21:1 Compression 6.7L 12 Valve PART 2: Paint, Timing, and Oil Priming

  • The long awaited sequel to my P Pumped 6.7L 12v build, my bad!! I've been putting this off because I really wasn't happy with how the timeline of my clips, it was done in haste and not structured as well as my other how-to videos.
    I hope to remedy this to a degree in the next video, although it was also done in a similar manner (I was in a rush to get the truck to a race) but I do have the engine easily accessible so I can film what I need now. I hope that this video is sufficiently entertaining still and that you learn a thing or two!

    the pump gear thing happened to me with a chinese case cover, used a cummins case cover and it took care of it. even though your block is redrilled I did the same thing with my p pumped 6.7. just milled the holes in the cover a fraction to give the pump gear .010" lash. glad you are back on.

      Hmm.. I wonder if that was the case with this one then, this was a Chinese gearcase. I've never had any issues with other ones, and honestly the casting quality looked better than OEM so I didnt think much of it. I'll take a closer look at them from now on.

      @@Hazardous-Hotrod-Knowledge all I can say is I put one on a 12 valve that I had built, and the pump gear bound the whole gear train. when I built my 6,7 I just like I said milled the holes a fraction snugged up the cover with a mock up pump installed, checked the lash and tightened the cover bolts.

    Definitely going to steal the oil pump mod when I build a long block in the future. Great idea.

      Go for it! I have one for a common rail block and another for a VP and older block (dont know if I mentioned it but they are different), it's a awesome diagnostic tool as well as peace of mind to know the engine is safe for startup.

      Do you have any information on 190 pumps? Dodge pumps are hard to find in Europe. Got a 190 swapping eruo restricted dvs and holders. Is there any other differences to dodge pumps? It came from a winnebago

      Stock 12 valve gasket from Rockauto. I don’t know the specific make, I think it’s a standard thickness Mahle, but felpro is good enough too.

      yup like @sargebro387 says, 14.5 degrees, same for the 180hp p pump. The 160 and 175hp p pumps are 12.5*.

      Easier starting
      More low end power
      Less boost needed to make the same power as lower compression
      Less timing or injection duration needed for the same level of power
      Spools turbos quicker
      Better fuel mileage
      It’s the way to go!
