Today Rocky discusses how Godzilla Minus One is revealing the true issues Hollywood is facing and it sure is not some kind of action or superhero fatigue. Its a fatigue of terrible undercooked and underthought films. What do you think? Have you checked out this film? Will you be checking it out in theatre or on streaming? Let us know what you thought, and any suggestions of what to watch in the comments below. Thanks for watchin!

This is a response to -- the idea that "America has been exporting movies, but hasn't been interested in hearing back from outside filmmakers." As if it were just some kind of chauvinism. I don't think that's fair -- I think that, in my opinion, it's simply that most Japanese movies just haven't been very good. They've been B, or C movies. And understand: I LOVE Japan. I've spent many months in Japan, and can speak and read at a B1 (intermediate) level. I absolutely love アニメ, and have been watching for 30 years -- I strongly believe: Japan has the worlds best storytellers and animators. But for some reason, that's never really translated to good movies. And for whatever reason, America has just produced amazing movies for forever. But... lately, Hollywood has been slipping. And somehow, South Korea learned how to make TV series and movies -- I'm thinking now of Parasite (2019) and of Squid Game. And now it seems that someone in Japan has figured out how to make a good movie. It stuns me that 東宝 made this. They've been making movies for what, 70 years? They've been around since 1949? Bizarre to me that an old dog should learn new tricks. But this is a top-notch A grade movie, if not AAA. But what's happened here is that they are now making good movies. NOTthat America has just shrugged and said, "You know what, we were wrong, we'll give you a chance." This movie totally stands on it's own two Godzilla shaped legs.

Im sorry but America has not JUST been turned off from Japanese cinema, but to foreign cinema as a whole. This is a well known fact so im sorry but I read two sentences and had to stop because if you can’t even acknowledge that The general American populous has been closed off to foreign film until recently then you either don’t know much about the American film landscape or you’re being willfully ignorant. Now its possible that Japanese cinema wasnt that good. However ive watched endless Korean, French, Polish, & Swedish cinema that received no love from Americans besides the wealthy and the directors who used them for inspiration. Although some things stand out like Ghibli or Godzilla
