My 5 year old son son watches thiis 1971 film again and again. According to him, it is way much better than the remake. This film has a magical touch to children even to adults.... How I wish we can turn back time to see the characterss as they were in the film. Greatest family film ever! :)
Love this movie. What's even crazy is that when the film came out it was a flop. Then when the 80's arrived and the VHS tapes were invented it became the greatest thing.
The Thing and Blade Runner were also flops. Sometimes time is the one ingredient missing. Stuff has to simmer in the public consciousness. Right movies at the wrong time..
@@nsasupporter7557 Yes. It opened the same day as Blade Runner (I think...either Blade Runner or Conan the Barbarian) and not long after ET. I love the original and 2005 remake, but this is just simply a classic. This zany flick never fails to make me and everyone else laugh. Gene Wilder was (And still is) a legend!
Ya, it is crazy the kids are the only thing left from the film. It is going to be crazy to see how much of an impact this will have when it hits the 100 year anniversary
This came out 11 years before I was born but I grew up loving it so much. Now I'm a father and it's one of my 7yo son's favorite movies. It's surely going to survive another 50 years at least.
Random fact, but interesting: Denise Nickerson passed away in Colorado and the young lady (AnnaSophia Robb) who played Violet in the more recent Wonka version was born in Colorado.
And Paramount Pictures and Warner Bros. cross-licensed each other's logos since they actually co-produced several films and some current properties like Popeye the Sailor cartoons originally released by Paramount Pictures from 1933-1957 in which now currently owned and distributed by Warner Bros. through Turner Entertainment Co. & Hearst's parent company, King Features and several John Wayne classic movies originally released by Warner Bros. that Paramount Pictures now also currently owns with Batjac Productions including Hondo (1953), among others.
This was my favorite film as a kid. We went to see it in the theater for my 5th birthday. It totally transported me. I really thought I was Charlie! I came from a poor family that had no extras. Interestingly in one of my first interviews as a presenter on TV, the reporter likened me to a young Gene Wilder. I was like "What?!" I thought they were crazy. Since that time, other reporters have made the same comparison. I now welcome the comparison, although he certainly was way more talented than I will ever be. Such a treasure! It is sad that he is now gone.

Same with Christmas Story, it wasn’t that big when it came out but it went on to become a cult classic

Gene Wilder. The kids just loved him. I think maybe Gene was just a kid at heart.

Oompa Loompas: Happy 50th anniversary to this classic
No wonder wonka gave his factory away. He didn’t want to deal with all the lawsuits lol
There's only two oompa loompas still alive

Part 2 was on its way...and Gene Wilder died. F the remake.

As Much as I Love The Gene Wilder Version Tim Burton version was just like The Original Story Book
Well both technically are amazing in their own right

I loved when Denise Nickerson turned into the Blueberry. Rest her soul.

Quaker Oats lost the rights too. They could've created a whole franchise of food-inspired films with the profits. Oatmeal: The Motion Picture.
Mike Tv aged the best. He would look even better if he would lose the weight. Why do middle-aged men let themselves go?
