Hey bro, you very articulate. This review is very awesome. Crystal clear. You are definitely doing something refreshingly different but familiar in your review. You are like the Colion Noir of Knives. You just earned my sub!
KingDOM Collective I watched your review so that I can decide whether to buy this knife or not since I’m not a Spyderco guy neither, I’m a Cold Steel guy. But after watching countless reviews on the Tenacious that are kinda “meh”, I stumbled upon your video and you sold me on the “reverse” spydie flick. The way you presented it stood out from everyone out there.
I’m certain you didn’t mean it this way... but why are well spoken brothers always called out for being articulate!?! It shouldn’t be notable nor a surprise!!! (from another slightly... okay mildly annoyed “articulate” brotha!)

You're only the second guy here on TH-cam to do a proper in depth review on a Spyderco knife rather than just a simplified first impressions video without detailed reference to other models. Doody's Daggers & KingDom thank you both for taking the time to review these knives for those of us who have yet to purchase a Spyderco. You've earned a follow! 💪
I got this Tenacious as my first Spyderco less than a month ago as well. Love it! My step up budget jump will be to either the Para 3 or the Manix 2... can’t decide which one will be best for a leftie since I don’t like the PM2. Keep the videos coming! From one brotha to another, glad to see a brotha out their in this EDC TH-cam world!!!
Thanks for your very thorough review. i just got a Spyderco para lightweight and wasn't clear about all the opening options. I will now promote your channel all over New Zealand and glorify you as a knife God!!
If you put a zip tie on the spider hole then when you take it out of the pocket it’ll catch and deploy while takeoff out the knife I did it on my old tenacious
Try Manix 2 - it fits hand like a glove. I have bought 4 Spydercos - Tenacious, Delica, Manix and now waiting for Paramilitary to arrive. And then there's modding - custome Titanium, Brass, Copper or Carbon scales, different color Titanium screw sets, pocket clips... Welcome to the rabbit hole!
just got my spyderco tenacious lightweight never had a spyderco knife, wasnt sure on the spider hole thing, but now that Im doing the same thing, where Im using my index (my hands are a bit small) I can see how this works pretty well It really kind of takes some practice
Got one of these the other day on a whim (impulse buy). My teenager LOVED it, so I gave it to him. LOL. I have mostly Benchmade knives and wanted a Spiderco, but I think I'm going to grab a Para 3, since my son "stole" my Tenacious.
Hey Patrick, yea I already know about it... A do it yourself Emerson wave, Not a fan I just don't want to take away from the look of the knife. hate how that looks. I have real Emersons for that or even the Spydercos with the Emerson wave but those look horrible as well. 😫
I don't know why it took so long to find this channel. I was looking for a light for my hellcat, just happen to have a ppq in which I love your set up, and I like a good knife. You got a subscriber.
the Emerson is faster. its made to deploy being pulled out of the pocket by pushing away from you when you deploy it and catching the curve on the top of the blade pulling it open... 1000% faster... good video
Hey, Richard thanks for the comment! I only oiled it once last week and it was good until I decided to go flick crazy for this video! It never squeaked before that. 😂🙄 I usually clean/oil my EDC once a month depending on the usage that month. What about you?
KingDOM Collective this actually my FIRST knife .. it's actually a hobby I'm starting to pick up and still very brand new to it all. I just got my Spyderco tenacious yesterday and also have a civivi vexer on its way to me. I just noticed that my tenacious is very stiff and not as smooth as the videos I see and just tryna do more research
Got ya, that's awesome. A lot of people will tell you just use it that's the easiest wa to smoothen it out, other than that polishing can do wonders or change the bearings. When mine is oiled up it's pretty smooth.
I could be wrong, but I dont think Ernie's designs have internal milling (weight relief cutouts in the liners) because he prioritizes a hard use build over a light weight carry. That would account for the weight difference.
Thanks for the videos. I never really carried an EDC knife(a cheap blade or box cutter maybe) but you've inspired me to put the research into a quality knife.
There are many good quality knives for very reasonable prices these days. Take a look at Steel Will Modus and Cutjack, for instance, or pretty much anything in the Civivi lineup. The Praxis and Rectifier are two of my favorites. If budget is a problem, anything in the Ganzo Firebird FH series is a great value, especially those under $30. Check Power Cutlery for availability.
Just so you’re aware the spyderco tenacious has a 4 way reversible pocket clip, it just comes in tip down configuration. In the video you mentioned how you didn’t like knives like this but you can change it however you like to be tip up or right/ left handed
I just purchase 4 of these from Blade HQ all of them were serrated and 1 was fully serrated, I plan to give one to my son, his choice, between the lightweight or carbon fiber. I prefer serrated (partially) then plain edge.
Sorry for being late to the party. I don't consider the Tenacious light. Try an Endura or Delica and you'll see what light really is. I've carried Spyderco knives for many, many years but never a Tenacious. A couple years ago I finally added some to my collection and was impressed with how smooth they were even being on washers. I just can't get past the current prices. Realistically speaking, it should be a $29 knife. Add the "spyder tax" and maybe you get to $39 but that should be high end for 8CR13MoV. FYI, the longest lasting edge is around 13 degrees and a mirror polish. IMO, PM2 is fine, but the tip is too delicate for a beater. I prefer a Sage5 for ergonomics and an over all classier look. Personally, I can't stand the wave opening but if that's your deal you can put a ziptie through the hole and it will catch and open like a waved knife.
The Spyderco tenacious is a four-way pocket clip you can put a tip up to down left right also also some people put a zip tie on the Spidey hole to make a Amberson wave
Very well done review. I could actually follow what you were saying, unlike lots of other reviews that have really poor quality sound and/or video. I’ve carried Spyderco knives since 1995, but only recently bought my first Tenacious. I’m not a blade steel snob like some people, so the budget steel doesn’t bother me when it’s attached to a great product. The Tenacious was developed to be used as a tool, not babied. You’ve got some really good opening technique for a guy just getting in to Spyderco!
Got my Tenacious last week and i dig it, but i have had to sharpen it once. I use it at work daily (i work in construction doing erosion control), and it seems to be pretty solid so far as a whole, and i may replace the clip with a wire clip bc i like the look of it, haha. ALTHOUGH, it did hit the concrete a couple days ago, and now it's off center and doesn't open as well as it did qhen i got it. Going to take it apart this weekend and see if i can't fix it. It is a pretty good piece for the price though. Next one for me, will be the Para 3 or Delica
Been riding the fence on trying a spyderco. Would definitely want to start in their budget lineup (tenacious or efficient) to see if I'd like them or not. Just haven't pulled the trigger with other blades out there at comparable cost. How Is the tenacious as far as drop shut?
Awesome video, I just subscribed :) You can deploy these spyderco’s really fast by just throwing the blade out without touching the blade itself if you have the knife and your arm/wrist at the right angle but I’ve not seen it on any videos
My first Spyderco was the Manix 2 FRN and while I like that knife I downgraded to a Tenacious for my edc kick around knife for work. For the price point the Tenacious is a great daily carry and does what I need it to do.
I could never understand the wild-west fast draw mentality of tip up/tip down knife blade carry. Equating knife fast draw to guns, in the old west, the winner of a gun fight went to the gunman who “got the drop” on the other gunman - meaning either an ambush or had his gun already drawn or some other advantage over the other guy. I carried/wore a gun everyday for more than 32 years and went through instruction and training 4X a year. “Fast draw” is a myth. The scariest thing I ever was told & shown was that a guy with a knife can close a 21 foot gap and strike a guy carrying a gun before the gun can be drawn. You think your tip up knife carry is going to buy you enough time?? I think it’s going to buy some sliced up fingers if the knife blade opens even a little in your pocket. But I sure did enjoy your video.
After 3 years of daily EMS use in NYC, my Tenacious is starting to bind and does not open as smoothly as it once did. I did oil it and that did not help much. Also, the blade is no longer centered inside the frame and is rubbing on one side of the frame upon open/close. Any ideas what I can do ? Thanks. I have another Spyderco knife that I would like to have the fully serrated blade changed to a plain edige blade. Do they offer that service for a fee ?
Nice tricks, just to say : when u have little hands like me its hard to open the knive with ur tumbs or other fingers like u do. But the spidey mouvement is really easy and convenient. Hello from France, + 1 sub.
Lol! Yes spydercos are great knives, their pocket clips kinda suck imho, except their deep carry wire clip on certain models. Their Light Weight editions are just feathers. 2.1 oz Para 3? Yep. There's the spyderco "tie wrap mod" throwing a cable tie on the spidie hole, carry tip up, then you can create a wave action using the trimmed tie wrap to grab the inside of your pocket. Keep an eye on Kershaws website/youtube channel, they are doing wild sprint runs right now, Kershaw site only exclusives. Premium steels, materials, and finishes at ridiculous low prices. Limited though, for sure. Yeah, make a opening video! Would be fun content for sure.
Been using Tenacious for a few years, have a couple of them. Only legitimate gripe is the made in China thing, that said what isn't in the sub $100 knife options.

It's fine Nate, I don't take it as you being mean. You're probably right to an extent, you and many others may feel that way and many others may not. We are all different with varying opinions and preferences, it doesn't make you mean or nice, good or bad, or even right or wrong. It just makes you well... you, and that's okay by me. Making something for many is a bit hard like that, you can never truly please everyone so I just try to honestly make videos how I like them and share them with everyone while hoping most people will too. Anyway, I'll definitely take note of what you said going forward. Thank you for the comment brother.
It says online the tenacious blade is 3.39 inch but you said it's just under 3 inches?? Confused. Edit: just noticed your tape measure doesn't start from zero at the very end. U could be getting wrong results 😂 Good vid otherwise
That is correct! I didn't measure it from the edge surface(the curve) just front to back. Curve included its definitely 3.39 inches. tip to butt center line, closer to 3.

"You won't have to lose a finger"
First time trying to close this thing the blade immediately fell on my thumb lol
HAHAHAHA!!!! Classic! 😂
Same, but i usually close it with one finger haha
great video bro, i cut the snot out my thumb more than once, ended up covering up the edge some with masking tape and that was that
I just ordered the spyderco tenacious the other day! I love spyderco knifes! My main working spyderco is the Endura 4 that I bought like 6 years ago
Right on

Great review btw it was very interesting to watch.
Did your spyderco come stiff out of the box? I Just got one and I love the knife, but the action on mine seeemes rather stiff.
I just ordered a Spyderco tenacious myself because I had recently lost my kershaw Emerson. Thanks for the tips and tricks I will be using them shortly
Also if you put a zip tie through the spydie-hole it will deploy out of the pocket just like an Emerson
Cool brother 👌💯
Yea I've already stated in he comments that I know about that trick... Idk it just looks cheap and tacky to me but yea it's always an option I guess.

If your into emerson waves there is a ziptie mod for spyderco knives not as peetty but works just the same. Great review love spyderco knives.

Can this be used as a left handed knife?
Yes
So have u got any more Spydercos
No sir, the only ones I'm honestly eyeballing is the paramilitary 2 or 3.

you can make it tip up or down

I could never understand the wild-west fast draw mentality of tip up/tip down knife blade carry. You would have to ask them directly but the first one sounds like you need new bearings, after 3 years of daily use that sounds about right.
I'm sure they can help you out, it's possible that your knife just needs a new pivot pin dropped in for the binding issue
Great Video!
Thanks!
nice Video, Greatings from Germany
Nicee, would you recommend it for a gas station robbery?
Wth! Lmbo! 😂
Subbed. However I'm practicing the flicks and my tenacious out of the box seems super tight for some reason
Thanks brother and just keep on playing with it. It will loosen up for sure.
It may need a drop of oil or lighten up on the pivot screw 1/16 turn. It should be quite smooth.
Just got my tenacious a couple days ago. Can’t wait to really break it in and do all the flicks lol
Nice Josh! let me know how it goes!!! If you didn't lose a finger you're not doing it right. 👊😂
Is yours pretty stiff out the box? Because there's no way mines able to flip open like this right now.

True
Anything in the Delica/Endura/Endela/Stretch family. They're out of Seki City Japan featuring VG-10 steel, a step up from the Tenacious.
Always wondered what those holes were for
Lol! Thanks for the comment David.
I think why the coolest one is considered the new is because your hand is near the blade
Very well could be!
It might be
The tenacious makes me literally wonder why I spent hundreds on my benchmades and us made spydercos
I was going to get one but a lot of bad reviews since it’s been made in China
Thats all nonsense it's a great knife.
I'm not sure if you're aware of this, but you can buy a add-on "Wiseman Fang" for like $35.00 and your Spyderco will work like the Emerson Wave👍. ✌

No way it's practical to reverse spidie flick on PM2... Prove me wrong!
Idk it's ez for me, but out of these 5 ways it's my least favorite and probably the least practical.
🗡 ☺
Who finds a knife Emoji? 😂👊
I'm not trying to be mean......but if your doing a review of a knife....just do that review........only wanna see 1 knife......not your favorite
@@KingDOMCollectiveI am sorry....im not a troll....but tbh I ended up ordering 2 knives in the video lol.....right after I sent that comment 😆
@@a-f-k_hick2442 Lol 😂 that's hilarious
It says online the tenacious blade is 3.39 inch but you said it's just under 3 inches?? Confused.
Edit: just noticed your tape measure doesn't start from zero at the very end. U could be getting wrong results 😂
Good vid otherwise
That is correct! I didn't measure it from the edge surface(the curve) just front to back. Curve included its definitely 3.39 inches. tip to butt center line, closer to 3.
@@KingDOMCollective Also depends on if you are counting cutting edge or total blade length.
Great Video!
Thanks!
Great review
Thanks you!
