I love Roald Dahl's stories, including Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. It's interesting: I feel that the 2005 Tim Burton version is a little more faithful to the book, and maybe even has slightly more of a "Roald Dahl feel" to it, but I think Gene Wilder is closer to the Willy Wonka of the book, and I prefer this movie version.

The sarcastic, halfhearted "no, come back"
The last one wasn't a sarcastic line, as wasn't a few others, but they were all great thanks to Gene's delivery.

And then he does his Gene Wilder, crazy man, with the poem in the boat. Only Wilder could do it that way, getting ever more hysterical as he goes along (rather like the Corsican Brother he plays in "Start the Revolution Without Me!".
This is why Gene was so great.

Yeah you have Johnny Depp who yells at them when they are in danger, and you have Gene Wilder who just says "Stop Don't Come Back." All casually. Depp's may have been weirder and louder but Wilder made me crack up!
LOL so do I! I found the way he tried to stop Agustus from drinking the Chocolate River to be pretty funny. It almost looks like he's trying to stop him, but I think in actuality he meant to scare Agustus enough so that he'd fall in.
Well, Wilder's performance was better, but I think Depp handled it pretty well. Like, he tries to stop them, but just looks annoyed when they do it anyway. When Violet goes on a rant about how she'll eat the dinner-gum anyway despite his warnings, Depp just does a "huh. Very well then." look that's really good.

I've never picked up on this line before. Utter brilliance.
That's the best thing about this movie, it gets funnier the older you get.
...the older you get and funnier each and every time you watch it.

Bull is short for Bullshit which, is, as you know, another term for nonsense. So when Mr. Salt said "Bull!" he ment "That's nonsense!"
But the joke is that Mr. Wonka (most likely intentionality) mistook what Mr. Salt said as a guess about what flavor of meat was in the gum.
It's also the only time where they got away with the word 'Bull(shit)' in a G Rated film (I think so anyway.).

3. Is a requote and 5. suspiciously sounds like a requote. Ie, unoriginal. Still damn fine entertainment though.
The writers of this movie deliberately sprinkled the script with various quotes from other original sources. They aren't in the book (bear in mind the movie does use a different title), but they are one of the things that I think makes the movie better.
I agreed with Gene Wilder, when asked about the "re-make", compared it to trying to re-make the Wizard of Oz. I can no more imagine any other Willy Wonka than Gene Wilder, than I can imagine another Dorothy than Judy Garland.
Don't misunderstand, Wilder was not claiming "Willy Wonka" to be the equal of "The Wizard of Oz" -- he was saying that some classics just cannot be re-made. And I agree.

Such an artistic genius of Gene that he delivers the line flawlessly and almost without acting begging the reality of himself and the story that is told. Moreso, such a subtle climax to an endearing adventure. Rest In Peace, Mr. Wilder! You sir are a Gentleman among men.
