Russ, when people ask why ride a bike that will go faster than you want to ride just ask them why they drive a car that will do over 100mph. It's nice to have the power when you need it.
An ideal WIRED bicycle for me would be: A Wired Cruiser 20x4 knobby Tires Mag Wheels like Wallke H9 2 batteries 20 Amp. Fast charger 8 Amp. Like Engwe LE20 or 14 Amp like Aniioki. All with affordable price and nothing else. And then to conquer the end of the world. By the way, this is an extraordinary video. Greetings from Osorno, Chile, Russ
I’m from Australia and came across your channel. Honestly. Your review and honesty on the wired was spot on ! I’m in the market to buy an e-bike and your the best channel that actually makes sense. Thankyou 😊. New subscriber. Straight forward and no bull dust. 👍
Nice review. I'm 71 I weigh 240 and I've had my Cruiser up to 43.2 mph on level ground. Remember you can go slow on a fast bike but you can't go fast on a slow bike.
I am 66 and have owned my Freedom for 1 1/2 years. I have the orange one. I love the torque and the full suspension. This is my 3rd ebike and it does mellow out some of the rougher trails. Steve and Dan were wonderful to work with. They assembled it for me and I picked it up at Steve's house (the warehouse was closed for the holiday). I would love the new model (Cruiser) but have run out of space in my garage. Plus mine is considerably lighter with one battery. I wouldn't sell mine either !
Very informative and honest! I have spoken with the owner STEVE , he's very personable with the customers. He helped me for well over an hour. By this time tomorrow I'll have over 5000miles on my 2023 WIRED FREEDOM.
@@eagle94haslanded yeah I look for youtube reviews and Ive found several on the wired I put the model name in the yt search and sometimes get to see several other times (?) a few and often old reviews. and tons of the stupid music videos - ugh
I've had my Wired Freedom for almost a year and im with you on the speed. I stay around 20 and thats plenty for me. I only go faster if there is a legitimate reason. Ive now got over 5k miles on my freedom and its great for long trips!
I think this is the perfect ebike for the street, "for me," for all the reasons you mentioned. I now ride a Aventon Aventure.2 with a Sun Tour stem and a softer seat. I'm in my 80's and I like comfort.
I know right? it seems that most reviewers are going fast and lane splitting, cutting close to pedestrians, close to ppl on the beach and kicking up sand here and there. It is a reminder of why I prefer to ride solo. most of my riding partners seem to be the "go Fast n live loose types" that is their idea of fun. my riding is more like Russ, putt along. enjoy the views at the rate like a tourist. I feel relaxed and the animals are seldom startled as Im putting along low n slow.
I have had mine for about a month and love it. I am 6'4" and 330lbs and it fits me just fine. The rear shock is pumped all the way up. The only downside about any ebike you buy from the manufacture is usually no bike shop will touch it if you want any work or repair done.
@@RussIsRight They will, but not with electrical issues, just normal maintenance issues such as derailer alignment, brakes, tires, etc. I just called them. I've called/talked to other bike stores too. They really want to stick to brands in store. Can't really blame them, but leaves us non-mechanical aptitude folks in a bit of a lurch lol.
Hey Russ, I’ve been subscribed to your channel for 2 years now, appreciating your content and the stories you tell! So thank you for your review on this! I’ll be 63 in January. I’ve been contemplating on getting a step through, because I currently have a step over Velotric ebike that’s starting to get difficult to mount. After having hip surgery, it’s been my thought to look in a step through for obvious reasons. This Wired Ebike is beautiful to me compared to all that I’ve seen, and just the idea of having that power gives me a certain comfort from range anxiety. Your review on this Wired Ebike in one of the best compared to the other reviewers on TH-cam, just because your review catered to the older demographic who trusts your judgement. Love your full description and details you’ve given me, turning this into a no brainer for me. I want this bike!! So maybe after Christmas, I’ll be able to afford this. PS, you are awesome, and truly appreciate you sharing your medical history on this channel, educating myself others about diabetes, because I’m now also a diabetic, learning how to live a healthy life. Thank you for your service friend!
Thanks so much! Be sure to use my affiliate link when you are ready to get your Cruiser. Remember, they are usually in a pre-order situation so plan accordingly.
Just wanted to point out one thing for anyone living or riding in a hilly area - For those that don't want the speed just keep it at class 2 like Russ said and you'll STILL have the best hill climbing ebike out there! The torque is incredible! Great review Russ!
I just saw your comment. I am 66 and also own a red Euphree Stellar Falcon Step Thru. I am seriously considering a Lime Green Wired Cruiser or an Ecell Step Star. I really enjoy my Stellar Falcon but I definitely want much more speed and power. Much like you look at the Wired Cruiser as a fun bike!
I just got the predator and it's freaking awesome😂. But I am kind of envious of how you can step through yours easier because I have a bad back, And hip😂.I'm 5'9. But it's still hard to swing my foot over and i'm on my toes with the seat all the waydown 😂. It's big, But it's powerful in fun
Hey Russ, great video, I'm glad to see you finally got your Wired Cruiser! The last time when we spoke I did say that I would love to buy the Cruiser from you when you are ready to sell, but deep down I knew that as soon as you were to ride that bike, you would never give it up!😁 You know that I love my 24 Wired Freedom and ride it every week, I love everything about it, especially the power on tap when needed. I just wanted to mention that I dealt with Steven's partner, Dan when I purchased my Wired bike and he was also great through the whole process. By the way I'm 66 years old 5'8" and 210lbs. and this bike keeps me young!🚴
Well it seems Hades has frozen over! Russ on a legitimate hot rod. I have had my wired freedom for over a year and absolutely love it. Absolutely trouble free and the owners have always taken good care of me with any minor issues. I don’t often go 40 miles an hour, but it’s nice to be able to do it if I want to or need to. I suggested to Steve and Dan over a year ago that they get a bike to you. So I’m taking a little credit lol.
You're absolutely right about speed being a useful tool that you only pull out when you absolutely need it. My bike will do 50 mph but is seldom sees north of 28. Lots of people drive corvettes but that doesn't mean they drive 160 mph to the library. It's nice to know it's there if you need it.
So glad you and Wired “connected” as I was one of the folks who reached out to Wired and said the Russ is Right channel might be a good spot to land as Russ is a good guy (and while skeptical) I still thought you would give it an honest review. Turns out you really like the bike which is great and you may have even changed your position on these faster bikes; as you stated the speed is nice to have when needed. So I never comment as I am a TV watcher but here are my thoughts: I am 55yrs old and currently own the original 2024 Wired Freedom. I pedal the bike like a bike and use the throttle when needed to start from a stop and to get out of a situation like competing with traffic (safely) while on the streets. I use the slow start option and never feel like the bike is too much for me to handle so give it another shot at the hill climb test full blast once you feel the same. The quality and comfort of the Wired bike is better than any I’ve had previous, and I’ve owned several ebikes, such as Magicycle and Rad. Believe me, you will not want to sell this bike Russ! Wired is a good company and I think overall people who buy this updated version (especially with the added dual batteries for not extra charge) will be very satisfied with their purchase. That said, I have ordered another bike to compare - this one is a dual motor bike from Furious to see if I like the set-up with dual motors and dual batteries it has to offer (that may be your next review bike!!) Take care Russ and sorry you took a spill on the Trike but this Wired bike is a much safer ride believe it or not…
Both my Friends have Wired Freedom bikes and they love them! I like the Cruiser model at 63 years old and 6'5 I'd Rather Step through than try swinging my leg over the Top! More of a Motorcycle Rider but might have to try this! Luckily I live close so I can avoid Shipping! : ) Great Video very Informative!
I watched your video, after I bought my wired cruiser. I did a lot of research on an e bike that I would be interested in. I found Wired to offer a nice e bike with good equipment, it fit the bill, I ordered the cruiser, waited two months, the box was huge and heavy. I dragged it into my garage , (I'm 80, just finished chemo and radiation for bladder cancer), it was heavy. I finally challenged myself to open the box, unpacking was very difficult for me, I got the bike into my house and was overwhelmed by the size and weight. I did a lot of soul searching and realized it was to heavy and to big, I sold the bike to my girlfriends son. Anyone thinking about this bike needs to be aware of the size and weight.
Russ this was one of your best videos and I found it very informative. I am one of your over 65 year olds and will be looking at purchasing a bike like this. Thanks for the review and I look forward to your future reviews.😮
I personally own an ebike capable of 35 mph but I normally ride at 25 mph. however on my normal commute is a section of the bike lane that goes past a freeway onramp from the surface street, and in order to get past that section of road I will use full throttle
I own both versions of the '24 cruiser and love them both. The latest version with the shock in the back is a little faster and better looking. I also like the upgraded brakes and other upgrades. I do like the suspension in the back, but it gets in the way of moving your foot across it to mount the bike. If getting on the bike by putting your foot through the middle of the frame is important to you, then this bike might not be the right bike for you. It's a big tall bike and the cutout is high and not easy to put your foot through. I'm 6'2, but older and I find the cutout with the suspension in the way a hard mount. If you swing your foot hard to get it up high enough to get it through the bike then you take a chance on hitting your foot on the shock mount, which doesn't feel good. Anyway a great bike, but not a friendly step through for the mobile challenged and older people. I'd rather have no suspension in the back then have the shock mount in the way.
Thanks Russ for this review. I agree a 20" version of this bike would sell well. I'm 6'2" and ride a 20" fat tire bike that is a lot easier to manage than the 26" ebike that I purchased earlier. The 20" is easier to transport on a ebike car carrier, and the smaller tire gives better torque.
Great review, I really want to get my hands-on a Wired Freedom. I'm 57 and about 240. All the features you mentioned and showed us would be a good fit. I've heard too many bad things about the 48v and lack of power. I like your statement, and I agree that having the capability of all that power is great, but it won't be needed all the time, and it's there in an emergency. Now, to decide if I want to ship or drive 6 hours ea way to pick it up. Thanks Russ
This is an amazing e-bike! I’ve never seen as many satisfied e-bike owners as I have in the Wired E-bike Owners Community on Facebook. One thing to note is that most members in the group tend to be male riders around 60 years old. I personally own two Wired Freedom bikes and absolutely love them! Plus, Steve from Wired is a fantastic guy!
Apparently you’ve never followed Biktrix bikes. The owner chimes in on almost every issue anyone has on Facebook and personally reprogrammed my wife’s bike through my computer from Canada. Just saying they are also a great ebike company.
@@kmtnbike1117I second this statement. My first e-bike is a high performance custom limited edition Biktrix Ultra Eagle 2.0 with all available upgrades, and you get to pick from 200 colors to powder coat. They are in Canada, and this particular frame is made in America by Wyatt Bikes in Wisconsin. The quality and performance are stellar! My second bike is a 2024+ Wired Freedom, my 60V muscle bike! Two totally different rides but both are so much fun and have me back out and biking again after my total knee replacement, just like Russ!
Love that bike! This would be perfect for someone downsizing from a small motorcycle or small cc scooter but still wants to ride on local city streets.
Now that you have the speed bug you may try your hand at building your own ebike. Certainly not always easy but very rewarding to say ‘I built that’…. Good video even though you were a bit giddy most of the time, understandable!
Be careful riding Russ! Accidents must be in the wind. Yesterday first time I have crashed while riding an e-bike.. Right smack dab in the middle of an intersection. Car making a right turn stopped, I started to go, then car decided to go, I tried to balance at low speed to let him go but going too slow bike, the Euphree, started to wobble and I was too slow to get my foot on the ground and over I went. Back and arm hurt overnight, but otherwise ok. I was surprised the mirror survived the fall. So be careful especially cranking those high speeds
Cool! She's a looker. I'll rip it and show you a proper dig. Wired is smart to not offer anything else, steve is the man and so is this bike's big bro, the best one you still need to review. The option for a custom color would be sic btw
Great review Russ. I have an early 2024 Wired Freedom single battery and really enjoy the bike. I keep it set at class 2 but like having the extra power if needed, the best is comfortable ride, no ghost pedaling and of course the extra power. I unlocked it once, ohboy fast. I bought to soon if I would have known the new Cruiser was going full suspension I would have got that one being step thru. I enjoy my Freedom just takes a little bit to get on and off. All that said I love the bike. Looking forward to more reviews you do a very informative review. Ride safe Enjoy
Mornin, what's up buddy...... Yeah, you and I are very close to Wired being in Suburbs. I was in contact with them months ago, a few emails back and fourth, basically saying the same thing that stock was limited and said it might be a wait, but then they ghosted me the last couple of months for some reason🤷♂.....lol. I even said I didn't need to keep the bike, I live close and could pick it up, film for a few weeks and just bring it back, still nothing......lol. So you got some luck getting one to review. Wired and E-cells are trending right now so it should do well with the TH-cam e-bike community. That green cruiser is the best looking bike I think I've ever seen in my 5 years of reviewing e-bikes. Enjoy, definitely a keeper! Looking forward to seeing some more cruiser videos.
I follow your channel too, I like that you include detailed assembly of the bikes. Just keep trying Wired, I'm curious what you might think of them after that ecells review you did a few months back.
@jfly2249 Thanks for the confidence boost! I'll try one more time, but honestly, soon it'll be too cold in a month or two to ride and review, but we'll see. Thanks 😊
@nellynags Thank you, I used to make two separate videos for a bike. One assembly video, then a Review video. But now, in the interest of time I just put it all in one. Yes, the ecells video is still very popular, but that's an old bike of mine with lots of miles. I need a new personal bike to replace it. Will it be a Wired bike???? Maybe, maybe not🤷♂️who knows. I will try them one more time before I give up on them. Winter is coming and the in January I'll be building out my 2,000sq ft retail bike shop space to prepare for a March Grand Opening in Crystal Lake, IL. Thanks for watching....
Appreciate the review. I'm late 70s with hip issues and have to use a 20 inch step through because of the stepover height. I would be very interested in the Wired in a 20 inch configuration. Power and comfort are a great combination😊
This is my next e-bike. I have a Magicycle cruiser for 2 years and I have been eyeing this exact bike. Nice review and hats off to wired. There are no limitations on this bike. I’m 62 years old, 260 lbs, 6’2” tall and love riding in the south US. This will be a great addition and well worth it. Thanks for the review Russ.
Good looking bike, in a great color! The power is a bonus feature that helps with street riding. A bit disappointed with the metal fenders, polymer is superior for that job. Agreed on the 20" option - I have a 26" tire bike, when I went to get a more powerful bike I had Wired on my short list. I ended up not buying the wired because I couldn't put my feet down with the 26" tires ( I'm 5' 8").
I am 65, 6'4", 220 lbs and I have a 26" fat tire hard tail. Thanks for the info about the dual batteries and how it works with the range. I don't understand why the double taillights but everything else really hits the mark and I think that this will be my next bike.
I think it is probably just because the case that that battery came in had that feature on it. They don’t make their own batteries obviously and on some bikes they don’t have a rear taillight. So any company that buys that case from the battery company would benefit from having a rear taillight that didn’t need to be taken off to be charged since it is built into the case. That’s my best guess
Hi Russ. Glad you are enjoying the Wired ebike. I expected it to look weird, but it is a very nice looking bike. It is too big and heavy for me but as you said, the 20”wheel size if they made it would be super popular.
I've been doing various research on Wire and I have questions that I think you can answer by doing a video on it. First Question is I noticed some people talked about how easy it is to switch between Class 1, 2, 3, or "unlimited" modes. How does this bike switch between those modes? If you can switch easily between the modes, I would like the see a hill test using Class 1, 2, or 3 and see the differences. I have always had the thought that switching to "unlimited" means you can't switch back to being class 2. What I'm wondering is, can you ride to a trail using unlimited and then on the fly switch to class 2 when you get to the trail? Then back to unlimited as you head home? I know my bike comes as a class 2 which was important to me. When this bike setting is set to class 2, is it actually meeting the class 2 requirements of the US government? Is that what Wire is claiming? I kind of wish I had the ability to borrow the bike to test out all of these questions, but you are as close as I can get to self testing it.
I will eventually make a video on how to make these changes in the advanced settings of the menu of the bike. You can switch between Class 2 and Class 3 by just moving the maximum allowed speed from the setting for Class 2 to the speed limitation of 28 mph of Class 3. I don't believe you can do Class 1 unless you can physically remove the throttle (which I don't suggest you do). As for Switching on the fly, you can't do that. You must first stop riding, get into the menu and then make the changes. But theoretically, you can do this as long as you are willing to stop riding while making the change. As to whether it meets the government regulation of Class 2, it is my belief that when you put it in Class 2 mode (or just simply leave it in Class 2 mode and never make the change of speeds), it does match the requirement this way... the motor is limited to 750 watts and 20 mph when throttled and when pedaled. Now, the motor itself is nominally stated as 1500 watts with a peak of 3200 watts. However, since it is limited to 750 watts when in Class 2 mode, to me... that's close enough. The controller won't allow it to pass 750 from my understanding. These are the potential issues every rider and purchaser has to make when dealing with the Wired bikes. The bikes are capable of a lot more if you allow it to. But they ship it in Class 2 mode to limit the bike. Hope that helps.
@@RussIsRight Thanks. That answers a lot of questions. When you do the advance settings video, I hope you include other stuff like show us how you get on the bike and when it is a class 2 how fast does it do the hill test. i'm thinking even if it limits itself to 750watts maybe you get a boost when going up that hill and will end up faster than 15mph.
@@RussIsRight Decided to order this bike using your link. They won't ship it for a month so I'm unsure when you will get notification. I think it will fit what I'm looking for. I was trying to decide between the Mokwheel Obsidian, which i really like the power station effect they have, and the Wired Cruiser. Mokwheel has offered me a free Obsidian if I would do a review, but like everyone else (other ebike manufacturers) I turned them down although maybe I will contact them again and see if offer still exist. They might be mad at me for turning them down the first time.
Steven Beautiful Bike, Looks Good all the features you offer is fantastic. Russ nice review would like to see battery removal and replacement, This is really a fantastic bike, like the range, like the fact you can keep up with traffic. I like the color.
Hey Russ, you are now "Russ Is Wired"🤣GREAT to hear you love this bike! Glad you and Steven CEO of Wired got together and received the VIP treatment. I'm glad you changed your mind on these high powered bikes. I enjoyed your excitement of this bike on the review including "I'm keeping this bike and not selling it." It's a comfortable ride with rear air suspension with all the power and speed you need when you want it. Plus the range with 2 batteries and no ghost peddling. AND WOW you went 38 mph, I would have never imagined that! It's thrilling, a game changer and the Wired is built for it. You can keep up with the traffic on some roads too. Loved the bonus footage at the end! BTW have you tried the cruise control? Just throttle up and press the minus button simultaneously, the icon will show at the top middle of the display. I use it at 30-35 mph on long stretch roads and enjoy the comfortable ride. Mrs.K thought you were just "giddy" throughout the video🤣She gives you credit for stepping out of your comfort zone. She wants you to do a Wired video with the "Born To Be Wild" soundtrack🤣 (I know there's copyright issues tho). Looking forward to your upcoming videos of the Wired Crusier Plus!!!
Thanks for referring me to Wired. My top speed so far is 39.8 mph. Watch the next two videos. Both done on the Wired Cruiser. Yes, I did the cruise control.
It’s a nice bike Russ 👍 very cool to see it finally materialize, and hear your thoughts on it! Good point about having extra power available for safety reasons. I find not only top speed is useful in that way, but also high torque- for when you need to move quickly, like to cross an intersection , or keep up with cars etc, torque is very useful to “Get out of the way faster” , if that makes sense! 😂 absolutely crushed the hill test as well. Nice!! 🎉 next up, Mister David Cleveland from ECELLS should speak to you , so you can do a comparison … 😊 👍
Hi Russ, I am really enjoy watching your videos, thank you. I am buying a new ebike and was very interested tin the Wired Cruiser until I learned about the 26 " tires and the weight. I am just a couple years older that you, My current ebike , a Troxus Lynx Plus 750 watt, with has 20 X 4 fat tires. It's a nice ebike but doesn't have the power to handle the hills in my area. I was wondering if you had a recommendation. I am looking at the Walkee H7 dual motor ebike. Anyway thank you for all your great videos.
Yeah, that's a good question. The bikes I have had that con do what you want are usually pretty big. The only one that comes to mind that can likely do well over a hill and stay with a 20" fat tire would be the Magicycle Ocelot Pro or Ocelot Pro 2.0 version. These bikes have great torque and was the "king of the hill" for me until the Wired Cruiser came along. The torque is no way close to the Wired bikes, but neither do they weigh as much either. And it remains at 20" fat tires too which would help you. The weight is not light but not like what the Wired weighs. Don't get the standard Ocelot because that is not the same as the Pro version or the Pro 2.0 version. You want these better versions. I wish they just renamed the bikes, because just adding a word like Pro or 2.0 just confuses people when they order. Check out my reviews on these bikes. Just go to the Russ Is Right main channel page and do a search for Ocelot Pro or Ocelot Pro 2.0 and you should find the reviews. If you buy one, please use my affiliate link to order. That helps my channel out with a small commission to keep me going on TH-cam. Thanks!
Two 20" bikes for you to look at; Magicycle Deer 2.0 20" (full suspension 1,000 watt motor, great bike) and the Furious EMX Ultimate 60V. Another great 20" ebike!
I know you said you like the leg extension but i think you have the seat post to high for your height, try lowering it so you might feel more safe and comfortable riding especially on turns, i also see that your hopping of the seat. I have knee and past injuries also and safety is everything to me, I have the same bike but blue, love it. also get a more comfortable seat i your going to keep the bike. goodluck and thanks for the review
For me, proper leg extension is important. It is actually the correct height for my size. Many people like to remain seated when stopped. That makes a too low for me. For riding while pedaling the proper height for best power is where I have it. Lower saddle height is actually more damaging to the knee. I had a knee replacement so it is important that I get the extension on the down stroke.
Its good to see that you can indeed add a handle mounted side-view mirror, from the website pics and other reviews it didn't look like there was any room to work with, and even someone from their support chat said they didn't think there was room. I assume you just loosened up the controls and slid them down a bit?
Wow, Russ! You confirmed my thinking of this being the best bike on the market at the 2k price point. I see the G-force magic suspension bike as the best in my opinion at 1.5k and the Burchda U8 the best 1k bike. I bought the Burchda and have found it what I expected. If I had found the g-force a few days sooner, I would probably had it. One thing is before I rode the wired after opening it up (and even before) I would want to know the settings were right. The quick pick up would be my concern that it would over handle me. The Burchda does come with the settings tame and I like that. Not sure on the G-force, but Wal-mart has taken it up, so it seems to have a future.
It is a good looking bike. I wished you would have shown stepping through. It looks like you will have to step over the shocks so it will be really high stepping with a heavy bike. I'm thinking that might create a fall. Therefore, the reason I would have like seeing a demonstration of stepping through. A second point is the bike is too powerful to legally take on bike trails so it wouldn't be good for that, but if I wanted a fast ebike then this ebike is a slow fast ebike; if that makes sense. lol I have thought about getting a cruiser eBike but I'm thinking something even more powerful than this. So I would have a legal eBike for bike lanes and bike trails and a mini motorcycle type eBike for riding the roads. I agree that the chances of a cop seeing you pedal this eBike down the road and saying "that is not 750 watts I'm going to pull you over" is nearly zero. However, if you have an accident that issue will come up and not having it registered and not having insurance and not paying your taxes are going to be a problem at that point; unless you were doing all of that then probably no issue.
Good point is right. That seems like a lot of bike to be riding on most bike paths. Especially since a lot of riders would be tempted to ride fast. I would be concerned about the pedestrians and regular bikes that are also using the path. Great looking bike and looks like fun if used properly.
Also crashing at those higher speeds may be more like a motorcycle accident than a bike riding accident. I would probably love to have a bike like that but have some concerns.
My orange Freedom does not get me into trouble at all ! My Sienna mini van can go way over the speed limit. I choose to drive civilly. Some of the spandex wearing riders on the light weight skinny tire non-ebikes pass me on the trails. They let me know when they are about to pass me. When on the street it is nice to be able to go a little bit faster !
@@curtpederson2923 I'm glad you are not getting into trouble, however that doesn't mean you are not breaking the law every time you ride on a bike trail even if you are only going 10mph. Also, it only takes one accident to go from "does not get me into trouble" to having a whole lot of trouble. I watched the Area 51 guy ride at 40mph (50mph downhill) and he looked like he was having a blast. He kept it on the roads because it was illegal on trails.
Yayyy 🎉 finally the wired bike makes it debut. Awesome they finally got it out to you. Great video on the wired bike 👏 and we talked about the wheel size Of that bike at Costco. I never pulled the trigger on getting a wired bc of the wheel size. I def would’ve gotten one if they had it in the 20” wheel! If I ever decide to get one tho I’ll def use your link 😊
Great review and great bike. Would love to get one of these because where İ live in Turkey where we have some serious hills which restrict me a bit being 72 years old. İ am fit but my legs not as strong as when İ was younger. This was reason for me going back into cycling when İ got my first electric bike about a year ago. The road my home is on is a 15° slope which İ can manage but there aare some locally a bit more than this which are also long so İ have to avoud. The range also is significantly higher than my present bike which would be very useful and İ assume for daily commuting use you could probably remove the rear battery to reduce the overall weight. How is the manoeuvrability of this bike due to its weight? İ agree with your suggestion of a 20" option as this should improve both weight and manoeuvrability.
Nice commentary Russ. Curious if you notice slop in the rear suspension? Saw a video where the guy shook the bike by the seat and the rear suspension was wobbling excessively. He was pushing e-cells so I question his motives. I'd hate to order one and be disappointed.
Hey Randy. I have the same Wired Cruiser w/2 batteries. It does come with two chargers for regular customers so you can charge both at the same time. At 50-60% battery life, it’ll take about 3 hours to fully charge to 100%. Hope this helps 👍🏻 Buy this bike and use Russ’s link thanks 🙏
Hey man. Love the video. Can you send me that link for the 3D printed thumb throttle handle grip. I think that's genius, and i want to make one with my printer. I'm glad you like the bike. WIRED is one of the best E-bike companies out there that I can stand behind. Stay safe out there and always enjoy the ride.
Im 64 6'4" 230 lbs Ive a couple "legal" ebikes w/ 750 watt hubs & they are fine for their purpose & yes I intend to keep them Ive considered this bike & others like it, My other ebike needs to take me up n over the logging roads of my area [we have many miles of them] I have ridden my motor bikes & my atv to explore them, But those are louder & Id like some exercise, Im just not wanting to pedal uphill 2 to 3 miles as the grades are long & Id like to be able to throttle up them when I want to. ;) Ive been looking at the wired and asked a few places "if" this ebike w/1 hub motor is capable to go up the hills that a loaded truck has been on? so far all I get are comments it goes fast - like you I prefer to NOT go fast, I ride often 11 to 16 mph. I like to ride back roads and easy trails that are a combo of loose gravel/dirt. its not a challenge or a race for me. I like to putt along & enjoy the views. my ebike will go up the hills, but Id rather not have to go fast to achieve that, mines a 750 watt hub & it hasnt gotten warm in a mile or a little longer. but Ive not pushed it on a long grade. But I see others and hear of others with wired ebikes that they do over heat on a long uphill grade, & they were pedaling [I think were going around or near 30 mph(?)] they had to stop, well the motor slowed, so they stopped to let it cool. they enjoyed the view & had a snack and talked a bit, I think the wired might have been ready to go before them (?) but Im not sure about that [& yes I asked about that on their yt review (no reply) ] I have a couple reviews on my channel, but I am looking/searching for mountain road reviews, but most are level paved city streets n trails. (populated areas) [that's not my world - I live in the woods] & I avoid riding on streets n city places as Ive done that. I choose to avoid high traffic areas & avoid popular areas. I am thinking & wondering if maybe I want an AWD (?) or a Mid drive? for my mountain roads? if a single hub ebike could do it on a regular basis for me Id sure like to try it. then if it did? Id buy it.
Sadly, unless someone lived in an area with similar conditions like yours and tried to test it in those situations, they wouldn’t get the test results you are hoping to find out about. My guess is that with the huge torque that this ebike has, it probably would be one of the best contenders out there for you. As for overheating, no way for me to tell. I haven’t had it overheat based on how and where I ride.
@@RussIsRight I was lucky [I thought] as I found a guy on yt that lives in Canada and he rode the mountain roads there. I was tempted to get an ebike like his - then I read too many issues with those ebikes on fb groups :( I noticed the guy stopped doing videos (?) so maybe he had troubles with his? or just stopped bothering with doing videos and he hasnt replied to me either - soo Im back to the search. I do a few yt reviews on stuff I have, but I buy the toys and just share on what I have. a few chainsaw reviews to a few ebike reviews. Im not a real collector, I just got a few toys. my current dream is to get an ebike to ride the mountain roads with that I dont have to baby up a grade.
Hi Russ, welcome back and Bon Voyage once again. Hey Wired, Hey Steven, I have a question, why in the world didn't y'all install front basket bolts so a front basket could be securely attached to this fast running rabbit? Have you done any research on maybe making the same ebike with a 3" wide tire ? That way the frame may not have to be as heavy duty. I like the 26" tires size, I really like the handlebar style vs Mountain Bike style. My ebike is a Beach Cruiser style Pedego and sitting upright is very comfortable compared to the Ocelot Pro. Very nice ebike, the 56 tooth front sprocket and the rear battery was a very good idea. That Lime Green is very cool too...! Good luck with your business venture and Russ, be careful, no more "Crash and Burn" videos.
Hi Russ, I really want to purchase this bike. Can you do me a favor and look into the "wobble" issue? This bike is exactly the one I want. Has everything I am looking for in an e-bike but if it is dangerous, I'm out. I'm almost 64 and can't deal with an unsafe bike. You seem like a really honest guy and I trust your judgment. Thanks.
No wobble. Wired fixed that issue and I was shown by the CEO how it was addressed. All of the new Cruisers have this fix so there isn’t anything to worry about. To date, I have not experienced any wobble at all. Please use my affiliate link in the description of the video if you plan to order a Cruiser. Thanks!
@@RussIsRight I just put a comment on your "Taking The Wired Cruiser To Busse Woods... Well, Not Quite" video. I see you answered my question already. Even in the Wired Facebook group they have mixed opinions on the fix. I guess I will have to take a bit of a gamble. Still going to research it a little more. Will come back here to purchase through your link if I do. Thanks a bunch!
I really wish they did make this bike in a 20 inch. I am a 5 foot 4 Person. There's 2 reasons why I have not pulled the trigger on this bike. I am worried the bike will be too tall for me and of course price. I really wish there was a place in Florida that I could sit on the cruiser style bike possibly take it for a test drive before purchasing such a Brilliant machine.
I’m almost sold on getting this e-bike, but I’m not able to charge the batteries while they’re attached to the bike due to my storage situation. Do I need to charge both batteries at the same time and how easy is it to detach the batteries to charge inside the house?
I bought my boy a Jasion retrovolt bike. He has had a few close calls with whisky throttle because of the twist throttle. And the bolt on thumb would really help him. Where can I buy one. I would really appreciate it.
It is a 3D printed thumb throttle. Many sellers on Etsy sell a version of it. But, I had mine printed at the local library. They had a service that does it for you and only charged me for the plastic! Watch this video and look at the description of the video for info on where you can download the file for the thumb throttle if you can find someone with a 3D printer to print it for you. th-cam.com/video/OPPBwhGP-Ns/w-d-xo.html
No rattle on my rear battery. I thought. For some reason, only the freedoms suffered from this. But now I see that a cruiser actually does it too. That is very odd.I wonder if the owner has an explanation for this other than having a rear rack that is bent
The only thing that holds the rear battery in places it’s connecting device to the battery. The battery slides into place on its rail bit the added small pressure from the foam helps to keep the battery tight to the rack.
Question for you: having a strong motor like this bike, doesn't that cut down on battery capacity, even if you maintain a 20 mph speed, with pedaling? Mrs Right should try it out, see if it's good for shorter, lighter folks.
Sadly, no. I wasn’t given one to give to my viewers. The link helps me though. Your purchase gives you the satisfaction that you are keeping me on TH-cam.
Nice review Russ, thank you. It is a beautiful looking bike and I’ve seen them IRL and they are large ! Two questions (1) There are many Wired Cruisers that cut-out due to the controller overheating (or at least it appears to be the controller overheating because it’s enclosed vs being in the open air). How hot was the temperature in the conditions you rode the bike in and did you experience anything like this ? (2) How would you compare and contrast this bike’s riding position with a beach cruiser ? I have neck and low back pain when I ride mountain bikes and I have had good luck with beach cruisers (really comfortable and no neck or back pain). It’s hard to tell from your video if you are upright riding position like a cruiser OR are you in a more aggressive riding position leaning forward with those BMX bikes. Thanks in advance.
It was not hot outside at all… maybe 68 degrees? The beach cruiser has a wider handlebar than this bike. I do ride rather upright so I don’t really bend over on this bike.
@@jfly2249 Thank you for the direct feedback. It’s a beautiful bike and I love seeing your strong advocacy for the bike. I am 55 and in decent shape (6’0”” and 185 lbs). I bought a 500w beach cruiser (I’ll leave the name out of this comment). Great bike but the motor is just too weak. I love the upright riding position as its puts no strain on my low back, wrists, or neck. I am now taking a serous look at this bike because of Russ’ review. Appreciate your comments.
I wonder if your pedal assist function levels would help to eliminate ghost pedaling. My current ebike has ghost pedaling once I reach around 16 m.p.h. and I swore I would never get a cadence sensor again because of this. Perhaps with changes that you can make with the display that'll reduce it significantly. With your other bikes that you have ridden that have cadence sensors would you say this one has the closest to a regular bike pedaling feel to it? Appreciate your videos
So far, there's no ghost pedaling on the Wired Cruiser that I can detect. It's all about choosing the right gear ratios when it is designed. They use a huge chainring and a small enough freewheel as well to achieve this. 56 T for the Chainring (when some others use just 44T) and 11T to 28T on the rear.
@@RussIsRight Thanks for replying back. Informative. Very nice how the battery really blends in to the downtube. Wish the chainring was double walled to decrease the chances of it coming off, but I guess that doesn't happen often. Wish my garage wasn't so full, lol. Nobody wants to buy the old stuff, with a new thing coming out every few months. 😏😆
Russ, when people ask why ride a bike that will go faster than you want to ride just ask them why they drive a car that will do over 100mph. It's nice to have the power when you need it.
Good point.
Good point.
An ideal WIRED bicycle for me would be:
A Wired Cruiser
20x4 knobby Tires
Mag Wheels like Wallke H9
2 batteries 20 Amp.
Fast charger 8 Amp. Like Engwe LE20 or 14 Amp like Aniioki.
All with affordable price and nothing else.
And then to conquer the end of the world.
By the way, this is an extraordinary video. Greetings from Osorno, Chile, Russ
😊
I’m from Australia and came across your channel. Honestly. Your review and honesty on the wired was spot on ! I’m in the market to buy an e-bike and your the best channel that actually makes sense. Thankyou 😊. New subscriber.
Straight forward and no bull dust. 👍
Thanks. I try my best to present things the way I see it.
Nice review. I'm 71 I weigh 240 and I've had my Cruiser up to 43.2 mph on level ground. Remember you can go slow on a fast bike but you can't go fast on a slow bike.
👍
I am 66 and have owned my Freedom for 1 1/2 years. I have the orange one. I love the torque and the full suspension. This is my 3rd ebike and it does mellow out some of the rougher trails. Steve and Dan were wonderful to work with. They assembled it for me and I picked it up at Steve's house (the warehouse was closed for the holiday).
I would love the new model (Cruiser) but have run out of space in my garage. Plus mine is considerably lighter with one battery. I wouldn't sell mine either !
👍
Very informative and honest! I have spoken with the owner STEVE , he's very personable with the customers. He helped me for well over an hour. By this time tomorrow I'll have over 5000miles on my 2023 WIRED FREEDOM.
👍
Finally someone reporting 5k+ miles..... my biggest holdup is that these bikes just dont have a ton of testing.
@@eagle94haslanded yeah I look for youtube reviews and Ive found several on the wired
I put the model name in the yt search and sometimes get to see several
other times (?) a few and often old reviews.
and tons of the stupid music videos - ugh
I've had my Wired Freedom for almost a year and im with you on the speed. I stay around 20 and thats plenty for me. I only go faster if there is a legitimate reason. Ive now got over 5k miles on my freedom and its great for long trips!
👍
I think this is the perfect ebike for the street, "for me," for all the reasons you mentioned. I now ride a Aventon Aventure.2 with a Sun Tour stem and a softer seat. I'm in my 80's and I like comfort.
😊
I have a lime green being delivered on Saturday. Can’t wait. 59 years old.
👍
This is the first review I've seen that wasn't totally dangerous. Thanks for the prudent advice. Having power on tap for an emergency is wisdom.
😊
Try REI. They will repair e-bikes that they do not sell.
🙁
330? That’s good to know I was curious what the load limit was
Hey Russ, I’ve been subscribed to your channel for 2 years now, appreciating your content and the stories you tell!
Agreed. 👍
I'm getting my Wired Cruiser today! I can't wait. I'm 63 and have the Euphree Stellar Falcon... this will be my fun bike. Thanks for the video.
Enjoy but stay safe!
Waiting on the predator.. Excited
Have fun and ride safely! 👍
👍. Yes, it is hard to give up.
Thanks for the referral!
You're absolutely right about speed being a useful tool that you only pull out when you absolutely need it. My bike will do 50 mph but is seldom sees north of 28. Lots of people drive corvettes but that doesn't mean they drive 160 mph to the library. It's nice to know it's there if you need it.
👍
That said, I have ordered another bike to compare - this one is a dual motor bike from Furious to see if I like the set-up with dual motors and dual batteries it has to offer (that may be your next review bike!!) Take care Russ and sorry you took a spill on the Trike but this Wired bike is a much safer ride believe it or not…
Thanks for referring me to Wired. I appreciate it!
👍
If I could afford a second ebike, I would definitely consider Wired. 👍
👍
Yes it is large and heavy for sure. Even if a 20 inch tire version was available, it will be heavy.
Russ this was one of your best videos and I found it very informative. I am one of your over 65 year olds and will be looking at purchasing a bike like this. Thanks for the review and I look forward to your future reviews.😮
Thanks!
Great review, I almost bought one while watching the video lol. Probably will soon.
😊
I personally own an ebike capable of 35 mph but I normally ride at 25 mph. however on my normal commute is a section of the bike lane that goes past a freeway onramp from the surface street, and in order to get past that section of road I will use full throttle
😊
Russ, I agree with your assessment. 20" tires would make this a much more attractive bike for a lot of people (like me).
👍
Vivid clarity on the video Russ. Voice sounds good too. Nearly the end of the season. Wish we could ride all throughout the year.
👍
Hey Russ would this bike work great for a Hunting ebike? Going completely off road, hauling cargo, and going up steep hills?
I haven’t tried it but I don’t see how it would not work. It has a very powerful motor. It travels up the hills easily.
👍
Thanks Russ for this review. I agree a 20" version of this bike would sell well. I'm 6'2" and ride a 20" fat tire bike that is a lot easier to manage than the 26" ebike that I purchased earlier. The 20" is easier to transport on a ebike car carrier, and the smaller tire gives better torque.
👍
Great review, I really want to get my hands-on a Wired Freedom. I'm 57 and about 240. All the features you mentioned and showed us would be a good fit. I've heard too many bad things about the 48v and lack of power. I like your statement, and I agree that having the capability of all that power is great, but it won't be needed all the time, and it's there in an emergency. Now, to decide if I want to ship or drive 6 hours ea way to pick it up. Thanks Russ
😊
This is an amazing e-bike! I’ve never seen as many satisfied e-bike owners as I have in the Wired E-bike Owners Community on Facebook. One thing to note is that most members in the group tend to be male riders around 60 years old. I personally own two Wired Freedom bikes and absolutely love them! Plus, Steve from Wired is a fantastic guy!
👍
😊
It’s finally here! Waited so long for this and it here! Great job!
It was a long wait, wasn’t it?! 😊
Now that you have the speed bug you may try your hand at building your own ebike. Certainly not always easy but very rewarding to say ‘I built that’…. Good video even though you were a bit giddy most of the time, understandable!
😊
Be careful riding Russ! Accidents must be in the wind. Yesterday first time I have crashed while riding an e-bike.. Right smack dab in the middle of an intersection. Car making a right turn stopped, I started to go, then car decided to go, I tried to balance at low speed to let him go but going too slow bike, the Euphree, started to wobble and I was too slow to get my foot on the ground and over I went. Back and arm hurt overnight, but otherwise ok. I was surprised the mirror survived the fall. So be careful especially cranking those high speeds
If you don't have one.. you need one! Cruiser or the Freedom. Amazing bikes.
👍
Cool! She's a looker. I'll rip it and show you a proper dig. Wired is smart to not offer anything else, steve is the man and so is this bike's big bro, the best one you still need to review. The option for a custom color would be sic btw
I just got a orange cruiser i could care less about top end speed, i got it because of the dual batteries ,torque and power
👍
I’m 74 I like the Bike i maybe getting one of the wired bike thanks for the review .
Good enough for RAGBRAI w/o needing another battery. You got no excuse now, Russ.
😊
@@RussIsRight So pack up your tent, your better half and train for next summer.
👍
Hi Russ I would love that bike and I am 59 yrs old. I will be ordering one soon as my funs are available.
😊
Their bikes have definitely been popular!
👍
The speed is addicting I have the Wired rival a 5 Star from Ecell my only issue is maneuvering such a heavy bike on a multi-use path at lower speeds.
👍
Good looking bike, in a great color! The power is a bonus feature that helps with street riding. A bit disappointed with the metal fenders, polymer is superior for that job. Agreed on the 20" option - I have a 26" tire bike, when I went to get a more powerful bike I had Wired on my short list. I ended up not buying the wired because I couldn't put my feet down with the 26" tires ( I'm 5' 8").
Russ is addicted to speed😂
Controlled speed. 😊
😊
👍
I have the freedom and love it. Only thing I wish it had was a torque sensor
Maybe one day they will add this, who knows. But for me, I am ok with its Cadence sensor. 😊
Good point. I'll try to remember to do that.
Watch this coming Thursday for answers to the Class 2 operation.
Great review Russ. Will this be your go-to bike?
Depends on where I am going. 😊
Mine should be here in a week or 2! Can’t wait, good review
👍
Enjoy the bicycle Russ. I don't think I would buy this bike, but I mostly just ride trails. I am 66.
Steven Beautiful Bike, Looks Good all the features you offer is fantastic. Russ nice review would like to see battery removal and replacement, This is really a fantastic bike, like the range, like the fact you can keep up with traffic. I like the color.
👍
wow, another ebike to consider Thanks
😊
I'm 74 years old and would love to buy this, however I'd be taking a chance my wife would kill me.
🤣
Hey Russ, you are now "Russ Is Wired"🤣GREAT to hear you love this bike! Glad you and Steven CEO of Wired got together and received the VIP treatment. I'm glad you changed your mind on these high powered bikes. I enjoyed your excitement of this bike on the review including "I'm keeping this bike and not selling it."
It's a comfortable ride with rear air suspension with all the power and speed you need when you want it.
@@RussIsRight You're welcome Russ! You're "converted"🤣Anxiously await your upcoming two videos on the Wired Crusier.
@paulketchum6819 👍
🤣
Thanks!
@@RussIsRight Thank you for the quick response. I'll check out those videos.
Two 20" bikes for you to look at; Magicycle Deer 2.0 20" (full suspension 1,000 watt motor, great bike) and the Furious EMX Ultimate 60V. Another great 20" ebike!
Great review! Looking into possible purchase of one.
Thanks! Please use my link in the video description if you decide to purchase one. Costs you nothing more but it helps me out. 😊
Nice bike! Definitely gonna purchase one. Thank you for the review.
👍
This will probably be my next ebike
👍
Its good to see that you can indeed add a handle mounted side-view mirror, from the website pics and other reviews it didn't look like there was any room to work with, and even someone from their support chat said they didn't think there was room. I assume you just loosened up the controls and slid them down a bit?
Yes, just move the PAS control further in.
Wow, great looking and great spec bike. I'd love it, but too heavy for me.
👍
Good points.

Really nice bike! I would like one. Thanks Russ.

It does well considering its weight.
This bike would be great for the next lakefront ride in Chicago next summer. Has Mrs Right showed any interest in grabbing it?
Yes, but it is too heavy for her.
Great video! Subscribed. Could you provide a link for that thumb attachment for the throttle? Thanks

Nice commentary Russ. Curious if you notice slop in the rear suspension? Saw a video where the guy shook the bike by the seat and the rear suspension was wobbling excessively. He was pushing e-cells so I question his motives. I'd hate to order one and be disappointed.
I haven’t personally noticed any issues with my bike so far.
Also how long does it take for a full charge ? Do you get a charger that charges both batteries at the same time. Nobody is talking about it
I have never drained the batteries to the end, so I don't know the answer to this question either. But they only give one charger with the bike.

Im 64 6'4" 230 lbs Ive a couple "legal" ebikes w/ 750 watt hubs & they are fine for their purpose & yes I intend to keep them
Ive considered this bike & others like it, My other ebike needs to take me up n over the logging roads of my area [we have many miles of them] I have ridden my motor bikes & my atv to explore them, But those are louder & Id like some exercise, Im just not wanting to pedal uphill 2 to 3 miles as the grades are long & Id like to be able to throttle up them when I want to. ;)
Ive been looking at the wired and asked a few places "if" this ebike w/1 hub motor is capable to go up the hills that a loaded truck has been on?
so far all I get are comments it goes fast -
like you I prefer to NOT go fast, I ride often 11 to 16 mph.
But I see others and hear of others with wired ebikes that they do over heat on a long uphill grade, & they were pedaling [I think were going around or near 30 mph(?)] they had to stop, well the motor slowed, so they stopped to let it cool.
they enjoyed the view & had a snack and talked a bit, I think the wired might have been ready to go before them (?)
but Im not sure about that [& yes I asked about that on their yt review (no reply) ]
I have a couple reviews on my channel, but I am looking/searching for mountain road reviews,
but most are level paved city streets n trails. (populated areas)
[that's not my world - I live in the woods] & I avoid riding on streets n city places as Ive done that.
I was tempted to get an ebike like his - then I read too many issues with those ebikes on fb groups :(
I noticed the guy stopped doing videos (?)
so maybe he had troubles with his? or just stopped bothering with doing videos and he hasnt replied to me either - soo Im back to the search.
I've been riding bikes like this for a couple of years the fabulous ebikes .I can never ride a slow bike again
😊
They claim it would be ok with a 5’4” person. The e shorter seat post they give will definitely lower the saddle height.
@@RussIsRight I'm just weak in the legs so worried about heavyweight as well. Why would bigger tires on a bike be beneficial to the rider anyway???
@Rue2love The fatter tires allow you to go off road if you want. Not as much benefit if you only ride pavement.
Heck yeah i will....
👍
Very nice bike. Excellent video.
😊
I want one but will have to save for it.

I’m almost sold on getting this e-bike, but I’m not able to charge the batteries while they’re attached to the bike due to my storage situation. Do I need to charge both batteries at the same time and how easy is it to detach the batteries to charge inside the house?
Very easy to remove both batteries. It is not a problem to charge inside.
Excellent review.
Thanks!

@@RussIsRight Thanks I really appreciate your response.
You would not be using as much wattage at the slower 20 mph speed.
Does your wired affiliate link have a discount? I don't see a discount when I click on your link and add a Freedom to my shopping cart.
Awesome review awesome ebike, Aloha from Hawaii

How does this 2024 Gen 2 model handle over heating which 2024 Gen 1 (apparently a Gen 2 beta version) does on long uphill stretches?
