Looks like quite a nice blade protruding out the top of a mutant avocado

Planning to pick this up for my little cousin who just entered scouts. I want to teach him to value proper knives that will serve him well. I'll also probably pick him up a victorinox or maybe a Leatherman Micra.

Thanks for the review man you are a machine with pumping out good content, good job! Ive been looking for a new edc to replace my Rat 2 work knife lately. The ergos are a bit off with the Rat 2 is the Zancudo better for big hands? You kinda answered it in this video but is it on par or much better? The D2 version has peaked my interest again.

Northern Territory Bushcraft much better ergos for bigger hands, for sure! The franmlock is a bit less easy to use, but getting easier as I use it more

Just recieved the carbon fibre in D2 steel. Holy S#!+ !!! it flies out like an assisted blade, ergos much better than the Rat 2. My Rat 2 work knife has been totally dethroned.

Looks like one of the better "budget D2" options along with the RAT

I bought the Avispa with D2 & the AUS-8 version holds a sharp edge longer. Same with the OKC RAT1/RAT2 ESEE's D2 is soft AF like tin metal.

It does have a weird look about it, you're right. I finally got round to ordering my rat 1 in D2... gotta wait all weekend to pick it up though.

Great review. I've been eyeing this knife for a while. The clip does seem wonky for tip up. Pops custom clips on etsy makes a Ti clip for the blur that supposedly fits this knife. I'm not sure if he ships internationally.

How well do you think this d2 would hold up to rust in fresh water fishing? mainly cutting wet line.

I must have gotten an oddball pick as I've had no issues opening the knife in tip up carry... Honestly don't even notice the clip. It's a sweet little lightweight knife....

I think is something beautiful about it and the blade layout on handle is perfect although I'm not digging the framelock.

I also like the minimalist aspect and I like the sturdiness of the framelock.

Question: How do you tell that someone carries an EDC pocket knife?
Answer: His pants pocket could only be described as "shredded!"

Hi, I wanted to ask you if it's easy enough to sharpen this D2 steel? is it much more difficult than a 440C?

    • @CedricAda
      @CedricAda  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

a bit trickier to sharpen this over 440c, in general

I have a "Rat 3" from EsEE and it does not keep a edge. I love mora.

      It's a carbon steel blade
The benefit is it's much harder to break and very easy to get very sharp.
The cost is edge retention and corrosion resistance
If you've used similarly priced stainless knives, you will notice it's a lot harder to sharpen the ones that keep that edge.
Don't get it too sharp...A working edge is often better a bit rough so it doesn't dull as quickly.

I wish the clip could be positioned for left hand carry.

Jimmy C I wonder if it would be too impractical for knife companies to produce a number of left handed models for all their liner/frame etc locks

Nice to see another aussie reviewer.
Cheers for the review mate, very helpful. Agreed on the looks, but grip feel will win out for me...and maybe black w/ black blade will tone down the "belly" effect lol. Can't go past that price for D2 either :)
