I'm looking to get an adventure bike. The type of riding probably would be gravel and hard packed dirt. Those skills you demonstrated and the time to acclimate is what's good to hear. Thanks for the side by side review.

I owned a Tiger 800XCx 2015 model and put 40 K km. on it in Oz, about 40 % on dirt. As the Triumph manual states they are suitable for light off road ( read dirt roads) and the engine, suspension, brakes are all up to handling dirt roads at speed. But, the design of the plastics at the front of the bike are fragile and the sump guard is fine for stone impact, but not much more. The Tiger carries it's weight high in comparison to say the KTM 990/ or its clone Honda AT. Once you are underway the top heavy feel goes away, but at slow trail pace you have to compensate with body movement. The Tiger is a great road bike that can handle dirt, but it is no dirt bike. To its credit, the Triumph was reliable ( except for main fuse corrosion issues/ poor design) and they did respond over the last 7 models to issues owners reported. If I was thinking off my first ADV bike in Europe and I had to do a lot of high speed highways the Tiger would be on my list. If I wanted to learn dirt riding and do slower speed roads, the RE Himalayan would be in my garage. After a year or two of skill acquisition on a lower, lighter bike the owner could decide whether to follow are more dirt oriented ADV bike ( KTM/ Yamaha T7/Aprilia 660) or the road-ish ADV bike ( Tiger, BMW) .

Nice vid. You have a new subscriber mate, keep on it, 👍 I am starting to learn some off-road skills with my Explorer 1200, would love to attend a course like this sometime. Currently running the Rally STR's as well, great tyres. Shame, i've killed them off on the highway bit coming home from the Dolomites last month.

May I ask how tall you are ? I want to go to one of these and take a tiger 1200 but I am 5.8" and worried it may be too much for me.

which one was your preference the 800 or the 1200?

Chrostopher Agius for off-roading, definitely the 800. The 1200 is considerably heavier in use and requires a more highly skilled rider to get the most out of. For touring I’d definitely get the big one though.

A little thumbs down for the annoying background music. The best music for this video would be the sound of the engines and the squeals from tires and fellas. Maybe do better next time?

      "Better"?
Using music for a montage is a common film making technique, especially when the montage is not intended to represent a linear sequence of events.
