I like watching this guy work. He is constantly watching for tension/ compression of the tree and assessing which direction the log he is cutting will roll along with the nearby trees that will also move after the cut. Lots of good technique in these videos.
I used be a caller and a bucket in the bush in northern manitoba Canada, but am not able to do so now due age and health. So this is my way to still enjoy this.
It only looks easy because he's so skilled--much respect! I can see there's lots of ways to end-up dead or injured here. And, for the inexperienced, it's what you don't know that will kill you. . That being said, I just bought a chainsaw to remove a large wind-blown tree in my yard. This video has been super helpful--thank you, sir! Greetings from the US!
Yes he is experienced as he has the confidence to do this quickly, however there are some safety issues, in wind low it is always much safer to use a step cut, he also walks about without the chain break on, his left thumb is not wrapped round the handle, this should always be done in case of kick back. I’m talking from experience of 45 years from cutting all types of trees.
Very good work! Storm Herwart made the same with some trees in one of our two forests 🙈 Want buy soon a Husky 560 or 562. Which you prefer more and which chain?
Thanks for commenting, at this moment I prefer to use Husky 560 Xp seems to me lighter, we are also looking forward to sleep in February to test the Husqvarna 572xp

AZAdventure it's called paying attention to what your doing!!!it doesn't take a genuis to know what is going to happen if u take a sec and look at what's going on!
Storm cleanup is always dangerous regardless of skill level. It's probably the one type of forestry work that is impossible to do completely by the rules.
I have giant oak trees, on my property, just like one uprooted against another oak then the other uprooted about week later now one laying over top other root ball
I cleaned up 1000's of cds of blow down like that. You have to be on your top notch game plan at all times. I've seen trees do some unsuspected tricks. There are boo-bie traps set, so be very careful.
Id log again if I had a stand like this. Those trees are gorgous. And the land is so flat. I live in moutainy region of ns and full of rocks and uneven grounds. The trees dont get this nice either for the most part.
He reads every tree before he begins. Very methodical and professional. I could watch all day.
He nearly got wacked at the first tree!

Absolutely. Seeing the stored potential of quiet pressure.
Very nice file job on the chain also, beautiful chip flow
He was in the bite twice but changed his mind. Nice work. Always think of the consequences of the cuts actions!

Hey man, that guy has good instincts on how the log is going to behave. Every time the log rolled his body was in the right position.
