Hello there. I found this video from another user on the Hyrule Warriors subreddit. I know this video is over three years old now, but you don’t credit the people who found this information. The majority of the information you’re using in this video is my work. You’re also not acknowledging the contributions of the other users: Kaushik, Tables, grin43, GraphyteR, and Pizzathehut38. With all this work we put in, this video wouldn’t be possible.
Hey there. This video is indeed quite old, but I'd still like to apologize for any lack of proper credit. I can't remember everything exactly about this video's production given how long ago it is from, but from what I remember, it was inspired from my own past misconceptions, later research and corrections, and a lot of community found knowledge to make this video. I couldn't have found all of these on my own given how obtuse and hidden the systems were, so I am definitely indebted to you and the others who found this, and it really sucks that I didn't include you in the credits here. I think that I would be more on the ball about giving proper credit now, but I know I was certainly more lackadaisical when I made this, and relied harder on community data than my own than I do now. There's not a lot I can do nowadays other than apologize and add you all into the description as credit, which I will do now. Apologies again, and thank you for keeping me to task. I'll try to do better in the future.
@@warriorsdojo6044 That’s completely understandable. A lot of the information that was found has been lost. Including those who worked on it. Thank you for giving the proper credit where it is due. the pokemon misconception makes sense when you consider that it kinda is true in a lot of cases. Good guys are weak to dark, villains are weak to light, Darunia and Volga are weak to water, the water types are weak to lightning, and bug girl is weak to fire. The only time it's weird is with Tingle and Midna, Tingle being weak to his own element (on account of his bombs no doubt) and Midna is weak to light (which... Makes sense). Also Lana is a water type but I mean, look at how blue her design is and tell me that it wasn't your immediate reaction anyways
The system is fine, it's just *never explained* in game. How hard is it to put the appropriate element symbol with a down arrow next to the health bar when you target a named enemy?
Hitting enemies in air reduces damage to x0.75, what the Lightning elemental effect does is make it so that your damage now becomes x1.00. Technically you hit harder and "increase damage", but it is more like your juggling damage stops being nerfed. Light Elemental effect (the white X crosses) give 1/16 of the damage cap. Darkness Elemental effect (the purple X crosses) give 2/16 of the damage cap. There is a damage cap when you attack an enemy, so you can never 1 hit kill an enemy (unless it's some lesser enemy like a Lizalfos or a Bombchu). So even if you're max level and use a super attack against a Lv1 enemy character you won't be able to 1 hit kill an enemy, and you go crazy and use Double Bombos (enemy takes 50% more damage) and you use Glass Cannon, and you use the element the enemy is weak against...you STILL won't be able to 1 shot kill the enemy. Most likely the best you'll be able to do is kill it with 2 or 3 shots. This maximum amount of damage you can do on an enemy is called the damage cap (this damage cap also scales depending on the type of attack used, special attack is x8 the damage cap of a regular attack, a Weak Point Smash is x15 the damage cap of a regular attack, but that's a whole other story). Nearly every bonus in the game can be measured in the damage cap, as most bonuses are 1/16 of the damage cap. 1/16 of damage cap = Defenseless, No Healing, Vs _______ (like Vs Dragon), Strong Attack 1-6, Hammer Nice Power in Lorule map, stage elemental bonus, Keep Keeper, Light Elemental Effect, etc etc etc. I can't remember them all, but nearly every attack bonus in this game was 1/16 of the damage cap. 2/16 of the damage cap = Darkness Elemental effect, I think there was one more but that's it 8/16 of the damage cap = Glass Cannon MyFairy skill 9/16 of the damage cap = using Element you enemy is weak against Great Fairy's C1 skill is unique, it essentially doubles her level. Pop her C1 when she's Lv255 and she is the strongest thing in the game since she effectively becomes Lv510 in terms of STR. Young Link get's a stealth 1/16 of damage cap boosts when he is in Fierce Deity mode. Master Sword gets two 1/16 of damage cap boosts, one for each seal you unlock. Cia's C1 doesn't increase her damage directly, rather it just allows her to activate her Darkness Elemental Effect (purple X crosses on enemies) MUCH quicker, in like 3 hits instead of 16. It also prevents her from getting knockback. That "Elemental Magician" MyFairy skill (allows you to temporarily overwrite your weapon's element with the element of your MyFairy) is not worth it, as it only lasts a minute and can only be used once per level. Even then it does not allow you to use the Elemental Effect of the element of your MyFairy. If you have two elements on your weapon, you will cause Elemental Damage ALL the time from both those elements, one is not off while the other is on. However you can only get the elemental effect of the main primary element. Lastly the water (poison water bubble) elemental effect seems to have been weakened in the Definitive Edition. Further, in older versions the water elemental effect would do "ticks" every second or two, and during these ticks the enemy would be damaged. However this would cause juggled enemies in the air to take ticks of damage somehow recover early, allowing your juggle to finish sooner than expected. They changed that in definitive edition, there aren't any more "ticks" of damage, I think it just does a constant small amount of damage like it's poison if I remember right.
From what I understand of the dark type element, it's great for 1v1s against characters, this is especially nice considering some of ghirahims attacks are good for 1v1s.
...This is EASILY one of the best things Fire Emblem Warriors has over Hyrule Warriors- A simple to understand weakness system that doesn't rely on accidently finding out Midna is weak to light when you have to use Agitha to defeat Zelda in a quiz and Midna keeps getting in the way. As far as I understand, that still isn't the case. Sheik can use all elemental status effects and can certainly do good damage against giant boss WPGs, but is still only ever doing lightning damage. This means Argorok is the only giant boss "weak" to Skeik.
So, in order to deplete a boss's weak point gauge, could you say it's generally recommended to use some (combo) attack that causes the specific elemental effect they're weak to, or if each character has a better "standard" combo anyway? So Sheik doesn't do elemental damage to match her attacks, but do Agitha, Twilli Midna, and the Great Fairy (and any others that can pull more than one element)?
Sooo...let me get this straight: -There is a difference between "Elemental Effect" & "Elemental Damage" -Elemental Effect can be put on a weapon is the weakness of a various big-boss enemies -Elemental Damage is specific to a character and determines which other captains-characters it would be able to beat up quicker, though not linked to a specific weapon (AKA enemy captain Link will be weak to Darkness, no matter which weapon he is using at the time) Is that correct?
What about "dark" versions of characters? Like Dark Ruto and some sorts. Do they follow the guide of the normal version, or are they considered weak to light?

That's based on what I've observed personally, though, and it's admittedly been a bit, so I could be wrong.
In terms of what damage boosts damage to them yes. However, they will do the weapon's they have equipped elemental DAMAGE. For example: if you use his swords of darkness, Ganondorf does dark damage, but if he uses trident he deals lightning damage
OK but- what about stages listing "recommended element"- and the related badges? Does playing as a character with (X) element give you a net, consistent bonus? But Lana? What's there that could give someone the image of lightning being effective against Lana? And some people even have abilities. I mean, Thick fat would fit well with me since I'm not that fat but still a little and I usually do better than others around me when it's cold or hot.
Not really. There are a ton of better skills to make her more powerful, like Finishing Blow-- you probably don't use all her combos anyway, which means that element/skill slot would be wasted.
Sword > Axe > Lance Bow > Flier Two weapons of the same type will have neutral effectiveness against each other, that is unless you put a skill on your character’s weapon that’ll make them effective against their own weapon type.
That’s just the games way of saying: “hey! Lissa’s Str isn’t as good compared to their defense so you’ll be at a slight disadvantage.” If you give her Topsy-Turvy the same arrows will show up on mages but they won’t show up on neutral axe matchups.
Dunno, but I remember they just don't have weaknesses. But considering that they usually are wusses, you beat them fast enough to not have to care about it.
One thing I've noticed and am wondering why, is why do you hardcore gamers always play the Japanese version of games. Is there a difference between the games if they have Japanese language or English?
it's mostly because japanese has a faster text scrollspeed compared to other languages, making it faster to get through text. for recording footage this saves time to record more gameplay.
@@moonfrostsketches That I can understand. But I take it you can't read or understand japanese, right? So you have i other words played the English version first so you get the story hopefully.
I thought most of the Weakness system was rather easy to understand, but Misconception #3 was definitely the surprise for me. Common sense would dictate that you also have the same weaknesses as the enemy versions of the heroes. Maybe they could’ve added that mechanic to only Hero Mode? After all, when you have 25+ hearts, dying isn’t a major concern anymore outside of boss battles.

Tingle could be explained because fire could make the ballons and explosives he has go boom, and while Young Link is of the dark element, some combos (C6 if I'm not mistaken, I've only begun to check details about strategy and so am not used to these notations, but basically, that Triforce attack) can me someone think of the light element instead.
But Lana? What's there that could give someone the image of lightning being effective against Lana?
You see now the difference between their question and your answer now, or did I explain it poorly and need to rephrase it? (in that case, sorry to not have made it clear enough the first time)
Wait, so Lana is weak to her element? Huh, curious
i wonder what makes her weak to lighting rather than darkness. she is basically cias good side personified
Just like young link
Probably due to the fact she *IS* Cia’s Good side.
young link is weak to darkness because he is a lightcharacter. the darknesselement comes from him carring the fierce deity mask
Same with Tingle. His default weapon counts as fire yet he's weak to it?
Thank you
Maybe deep down we are all a pokemon
And some people even have abilities.
I mean, Thick fat would fit well with me since I'm not that fat but still a little and I usually do better than others around me when it's cold or hot.
Misconceptions in a nutshell: this game is a pokémon game.
I have the option to load Shiek's weapon with all 5 elements. Good idea?
Not really. There are a ton of better skills to make her more powerful, like Finishing Blow-- you probably don't use all her combos anyway, which means that element/skill slot would be wasted.
I need this but for fire emblem warriors, because why does Lisa have a down arrow against axe fighters, and things like that
Sword > Axe > Lance
Bow > Flier
Two weapons of the same type will have neutral effectiveness against each other, that is unless you put a skill on your character’s weapon that’ll make them effective against their own weapon type.
That’s just the games way of saying: “hey! Lissa’s Str isn’t as good compared to their defense so you’ll be at a slight disadvantage.” If you give her Topsy-Turvy the same arrows will show up on mages but they won’t show up on neutral axe matchups.
Holy Toledo oh
Cool, thanks
I thought it was if character doesn’t have armor or a mount their weaker than a character with a mount or armor
So basically the entire system is so complicated it should be thrown in a dumpster fire is what I got out of this video
Honestly, I just ignore the system.
Pretty sure the Hylian Captains are weak to Darkness no? Why would they be the only captain with no weakness?
Dunno, but I remember they just don't have weaknesses.
But considering that they usually are wusses, you beat them fast enough to not have to care about it.
why is lana weak to her own element?
Thank u
I’m still confused
Some elemental weaknesses make no sense
Is this work on the wii u version as well ?
I guess
Why is the game not in English
Whoa. . . I thought botw battle system was complex lol
Hyrule Warriors isn't Pokemon, got it.
It's Digimon.
Basically pokemon worierrs
Subtitulo español :(
I thought most of the Weakness system was rather easy to understand, but Misconception #3 was definitely the surprise for me. Common sense would dictate that you also have the same weaknesses as the enemy versions of the heroes. Maybe they could’ve added that mechanic to only Hero Mode? After all, when you have 25+ hearts, dying isn’t a major concern anymore outside of boss battles.
Just bought the game with a voucher I took breath of the wild and this one since every other game was crap. If Age of Calamity had more content and was actually playable on that weak ass console I would probably go with that. But that game chugs every step you take and I cant stand it. They didnt even managed to make it stable 30 which would be mighty fine. I dont need 60fps on games if the game is stable. Or drops some frames here and there but that crap is constant powerpoint slideshow. Now after this rant time to play some Hyrule Warriors Definitive Edition. Thanks for the vid even though little bit late.
One key point I'm missing is how much the damage is increased by the very effective element. Is it 20%? 50%? Maybe even 100?
