Dear We Civivi, please note how very lucky you are as a company to have Pete reviewing your products with his honest humor and slightly sarcastic wit. I wont sit through many civivi videos, but ill never miss one done by Pete. The music…😂
Ask your doctor if is Primitrox is right for you. Side effects of Primitrox include headache, nausea, flipper-fingeritus, and in rare cases, titanium envy. If side effects impact your daily routines or last more than 3 days, seek professional a sharpening service.
I have had a Civivi Praxis for at least 5 years now. As soon as I saw them for sale, I decided I needed a pocketknife with a blade that shape. Having practically no experience with the Chinese designated steels, I was lulled into a false sense of security because the Praxis had really good blade steel. It took me quite a while before I realized most things with 8Cr at the beginning of the steel name meant it was a real crap shoot at best for the blade quality. The 9Cr and 10Cr knives I've had have generally been pretty good, but 8Cr and below is too much of a lottery. The Praxis, however, has proven to be one of my favorite pocketknives.
Wholeheartedly agree with you on proud liners. Some designers utilize them on cheaper models to give the appearance or feel of contouring when they use flat scales... but they're just uncomfortable when you need to apply even a little bit more force on the knife.
Nitro V is like ABEL. If the heat treat is done right, it can out perform powder steels. It has to do with the chromium converted to chromium carbide. And it's easy to sharpen.
I wish I could watch this video, but i put my Titanium Tenacious in my pocket, and it's two ounces lighter than the lightweight version, and now I'm floating awayyyyyy!
dude the titanium tenacious is one of the dumbest knives i’ve ever seen, the tenacious design is good, and making one in a titanium framelock is a good idea, and $150 for a titanium framelock isn’t bad. BUT THEN THEY PUT 8CR FOR THE STEEL AND STILL CHARGED $150
when I look at the Primitrox I really see an Elementum XL. the way the liners shadowbox the scales and the liner lock and the flipper and blade shape. it has everything that the elementum has but bigger and minus the hollow grind. I would have definitely considered buying one if it had that hollow grind by the way. also thanks for the vid pete and the AI song was incredible. thanks for doing that.
Song, dogs, chickens, all big pluses ! Knife - perfectly adequate, could hide in a crowd of Civivi knives or other brands which do casual knife things fairly well. Always love it when you do a rope cutting test ! Great seeing you again !
i've never seen a more Civivi knife in my life. Like they got a whiff of Ferrum Forge while designing a "knife". No modifiers, no adjectives. Just Knife. (BTW you sure the dogs have enough food for a whole day?)
Another good review. Thanks, Pete. When I first saw the thumbnail for this video, I thought you were going to review the Eka Swede 8, which is about as basic but unkillable a pocket knife you can get. If you want to do a more boring but still competent knife, then the Swede 8 would be the one. Well done on your happy hens.
I really don't mind wooden scales on a pocket knife. The AEBL steel variants are kind of interesting in that you can heat treat them for all kinds of purposes ranging from beef bone cutting monsters to wafer thin razors and despite being not a world leader in edge holding. Its really perfectly fine for most people, dead easy to sharpen, low maintenance, you don't pay a lot and it finishes up real nice on a polish.
I agree. The Campania Brumby (custom made in Australia) that I have is in AEBL. It's a beast, and so far it is holding a great edge, and looks fantastic.
A mass drop ferum forge Gent all over again. It's a little larger and not made by we knife this time it's the same company very similar. The Gent was a lovely little flipper from about 10 years ago so it will be alright. Good lad you Bazil, I know how you feel .!
Top 10 knives that'll get the job done. Top 10 knives you won't spend more than 15 minutes looking for when you lose it. Top 10 knives that you call by the wrong name.
If I only had my two Elementums, I would get along just fine. This whatevertheycallit looks quite similar. But I do enjoy my other knives, just not enough to sink vast sums of money into them. I did buy another knife recently, a pink d2 flipper with donut sprinkle decorations, for my cousin to leave in her car for odd moments when. knife is needed. It was inexpensive, had good sharpness and solid lockup and a nicely grippy surface. She loved it. I'm unenthusiastic about most under-$100 USD knives now, but not enough to buy the Para 2 I think about from time to time. Maybe I need to buy some kitchen knives!!!!!!
great knife! got my civivi (different model but similar) with a black blade. pocket clip is insanely flimsy though. within two weeks it twisted and bent on me while sitting in a chair...
Knife reviewers must hate this knife. I mean they can't say it's a bad knife - but if they give it too much praise they risk being mocked for approving of something so vanilla.
You know Civivi is mainstream when Walmart is selling them in stores. It is a recent development but I was in the local Wally World this week and they had three or four Civivi models in the knife case. I was interested in the Swisstech Leicht (small fixed blade) so didn't pick one up. I probably will, though, since Civivi seems to be a pretty well liked company and I have never owned one.
I've owned 8 and 4 are still in the collection. The others went to family and friends. Like Mcdonald's they are consistent, reasonably priced and you know what you are getting, if you didn't like it after ordering one, well that's on you. Of course having the chance to hold one in person before buying is a great advantage with that.
This vid was great, love the new AI song, Civivi is a good company making nice knives. But I think if I was new to buying knives I would have more. I have a couple of WE knives, but they just don’t do it for me like other brands do. I know Benchmade are too expensive but still they have something that I really like. Civivi and WE make some beautiful knives, but not really for me. I must say only because of your SOH that I watched this whole vid. You do a great job. Thanks Pete. Looking forward to the next vid, maybe that will be the one.
Holy shit what is that song playing during the cut test?? I thought it was just a generic song at first but then I noticed the very specific and hilarious lyrics. Is that you singing Pete?
G'day Pete, I like it. Ok, perhaps no wow factor, though as an EDC folder, whats not to like, especially for the moolah. Very BM Freek-esq in S30, but with full liners and no butterfly tax. In fairness, I have got my Freek perfectly "drop shut" tuned without any play whatsoever, (no loctite on the pivot screw either), though I'd much prefer a flipper, as this is. Q. apologies if I missed it, is this one running on bronze washers ? Btw; where have all the flippers gone ......... cross bar "pinch locks", thumb studs, holes and slots ....... are P155'n me off .... bluddy 'ell, even gimme a nail nick ....... ummmm ..... with few exceptions, no not really, ...... just got a bit carried away ; ) Cheers Duke. P.S. oh yeah, amazing you found a song so much in line with your thoughts on this knife. And, whomever the artist is ...... let's hope .... they're not just a one hit wonder ; )
The Civivi Elementum Fixed Blade has the same scales/spine issue. I made new desert ironwood scales for mine and the spine is less noticeable. Did you write your knife lab song? Thanks for the views of the chickens and the dogs, Pete!!!
Forgettable purchases, 2nd elementum, 2nd penguin,2nd racoon, 2nd 3” _________. So many civivi qsp’s curb’s, kaisers. For carrying Spyderco usually gets the call for me.
WE/Civivi seems to either the most boring knives or ones that make you go WTF?!? But if sales of the boring knives supports the WTF knives, I’m all in. Also, what kind of cheese is Tasty Cheese? If the packaging is trying to sell me that the cheese inside is tasty, I’m thinking the cheese isn’t really that tasty and I will experience sadness and regret for buying that cheese.
With a Civivi Knifecenter exclusive Altus and a standard Badlands Vagabond, I figure I have enough normal Civivi knives. I look at their lineup, and they're all perfectly good, but I just ask, "Why?" Plus, I decided to stop buying knives made in China. There are plenty of alternatives.
Of course it's boring. edc folding knife is kind of a done deal. We have achieved perfection and now there isn't really anywhere further to go. This is almost a perfect edc folder, just like many other Civivis. A knife was one of the first tools humans ever used, it makes sense it would be one of the first ones to be improved to perfection after thousands of years.
The ai song about how normal this knife is was the most brilliant use of ai so far in humanity
What....AI? I thought Pete was singing.

“Hey ChatGPT, can you make an up beat song about reviewing a boring, underwhelming, but quality knife?” Am I close? Haha! I’m glad you’re back!

The Pups have grown into Beautiful young Dogs!!!. You Sir are an Outstanding steward of your Animals!. Another All Five Thumbs Up!.👍👍👍👍👍✌!.
I do appreciate an unassuming, competent, inexpensive knife!
My God, man...give that Spyderco Stretch some love 😅 That thing looks like a murder weapon the police found that had been in a pond for 7 years!
Its had an abundance of love, i daresay its the most loved Stretch 2 on the planet
Nitro V is like ABEL. If the heat treat is done right, it can out perform powder steels. It has to do with the chromium converted to chromium carbide. And it's easy to sharpen.
AEB-L, but it certainly is a very able steel.😂

Would you recommend for bedtime carry? This design makes me very sleepy.
Even if the knife is not exciting, seeing a new video from you is. This was a great video, thank you!.
I love the patina that forms on the K390 Spydercos. Looks great Pete
We need a magnacut buck 110 video so we can see Randy have an identity crisis.
Lol, totally sold me on the idea.
Always nice to see the dogs, definitely more excited for the love rubs and interaction, than the chow. They love their Dad!

I got one of those praxis knives and it opened by itself twice in my pocket while I was walking. haven't bought an assisted knife since
Your reviews are the absolute best.
I like Civivi's stuff a lot, especially the Conspirator is a great knife.
The song during the sharpening clip reminds me of Hey Mario by Patent Pending.

I've noticed the scale issue with other wood versions of their knives too. Not their G10 or Micarta, but especially their Guibourtia wood.
I appreciate the “standard boring knife song” 😂😂😂
loving your content! like to see you try some aussie made pieces, like the tassie tiger
It's a bog standard "Fathers day" style knife for sure. Good but not knocking anyone's socks off.
Didn't realize Owl City was making knife guy songs these days
The Conspirator is still the best Civivi folder.

If Uncle Randy ever were to consider Commie steel...
I'm disappointed Pete is not using a cast iron pan anymore, especially for steak, can't get a good crust with Teflon pans, you have failed us Pete
Well then, I guess I shall never know the thickness of the blade.
