The Sheepadoodle is a cross between a Poodle and Old English Sheepdog. Let’s take a real quick look at the parent’s history.
The Old English Sheepdog comes from the countryside of England and it is believed that it comes from a line of Collies since it’s a herding dog, but that has yet to be proven.
Next we have the American Poodle, which is one of America’s favorite dogs. Both bloodlines have long histories.
The Sheepadoodles are friendly, outgoing, and energetic and they could possibly be the perfect dog for you.

Stance your a sheepadoodle owner I thought I asked you can a sheepadoodle do well in an apartment? Also I have a cat do they get along with cats? And lastly I live in Texas and it can get quite hot here especially during the summer would you recommend I get a sheepadoodle or would it be too hot?

I’ve never had my dog near a cat or in an apartment but she has developed friendships with other dogs quickly and I assume she can do the same with cats. She does need space to run around which probably won’t be much of a problem. An apartment won’t change much but it might make your stuff more vulnerable. As said in the video sheepadoodles are very destructive

Sheepadoodles are the best! Ours does bark... at everything lol. But she is truly is amazing, smart, and is always ready for a long walk or play at the dog park. She needs a lot of exercise though (hour walk in the am and 1-2 hours in a dog park in the night), we wouldn't trade her for anything and gosh the feelings she has for peoples emotions is amazing!

OES are really one of the most intelligent dog breeds , they are easy to train , are highly evolved emotionally, some of the best companion dogs period . As far as a herding dog , OES most always win contests when there is no person involved , they can even pick out 10 sheep that are not part of the heard in a herd of 500 sheep and send them to their flock. The only reason they rank low in these lists is because they are a rare dog breed and considered endangered a breed in decline .

My understanding of separation anxiety is that the dog doesn't understand that the owners don't have to be with them everywhere they go. A two way camera won't fix that. It's more about training the pup to understand that if the owner is away, they'll be ok.

In order to be able to generalize at all, this assumes he's talking about F1 crosses. If you breed two Sheepadoodles all bets are off - independent sorting of genes in the gametes, and traits all over the place. A German behaviorist crossed wolves with black standard poodles. The F1 offspring were very uniform. The coats were black and curly, the tails looked like wolf tails, and they had big round yellow eyes. The ears were long and pendulous. When two F1s were mated to make an F2 litter, the results were all over the board - ears up, ears down, curly coats, straight coats, many different coat colors and eye colors, considerable differences in temperament. The ones that were more wolf-like in appearance were not necessarily the spookier wilder ones. In order to have any uniformity that you can draw comparisons from, you've got to be talking about the F1 rather than multigenerational doodle to doodle breedings.

    • @Mark1Mach2

I wonder if this guy ever owned one of these animals? As a matter of fact, many of his pros and cons are the same across breeds. We've been life-long dog owners. Our Sheepadoodle is our latest, and she's now 7. Our experiences have been quite the opposite. VERY overprotective, independent, and intensely focused. INTENSE. Barks at everything that moves. Never bites, never nips... just not a quiet animal. Hates the cold weather (and rain). Doesn't work well with other animals. As a herder breed, will stare at, bully and harass our cat for hours at end. When I say hours, I mean hours. It's actually quite interesting to watch. We have an 7,000 + square foot home... and had to get the invisible fence indoors just to restrict access to the cat--who is 16 years old. The herding behavior is not to be taken lightly. Our cat has lost all her hair. This animal will even try to herd us. We've had many dogs over the years that cuddle or are super friendly. The Sheepadoodle is smart, but tends to be friendly only when food is near. So many other wonderful breeds to pick from... be warned.

@@ayliea3974 What? Why wasn't that shared in this video! The truth is these videos are all subjective. Most use the exact same content across different breeds with minor tweaks. It's all kind of silly. We watch these videos if we have the breed to confirm what we all ready know. That's odd in itself. Or, we watch them if we are considering a specific breed to learn about it. But these videos rarely share anything of great substance. And, in my case, much of what was said here simply does not correlate with my experiences. Your best bet is to speak directly to the breeder. They are the most informed and know the puppy's parental behaviors, and bloodlines. They can also give you the contact information of others who have purchased their puppies--which is the best strategy.

Did you do any research before you purchased your Sheepadoodle or did you buy one from these fancy so called breeders who have acres of fun, 20-30 sets of parents, etc, etc, etc. I researched, and research and observed other Sheepadoodles online as much as possible before pulling the trigger. Our Cooper could not be more perfect. He is 1/2 standard poodle and 1/2 Old English Sheepdog. 70 lbs of love, love, love. He loves people, he loves other dogs, he loves children, hasn’t been around cats so I can’t say. Has he nipped at us. A couple of times, but afterwards he has been very remorseful and begs forgiveness. Loves to go for walks, go to the dog park and just lie around sleeping when he’s all tuckered out. We recently returned to our breeder and purchased our second doodle from the same parents, so genetically Conner is Cooper’s brother just a different litter. They are becoming fast friends and play together very well. When buying any breed of dog it is important to find a breeder that is not just in it for the money. That’s what I found when I initially started my search. Way to many people out there claiming to be experts when breeding an animal. Anytime you continue a line such as doodle to doodle the outcome is going to be compromised. Sorry you are disappointed with your dog. If you decide to re-home him find someone that fully understands the breed. These are essentially designer dogs. And we all know designers are not the same and they aren’t all good.
