I'm guilty of that too. I use them as trash bags and temporary organizing in my craft room 😂 I could have made way more monsters than in that box. Why didn't they just have them fold them instead of cut first? You also can do a bag stuffed with other bags and twisty tie it into shape. That kit should be a dollar store kit.
Mine is almost empty because of plastic bag bans. I had so so many......

Despite the monster kit being a failure, in my opinion, the "finished" monster itself was really cute before it fell apart

I don't really think that the plastic bag monsters deserved all the hate. The point was to use as many bags as possible so it is a good thing that the kit provides you with a fun way to recycle that giant mound of shopping bags everyone has under their sink.
Lol my family is constantly looking for more because we use them so fast for day to day activities, for example cat litter or going to another house to spend a night
It was a trash kit, all it does is move the plastic around. And it shows all these colored bags that most people don't even have. Eventually the monster will still get thrown in the trash, when it can easily be taken to a recycling center, or a store drop off where it's legitimately recycled and reused for other purposes.
I started with the bead pet kits then moved to the tiny glass beads and jewelry wire an made tiny ones.
Yeah we actually did those in elementary school! I think that we used iron wire.

I love these bead animals! I love using seed beads for mine as well! Have you tried 3D beading before? It’s very similar, but you build up instead of out.

In my country the basic plasctic bag colours are:
Red, black, white, clear and sometimes teal :v
Street markets: black, clear, white, red
Malls: white, teal
Supermarkets: white, red

I'm in America I don't have a big bag full of plastic bags, I only use shopping bags that I crochet knit OR sew myself; I run my own business out of my house selling items I knit/crochet (no crochet and knitting aren't the same thing ) or sew, I sew whatever I'm making with my machine and fine embroider the designs by hand.
My family has the laundry room sink overfilled with plastic grocery bags, Soo the monster at the beginning would've been good for us amerigrains

Similar for me, we have a HUGE Aldi bag full of bags, I use them when painting, my mom found out using the "thankyouthankyouthankyou" bags for decorating jars of jellies and preserves is cute, she even crocheted some waterproof sandals with a bunch of bags, they lasted a month, but actually were quite comfy. My sister uses bags for reptile garbage, lizard poo and such, they are actually quite useful for allot of things.

Me too, but 3D with copper and Nylon. It was a cheap very satisfying hobby. That kit is very expensive for very boring motives.

I have green and blue plastic bags. They’re hard to get but they exist. It depends on what type of store you go to. Toy stores usually have colourful bags, grocery stores/corner stores/dollar stores usually have white or clear, IKEA sometimes has blue, and giant tiger has yellow of course. Also, sometimes Chinese gift shop type stores have small red bags. Otherwise I have no idea about other stores. Colourful bags can be hard to find but if you go to the right stores then you’re all set.
You legit missed the entire point of the plastic bag kit, why would they include the bags and bottle caps when the whole thing is using things you end up with.
True point, but I do think that this kit has different experiences, depends on your efforts of recycling or just if you hoard these items for later crafts. Which I hoard bottles.
I hoard single use plastic bags for the litter box, dog 💩, acrylic paint palettes, bathroom trash liners, bringing left overs to work. We have two giant bags filled with just grocery/store bags. I think this kit was made for us crafty hoarders in mind.
The monster kit is made for people like my mother-in-law in mind. She never throws away grocery bags.

I sent her this kit and that's exactly what I was thinking too. I have a bunch of plastic bags and so do my friends. I guess I never thought that people wouldn't hoard plastic bags (because seattle has a plastic bag ban, so you keep those suckers when you get them!)

All I'm gonna say is that most people I know in the US could definitely make like 50 plastic bag monsters and they are not gonna do anything with those bags otherwise, we can't recycle the bags here, so it at least gives them a use aside from a landfill

I didn’t have bead pets either, they were a option for “Good Behavior” tickets at school... I have ADHD (not treated as a kid)
So I never even got a single ticket, no matter how hard I tried to be good enough.

I love how the kit you both deemed likely not worth it at the beginning ended up being the only one "worth your cash" by the end. Those erasers are adorable! I agree that the best part of that kit is the book.

I had the bead pets craft kit as a kid and it came with colored instructions back then. The beads came in resealable bags and there were more thread choices but no bin to put the beads in. They also had wire for the pets to be on wire. We had the same problem putting the hips on especially as kids. It also came with more random colors that didn't always go in the directions so that you could make tie dye like pets with your leftovers. That eraser kit is cute! Will keep it in mind for gifts for my crafty family!

I got my son a craft/science/eco friendly kit to make a robotic can dude 🚹...and same thing, no can. And of course we had no cans so we had to hold off on the kit until we got a few different kinds. I didn't read the box either, lol, I just assumed it would say..."includes everything you need." 😂

i had that exact bead kit as a kid, still have some of the ones i made. it used to include the rainbow string. the trick to the frog was to pull the toes to tighten the hips .

I used to do the bead keychain kits all the time as a kid. I remember getting extra strings and just using the templates from the kit, I liked that they are grey since it gives the kids freedom to use what ever color they want and just use the tones suggested 🤷🏽♀️ could just be my nostalgia

I absolutely love Sika!! When she had the pipe cleaner tied into a bow on her head🤣😂 totally reminded me of myself!! I like to do silly stuff like that and bug my kids!!!😂🤣
I am impressed that the erasers worked and did not leave color behind. Most colored erasers I have used leave streaks of their color on the paper; they're darker marks than the pencil I'm trying to erase. And, you guys made such cute erasers, too! :)
I think it would be really cool to see you guys attempt a tye dye kit, I know at walmart in New Brunswick Canada there are several different tye dye kits!!
I realize the trash monster kit doesn’t “include everything you need” but it’s meant to teach you how to be creative with stuff you can RECYCLE

Thank you. I love salty crafter but it was kind of annoying me when they kept complaining about it not coming with bags. I feel like everyone has a bag full of bags in their house, so I thought the kit was actually really cool.
Jup. Recycle stuff for 31 bucks. She has every right to complain in my opinion. Especially since the colours of the monsters on the front aren't possible to achive. And yes, I have a lot of Bags here but I actually use them until they break (like they were supposed to be used).
If they were honest and weren't trying to make money off people they would have just published a book with ideas. That's not what they chose to do though.

I used to make all kinds of those beaded pets. I remember getting something called a Beady Buddie Bucket for Christmas one year that had 10,000 beads in it. Kept me busy for hours.

I had that bead pet kit as a kid XD it's actually a pretty nice kit! I still had those until a few months ago when I finally good willed my bead box and the pets that came with it. My siblings and I reused the instructions with more beads. But I was also like 10 when I did it

OMG! I remember that like a month ago, I found some extra beads and i made my own bead pet without any kit or instructions :p (it is a lizard and i named it it Newt cuz I love Fantastic Beasts uwu)
The bead patterns have always been in black and white and simple. There were books that were in color, but in the kits and buckets of beads they were black and white. I worked at Micheals when Beady Buddies came out... I had so many beads. :)
I love the sister duo! its just so happy and gives me a great laugh. Also Sika reminds me of a cute and adorable husky (one of my fave breeds). Thank you two for posting videos and giving us something fun and not miserable.

I bought the beaded pets kits about 10 years ago, and never completed the kit, but I still have it, and mine's came with the black, white and rainbow string.

It's a kit. A kit needs to include the materials you need to do the kit. If it doesn't you might aswell just sell it as a booklet with instruktions. Or even better: release the instruktions on the internet so you don't produce more waste.

I mean if youre using garbage bags youre not recycling - youre just using the material for another purpose. Thats why this kit doesn't work as being eco friendly - I'm not wasting my plastic bags on a craft when I can reuse them at the store.
