It's hard to describe in words how grateful I am for food service workers. As a former food service worker the levels of stress it puts you through is something I never thought I would deal with when getting a first job. I will forever be nice to these workers and will always be the laid back guest that doesn't mind them messing up or anything at all. Thank you so much for all the hard work you do, I hope you make six figures 😭

I honestly can't understand the willpower some people have. If I had to do this for more than 5 minutes on a daily basis I would become suicidal or quit after 2 days. A lot of respect to people who do mundane work like this who somehow find the strength to power through it.

    • @Mr.M1STER

@@34125867 Holy fuck, you are talking suicidal after 5 minutes of this for 2 days? Please talk to someone and get the help you need. Yes it looks busy but they probably know which hours in the morning and at lunch get really busy and they clearly prepare for that. Honestly, it doesn't look that stressful and it is nothing that you wouldn't get used to. I can see this being satisfying knowing that you are feeding hungry people in a fast and efficient manner. Things are only mundane if you think about them that way. You need to look at the positives.

@@Mr.M1STER okay, so 1. They were exaggerating. And 2. From your comment, it seems as though you haven’t worked in a service job like this yourself, and as a service worker, the only positive of the job is the amazing coworkers and the pay. It is extremely, extremely stressful. No, I don’t feel satisfied knowing that I’m “feeding” people fast. I’m trying not to suffer from a panic attack during every lunch rush because I’m getting yelled at from all sorts of directions. It’s mind numbing work that you can only put up with for so long because the place you work at is understaffed due to the stressful working conditions. Please stop trying to sugarcoat the reality of working in one of these places. It’s not fun nor satisfying for a lot of people.

Its just labor. No complex skills needed. Just repetitive simple task. Just like, well, a laborhand. Try machining, fitting, welding, electrical, programming, mechanics, plumbing etc. Look up what those folks do, and your mind will be blown. And im not even talking down on laborhands or in this case fastfood workers, I highly them and believe they are very much needed in the workforce and society. I mean, how else will all the tiny things get done. At the end of the day, work is work after all.

I admire how this man leads by example and is not afraid to do the work of crew. The first franchised McDonald's I worked at, I worked under a slobbish General Manager with the Owner/Operator never being around so he never truly had an idea what was going on in his busy, Chicago area store. Our GM would complain by yelling at our crew about our KVS times, only having one side of two open during our busiest hours, never come back in the kitchen to help get these times down. I was one of the managers at this location who had mentioned it to our GM. Not a whole lot happened of it though I do know a few of the good ones left, more were furloughed then laid off due to the pandemic restrictions, now I believe the store is severally understaffed though I don't know how much, haven't been back to the area for a while lol.

I started on this path thanks to Ryan Trahan, who drank a $.99 Iced Coffee every morning on his 30 days across America. Then I started ordering that deal on the McDonald's mobile app (what a deal!) and spent more time than I usually do standing in McDonald's, watching how coordinated everything is. I started searching out videos on TH-cam for how their process works (I have seen The Founder, and appreciated the efficiency that the founders of McD strove for). These videos offer possibly the best perspective of how a McDonald's works that I could find. I anxiously await new videos (especially breakfast) from you. Thanks for uploading Stephen! I think you're onto something here.

The grill cabinets have timers for each item. When the timer goes off you toss it. When we empty a tray we yell whatever the item is is out so the person on grill knows to put more down. As for knowing how much of a particular item to cook. There are charts that print out with estimates on how many to cook at what time of day for minimal waste.
