude crystals by releasing fairies, which can only be done when obtaining a fairy when you're already at your limit. The higher heart count (look to right of fairy level), I believe the more gratitude crystals. not entirely sure.

      @@deathsheir2035 So does the faries innate elemental type matter? I'm using a light fairy and once I'm done with her I'm planning on giving her the fire elements through food.

    • @deathsheir2035
      @deathsheir2035 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@milo9086 Short Answer: No, the innate element, also called primary element, does not matter.
      Long Answer: The Primary element of a fairy, which you called innate elemental type, determines the element of the burst damage that happens upon a fairy's use in combat. This burst damage is affected by clothing that boosts the power of the same element (clothing that boosts light, will boost light element burst damage).
      The burst damage, from the testing I have done, is also affected by the "recommended element" that some maps have. So if the fairy's primary element is the same as the recommended element for the map, the damage will be given a boost as well.
      Secondary elements, are also boosted by the clothing that boosts the power of the respective clothing. So Fire Clothing will boost fire-element secondary effect.
      I haven't done too much testing concerning secondary effects, and how it interacts with recommended element of certain maps. So I am unsure if Recommended element boosts secondary effects or not.
      Dual-Elemental fairies, as I shall refer to them from this point forward, must choose which of their elements to boost the power of, because power boosting clothing does not affect both elements.
      This is in contrast to clothing that reduces the cost of mana, to use the fairy. So long as the fairy has the associated element, the mana-reduction effect stacks as normal.
      Because of how power boosting clothing works, the strongest fairy is technically one that is strictly a single element all the way through, because the clothing will not only boost the initial burst damage, but also the secondary effects applied to the combat area, at the same time.
      However, having a fairy be a single element, can also be a bit restrictive.
      Both methods, of giving a fairy a second element, or keeping a fairy to a single element, are viable fairy builds. Heck, Even a triple element fairy, say Light Water and Fire, is a viable build.

      The best clothes to use, depends on the Fairy's primary element, and the two Secondary-Elements.
      a Fairy with Primary Light, and Two Light Secondary effects, will only benefit from clothes that enhances light element (either by increasing damage, or reducing magic cost). What clothes to use, is entirely up to you.
      A Fairy with Primary Light, Water-Secondary, and Fire-Secondary, will benefit from any clothes that enhance either Light, Water, or Fire. Magic Cost Reduction, has two slots and can be of either water fire or light, in any combination (two light, or a fire/water, or light/water, etc.). If you want the initial blast to deal massive damage, clothes that enhance light-damage is best. If you want to increase the defenses of your allies further, clothes that increases water-damage is best. If you want to reduce enemy defenses further, then clothes that increase fire-damage is best. If you want the three to be balanced, then having one light-damage-up clothing, one fire-damage-up clothing, and one water-damage-up clothing, is best (slot order only matters if you want the top-clothing, to fill two slots instead of just one, at the cost of a magic-reduction slot).
      Yes, that is still confusing, but is the simplest way I can describe it.

    • @deathsheir2035
      @deathsheir2035 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes and no.
      Magic cost reduction, so long as the element is associated with the fairy (be it her base element, or element from a secondary effect) will always apply to the use of the fairy.
      Damage/effect increase, is element dependent. Bombos is a fire effect, and you have a dark fairy. Wearing clothing that increases darkness damage, will only increase the damage dealt by the burst attack upon use. wearing clothing that increases fire damage, will further decrease the defenses of your foes.
