Long notes- why should you practise them?

Why should you play long notes? Does your flute teacher constantly tell you to play long notes / long tones? Why are flute players always obsessed with these exercises? Well, it turns out we need to to do them to develop our sound and our awareness...not to mention heaps of other stuff. Taking some time to do this at the start of your practice will really pay off. Understanding why helps motivate us to do it and that's got to be a good thing😀😉!
